The SSC CGL 2024 application deadline was 24 July 2024 at 23:00; it is not open today. The original notice also set a later fee-payment deadline and an August correction window, both of which have passed. Candidates looking for current recruitment opportunities should check the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) website for active notices.
What was the SSC CGL 2024 registration deadline?
SSC accepted applications for the Combined Graduate Level Examination 2024 from 24 June through 24 July 2024. The notice set the last time for receiving applications as 23:00 on 24 July. Because those dates are historical, candidates cannot apply now under that notice. The official schedule appears in SSC’s 2024 examination notice.
The notice separately allowed fee payment until 23:00 on 25 July 2024. That later payment cutoff did not extend the application-submission deadline.
How many vacancies did the 2024 notice list?
SSC described the vacancy count as approximately 17,727 in its 2024 notice. The number was tentative, not a guaranteed final count: the commission said firm vacancies would be determined later and that updated post-wise and category-wise figures would be posted in due course.

How did the 2024 application process work?
Applications were submitted online at ssc.gov.in. These steps describe the process in the 2024 notice; they are not an open application route now.
- Create One-Time Registration (OTR), if needed. Candidates who had not registered on SSC’s new website had to complete OTR first. An OTR created on the old ssc.nic.in website did not work on the new site.
- Complete the examination application. Enter the requested details in the online application module and follow its instructions.
- Capture the live photograph. SSC instructed candidates to use good light and a plain background, face the camera directly at eye level, and keep their face inside the on-screen frame. The photograph was to be taken without a cap, mask or glasses.
- Upload the signature. The notice specified a scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format, 10–20 KB, with approximate dimensions of 6.0 cm by 2.0 cm. SSC warned that an inappropriate photograph or a blurred or miniature signature could lead to rejection.
- Review before submitting. Use the Preview/Print option to check every field, photograph and signature, then retain a copy of the application. SSC advised applying well before the closing date.
- Pay the fee, if applicable. The fee-payment cutoff was 23:00 on 25 July 2024. An application without required payment could remain incomplete and be rejected.
What was the SSC CGL 2024 application fee?
The application fee was ₹100. The notice exempted women, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and eligible Ex-Servicemen (ESM). Payment was online using the methods listed in the notice. The payment deadline was 25 July 2024 at 23:00.
Was there a correction window?
Yes. The correction window ran from 10 to 11 August 2024 and closed at 23:00. Candidates with a completed application and required fee could submit up to two corrections: the first cost ₹200 and the second ₹500. The notice did not permit further changes after the window closed.
What posts and eligibility did the notice cover?
The examination was intended to fill Group B and Group C posts in Government of India ministries, departments and organizations, as well as constitutional and statutory bodies and tribunals. Listed roles included Assistant Section Officer, Income Tax Inspector, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Sub-Inspector, Auditor, Accountant and Tax Assistant.

Pay levels, age limits and other eligibility conditions varied by post. Some roles also had physical, medical or educational requirements. Final allotment depended on merit and the preferences candidates submitted, so applicants were advised to check each post’s requirements before choosing preferences.
