Why did Nicolo Laurent step away?

Riot’s September update confirms the transition was complete but does not specify the duration or scope of any advisory work.
What did Jadeja do before becoming CEO?
Jadeja had spent more than a decade in Riot’s senior leadership before taking the top job. Riot’s biography says he joined as chief financial officer in 2011, added chief operating officer responsibilities in 2014, became president in 2017, and began overseeing enterprise operations in 2022.

Riot described the selection as the result of an extended succession process. Laurent said it lasted about three years and that the company considered candidates both inside and outside Riot. Laurent said the Board, advisors, founders, executive search firm, and Laurent himself each had Jadeja at the top of their lists. Those are Riot’s public statements about its internal process; the cited company materials do not provide an independent account of the deliberations.
