What the 2024 SBI recruitment covered
State Bank of India advertised regular Specialist Cadre Officer positions at Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I) for Assistant Manager (Engineer-Civil), Assistant Manager (Engineer-Electrical) and Assistant Manager (Engineer-Fire). The notice said postings could be anywhere in India. Vacancy numbers were provisional and could change according to the Bank’s requirements.

Eligibility differed by engineering role
Civil
Applicants needed a recognized bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with at least 60% marks and two or more years of experience in relevant work. The notice included building construction or maintenance, project work, planning and control, design or testing, cost estimates, and checking contractors’ bills among the specified experience areas.

Electrical
Applicants needed a recognized bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with at least 60% marks and at least two years of relevant experience, including installation, handling or maintenance of electrical equipment and tender specification or evaluation.
Fire
The Fire post had several qualification routes, including specified fire-engineering or fire-safety degrees and certain Institution of Fire Engineers or National Fire Service College routes. Degree routes required at least two years of fire-safety experience; alternate routes required at least three years of specified fire-officer or equivalent work. The notice also required knowledge of fire-prevention and fire-protection systems.
Age limits above are the limits stated as of 1 October 2024, not current eligibility rules. The notice set out age relaxations and category-document requirements; candidates had to provide supporting certificates. A new advertisement may use different criteria.
Application fee, documents and selection
The application and intimation charge was non-refundable: ₹750 for General, EWS and OBC candidates, and no fee for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Applications were submitted online through SBI’s careers site during the stated registration period.
Applicants were required to provide supporting materials, including a resume, identity and age proof, applicable caste or PwBD documents, education and experience certificates, and photograph and signature uploads. SBI advised applicants to keep their contact details active and monitor the careers page for updates.
The selection process included an online written test and further shortlisting and interaction or interview stages, as applicable under the notice. Admission at early stages was provisional, pending eligibility checks and document verification.
