Its October 2, 2026 fact sheet says most eligible people would receive the money by direct deposit in early October, while people without direct deposit would receive a paper check. The announcement does not give a specific arrival date for each person or confirm that all payments have been sent.
What the $90 payment is
The White House describes the payment as one-time assistance toward Medicare Part B premiums—not a new monthly Social Security retirement or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefit. The announced amount is $90 per person, and the White House says the program is intended to reach more than 20 million enrollees. That figure is the announced reach, not a verified count of completed deposits. White House fact sheet, October 2, 2026
Who the White House says qualifies
The announcement says most Medicare Part B enrollees qualify, with two stated exclusions:
- People whose Part B premiums are paid by Medicaid.
- People who pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA).
The White House announcement is the source for these criteria. It does not provide a full eligibility lookup or explain how every individual case will be handled.

When and how payment may arrive
The White House says most eligible recipients would receive a direct deposit in early October 2026. People who do not have direct deposit would receive a paper check. The announcement does not specify a date for each payment, and the available information does not verify how many deposits or checks have already been delivered. If you believe you qualify but have not received anything, do not assume the announced reach means your payment has already been sent.
How this differs from Social Security and SSI benefits
The announced $90 payment is connected to Medicare Part B premiums and is described as a one-time payment. It is not the same as recurring Social Security retirement or disability benefits, or monthly SSI.
