Remedy Entertainment appointed former Electronic Arts and CCP Games executive Jean-Charles Gaudechon as its CEO on February 9, 2026. He took office on March 1, succeeding interim CEO Markus Mäki. Remedy says it wants his leadership to support profitable growth and greater independence through self-publishing; those are company goals, not results already achieved.
Who is Remedy’s new CEO?
Jean-Charles Gaudechon, whom Remedy’s announcement also calls “JC,” is a French-born executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience in gaming and digital entertainment, according to the company. His career includes senior leadership roles at Electronic Arts and CCP Games, including executive positions with full profit-and-loss responsibility. Remedy’s management page identifies him as CEO since 2026.

The Board announced the appointment on February 9, 2026, and Gaudechon’s tenure began March 1, 2026. Interim CEO Markus Mäki remained in the role until then and was to continue supporting Remedy and the new CEO afterward, according to the appointment announcement.

The change followed a short interim period: Tero Virtala’s service as CEO ended October 21, 2025, and Mäki became interim CEO the next day while the company searched for a permanent successor, according to Remedy’s 2025 Corporate Governance Statement.
Why did Remedy appoint a former EA executive?
Remedy framed the appointment as a move toward profitable growth. Chairman Henri Österlund said Gaudechon’s experience growing gaming franchises and leading international studios suited the company’s current stage. The company also said it wants to accelerate growth, build greater independence through self-publishing, and deliver sustained value to players, partners, and shareholders. These are stated aims; the appointment itself does not establish that they have been met.

Gaudechon said he intended to preserve Remedy’s creative identity while delivering games and scaling the business. He also described plans to stay close to players, strengthen the company’s independence in developing and publishing games, and continue working with partners. Remedy did not announce a specific change to its publishing arrangements as part of the CEO appointment.
