Is SSC JE 2024 registration still open?
No. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) accepted applications for the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical and Electrical) Examination, 2024, from 28 March through 18 April 2024. The application deadline was 11:00 PM on 18 April. The online fee-payment deadline was 11:00 PM on 19 April, and the correction window ran from 22 to 23 April, closing at 11:00 PM. The headline’s 968 figure was not the final vacancy total. The original notice described vacancies as tentative, including some MES posts to be announced later. SSC’s final notice reported 1,701 vacancies.
What were the SSC JE 2024 application fee and correction charges?
The application fee was ₹100, payable online. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen candidates were exempt from the fee. During the correction window, the charge was ₹200 for the first resubmission and ₹500 for the second, as set out in the original SSC notice.

What were the posts, pay level and eligibility?
The recruitment was for Group B, non-gazetted, non-ministerial Junior Engineer posts in government organizations and offices. The pay matrix was Level 6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400, according to the 2024 examination notice.

The examination covered Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering. SSC did not set one universal qualification or age limit for every post: educational requirements and age ceilings varied by organization and post. Anyone checking eligibility for a particular 2024 vacancy should use the relevant post entry in the official notice rather than assume that one engineering qualification or age rule applied across the recruitment.
What was the SSC JE 2024 exam schedule?
The original notice scheduled Paper I for 4–6 June 2024. SSC later changed those dates to 5–7 June because of the 2024 general election. The rescheduling notice dated 8 April 2024 superseded the original Paper I dates. The original notice said the Paper II schedule would be announced later.
What happened after the exams?
Application, examination and final post preference were separate steps. On 6 December 2024, SSC directed candidates who had appeared in Paper II to submit their post and organization preferences through their candidate login between 9 and 13 December 2024. The option-cum-preference notice said submission was mandatory for consideration in the final merit list and that physical submissions would not be accepted.

In its 2024 examination notice, SSC advised: “Candidates are advised in their own interest to submit online applications much before the closing date and not to wait till the last date to avoid the possibility of disconnection/ inability or failure to login to the SSC website on account of heavy load on the website during the closing days.” That warning applied to the now-closed 2024 application window.
