A September report said the panel was accepting stakeholder memoranda until 31 October 2026. No 8th Assam salary figure, fitment factor or implementation date is confirmed in the sources cited here; the commission’s stated 18-month reporting target is not a promise of a pay rise by that date.
What the 8th Assam Pay Commission is reviewing
The Government of Assam resolution dated 23 February 2026 constitutes a state commission to review the emoluments and service conditions of state government employees. The resolution is reproduced in English on Scribd, rather than on an official government-hosted English page, so verify exact legal wording against the official Finance Department or commission portal. The resolution frames the review as broader than changing a pay table. Its stated considerations include fiscal sustainability, service delivery, administrative efficiency, human-resource management, technology use, outcome-based governance and manpower rationalisation. It also discusses linking human-resource management systems with financial systems, measurable performance metrics, and structured training. These are objectives in the resolution, not confirmation that a performance-linked pay system has been approved.

The resolution says: “The Government further considers that productivity per employee can be enhanced through systematic application of digital technologies in public service delivery, integration of Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS) with financial management systems, measurable performance metrics and targeted skill development through structured training and capacity building.” This wording is from the reproduced Government of Assam resolution, not a personal statement attributed to an individual.

Has Assam announced a salary hike or fitment factor?
No confirmed 8th Assam pay amount, new salary table, fitment factor or effective date is established by the sources cited here. A recommendation from a commission would also be separate from a government decision to accept, modify or implement it. Treat online salary projections or factor calculations as speculation unless an official commission recommendation or government order supports them.

The 7th Assam Pay and Productivity Pay Commission’s report recommended a minimum pay of ₹15,900 and a multiplying factor of 2.62. Those are historical recommendations from the previous state commission, not figures for the 8th commission. Read the 7th Assam commission report.

What the headline’s CM reference does—and does not—establish
The formal resolution confirms that Assam constituted the commission, but it does not by itself verify the exact wording or date of a Chief Minister’s announcement. The sources cited here do not establish a primary record of that statement. The supported claim is the commission’s constitution under the 23 February 2026 resolution; the precise CM attribution should not be treated as confirmed without an official announcement or transcript.

Is this the same as the 8th Central Pay Commission?
No. Assam’s commission is a state body constituted by the Government of Assam, with its remit concerning Assam state employees. The 8th Central Pay Commission is a separate Union-level body. The Union Cabinet approved its terms of reference in October 2025, which provide for recommendations within 18 months of its constitution. The Union government’s announcement concerns the Central Commission only; its process, recommendations or expected dates do not set Assam’s pay terms.
