Who is Jon Bellamy?
Jagex said Bellamy had served on its board since 2024, held executive roles at Jagex from 2015 to 2018 and worked at Huuuge Games from 2019 to 2023. The company also described him as a RuneScape player for more than 20 years. These details come from Jagex’s March 4, 2025 announcement.
In the announcement, Bellamy said he planned to spend time with the team reviewing Jagex’s ambitions, then communicate his broader vision to the RuneScape community “in the near-term.” The release did not set out that vision in detail, so the appointment alone does not establish what will change in the games or how Jagex will run them.
Why did Jagex change CEOs?
Bellamy succeeded Phil Mansell, who had been Jagex CEO since 2017. Mansell said he was stepping back after eight years as CEO and 14 years leading RuneScape. Jagex said he would remain with the business for a period to support a smooth transition.

Jagex chairman Marc Allera thanked Mansell and referred to an “all time record number of Old School RuneScape players in Q4- 2024.” The announcement gave no player count, so this is a company-reported description rather than a quantified statistic.
What has Jagex announced since the appointment?
RuneScape’s 2026 roadmap
In January 2026, Jagex presented a roadmap for RuneScape’s 25th anniversary year. The company said it included the franchise’s largest expansion to date, integrity-focused work, modernization of core systems and a player-avatar refresh. It also said Treasure Hunter had been removed after a November 2025 community vote in which nearly 125,000 players participated. These are company-announced plans and claims, not proof that every roadmap item will be delivered or evidence that Bellamy personally devised them. See Jagex’s 2026 roadmap announcement.

Projects beyond the games
Jagex’s news listing records a July 2026 announcement opening preorders for a RuneScape edition of MONOPOLY, among other franchise developments. Separately, GamesRadar+ reported on October 5, 2026 that Bellamy revealed an animated RuneScape project at an early stage of development at RuneFest 2026. The report said the project brings Jagex together with Lyrical Animation and creator Charlie White, also known as MoistCr1TiKaL, with further news expected in 2027. Neither announcement establishes that Bellamy originated the project or product. Jagex’s news listing and the GamesRadar+ report provide the respective details.

The confirmed change is who leads Jagex: Bellamy replaced Mansell as CEO. Bellamy has said he would review the company’s ambitions with the team and share a broader vision with the community, but Jagex’s appointment release did not define that vision. The later roadmap and franchise announcements give players concrete company plans and projects to watch; they should not be treated as evidence that the CEO appointment itself caused a particular game change.
