There is no single “best” affiliate program for every publisher: the right choice depends on your audience, niche, location, eligibility and the terms attached to each referral. Shopify’s June 29, 2026 roundup names eight candidates covered here, but current commission rates and other key terms are not established for all of them. Treat this as a shortlist to evaluate—not a ranking or an earnings promise.
How to choose an affiliate program that fits
Before applying, check how a referral earns commission, what event qualifies, when the referral expires, how and when payouts are made, and whether your location and content meet the program’s requirements. Shopify’s June 2026 roundup identifies commission, payment method, minimum payout and cookie duration as core comparison factors. Official program terms can add important conditions, including geography, eligible plans and valid-lead rules.
- Audience match: Recommend products or services your readers could genuinely use. A high advertised commission is not useful if the offer is a poor fit.
- Commission mechanics: Confirm whether payment is a percentage or fixed amount, one-time or recurring, and tied to a qualifying purchase, signup or accepted lead.
- Attribution and qualification: Look for the referral window and the rules for a valid purchase or lead. Do not assume every click or free-trial signup earns commission.
- Payment: Verify the payout method, schedule, minimum balance, currency and how reversals are handled.
- Access: Check application requirements, advertiser-specific approval and geographic availability.
Use current official terms for the final decision. Shopify’s roundup is useful for finding candidates, but it does not establish current rates, approval rules or cookie windows for every option below.

The table separates what the available evidence establishes from details you still need to verify. “Not stated” means the cited material does not establish that term; it is not an estimate.

What the verified program terms mean in practice
Amazon Associates: broad selection, category-dependent commission
Amazon’s program can suit publishers whose content naturally helps readers choose products, because it offers product recommendation tools across a large catalog. Its “up to 10%” figure is a maximum advertised rate, not a rate that applies to every purchase: Amazon says commissions differ by category. Earnings depend on qualifying purchases and program rules, so check the current category schedule before projecting revenue.
Shopify: apply with an established commerce audience
Shopify describes its affiliate program as free to join, but that does not mean automatic acceptance. Its stated criteria include an active website, an established audience, original content and relevant commerce or entrepreneurship experience. The program uses Impact for tracking and reporting.
Rank #2
Commission depends on the referred merchant’s location and contract terms. Shopify’s help page says only eligible full-price referrals qualify, and identifies Basic, Grow and Advanced as eligible plan groups; Plus, Enterprise and Retail are not commission eligible. Do not count a free-trial signup as a commission unless the current terms explicitly say it qualifies.
HubSpot: confirm rates and lead windows in the affiliate materials
HubSpot’s agreement confirms an application and review process. It directs affiliates to the Affiliate Tool or applicable program policies for commission and lead-expiration details; accepted leads must meet validity requirements, and some circumstances are excluded from commission eligibility. Because those terms can change, a fixed rate or cookie duration from an older third-party roundup is not a sound basis for a forecast.
Rank #3
Networks and specialist candidates: compare the actual offer
Semrush, Awin, CJ, Rakuten Advertising and PartnerStack are candidates listed in Shopify’s June 2026 roundup, not verified promises of a particular rate or offer. For a network, the advertiser or partner program is central: availability, approval and compensation can differ from one offer to another. Review the specific program terms before publishing a link or estimating income.
How to make a shortlist before applying
- Start with the reader. Write down the products, services or software that genuinely solve a problem for your audience. Remove offers that would be hard to recommend credibly.
- Check fit and access. Compare each option’s audience, geography, content requirements and application process. For Shopify and HubSpot, use their current official program materials for the criteria described above.
- Read the specific terms. Record the qualifying action, commission basis, attribution or lead-validity period, exclusions, payment schedule, payout threshold and currency. For networks, do this for each advertiser offer, not only the network.
- Estimate conservatively. Base a projection on the actual qualifying action and terms, not on the maximum advertised rate. Treat commissions as uncertain until referrals are accepted and payable.
- Recheck before relying on the offer. Program terms change. Shopify’s roundup is dated June 29, 2026, and its own terms, Amazon’s program page and HubSpot’s agreement were checked on October 7, 2026; re-open the applicable official terms when you apply and before making an income forecast.
Why “best” does not mean most profitable for everyone
An affiliate program can have attractive terms and still be a poor fit if its products do not match your readers or its approval rules exclude your site. Conversely, a relevant offer may be worth evaluating even when the available evidence does not establish a headline rate. Compare the complete terms and the likelihood that your audience will find the offer useful; do not treat a maximum commission, a network name or a roundup mention as a prediction of profit.
