Why was the cruise ship delayed?
Royal Caribbean Blog reported on October 12, 2025, and updated its story on October 13, that deteriorating weather from a nor’easter and a temporary port closure prevented the ship from departing as scheduled. The report put sustained winds at 15–25 mph, with gusts of 35–50 mph; it did not identify the originating forecast issuer, so those figures should be understood as figures reported by Royal Caribbean Blog, not as an independently attributed weather-agency forecast. The story reproduced an email attributed to Royal Caribbean, which said the company and its chief meteorologist, Craig Setzer, were monitoring a coastal low-pressure system forecast to affect Cape Liberty beginning Sunday and would depart only when it was considered safe. Cape Liberty is in Bayonne Harbor in Lower New York Harbor. The incident was a port departure delay during a storm, not a current emergency: the reporting says the vessel stayed at Cape Liberty until Tuesday.

What happened to the itinerary?
The affected departure was a seven-night cruise scheduled to visit Port Canaveral, Nassau, and Perfect Day at CocoCay. In the revised plan, the ship skipped Port Canaveral and Nassau, kept the CocoCay visit, and returned to Cape Liberty. What did passengers report?
Royal Caribbean Blog relayed a passenger post describing an overnight wait and a brief move of the ship to make room for a container ship. That account is attributable to the passenger post, rather than an independently confirmed explanation of the maneuver. The reporting documents the schedule disruption and one passenger’s account, but does not establish representative passenger sentiment or support the title’s claim that passengers were furious.

What were guests told about boarding?
For the October 12 sailing, guests were asked to arrive two hours before their preselected check-in time. Royal Caribbean Blog reported that boarding began as early as 8:30 a.m. and that all guests were to be checked in and aboard by 12:30 p.m. These were instructions for that disrupted sailing, not general Cape Liberty boarding times.
