Life Electric Vehicles Holdings, Inc. (Life EV) acquired key Rad Power Bikes assets in a court-approved sale completed in February 2026. The buyer says it will keep U.S. retail operations under the Rad name and plans to shift production toward U.S.-based assembly. That is a plan, not confirmation that Rad bikes are already being assembled here; Life EV says components will still be sourced globally.
Who owns Rad Power Bikes now?
Life EV acquired the Rad Power Bikes brand, intellectual property, inventory and certain operating assets. Its SEC filing dates the asset acquisition to February 27, 2026, and reports approximately $14.9 million in aggregate consideration, including specified assumed obligations. Life EV announced completion on March 5. Life EV’s SEC filing and the company’s announcement describe an acquisition of selected assets, not a continuation of the former business unchanged or an assumption of all its liabilities.
Life EV says U.S. retail operations will continue under the Rad Power Bikes brand. The company presents the purchase as part of a broader electric-mobility portfolio strategy. Its filing also cites approximately 1.5 million current and historical customer records, while cautioning that it has not independently determined that all records are current, active, marketable or usable. It reports approximately $1.2 billion in cumulative historical Rad sales data; that figure concerns the former business and is not revenue earned by the new operator. Life EV’s filing
Will Rad bikes be made in the USA?
Life EV says it plans to transition Rad production to the United States through affiliated operations using a Foreign Trade Zone structure. The company says the approach would combine globally sourced components with domestic assembly, quality control, inventory management and distribution. The announcement describes expectations and goals; it does not verify that the transition has happened or that a U.S. facility is operating at scale. Life EV’s announcement

In a March 6, 2026 interview, CEO Robert Provost described a proposed final-assembly operation in a 100,000-square-foot central U.S. facility and a just-in-time production model. Those are plans he described at the time, not evidence of completed construction or production. GeekWire’s interview
For buyers, the important distinction is between where a bike is assembled and where its parts are made. Life EV’s stated plan is for U.S.-based assembly with components sourced globally; it is not a pledge that all components will be manufactured in the United States.
Will my Rad Power Bikes warranty still be honored?
Check the purchase date and the current policy rather than relying only on the March acquisition announcement. Rad’s current warranty page says the buyer has no obligation to provide warranty or other service for products bought before December 15, 2025. It says the new operator is reviewing possible upgrades or services at its discretion.

The acquisition announcement said Life EV intended to honor certain warranties and gift cards under the asset purchase agreement. The current warranty page gives the narrower operational position for older purchases. Contact Rad through its current support channels with your purchase date, model and proof of purchase to ask what, if anything, is available for your specific case; do not treat the announcement as confirmation that an older warranty will be serviced.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a November 24, 2025 warning for lithium-ion batteries numbered RP-1304, RAD-S1304Y and HL-RP-S1304, sold with or as replacement batteries for specified Rad models. The agency says they can ignite or explode, particularly if the battery or harness has been exposed to water and debris. CPSC reported 31 fire reports, including 12 reports of property damage totaling approximately $734,500. Read the CPSC warning for the affected products and details.
- Check the battery’s label for one of the model numbers above and consult the CPSC notice to confirm whether your battery is affected.
- If it matches, stop using it and remove it from the bike.
- Follow your local hazardous-waste disposal guidance. Do not sell or give the battery to someone else.
GeekWire reported that Provost said in March 2026 that the new company intended to offer affected customers replacement batteries at about a 50% discount, using Safe Shield Battery replacements. That was an announced plan, not a confirmed current offer. The current availability of a replacement program is not established here; check Rad’s current customer-support channels before relying on it. GeekWire’s report
