The 7NEWS and Alinta Energy competition covered by PerthNow in November 2023 offered the winner a $5,000 Eftpos gift card and payment of their Alinta Gas bill for a year, up to $1,000. It is a historical promotion: entries closed on 15 December 2023 and voting ended on 24 December 2023.
What was the prize?
PerthNow reported that the winner would receive a $5,000 Eftpos gift card, plus payment of their Alinta Gas bill for one year, capped at $1,000. These were the terms reported for the 2023 competition, not confirmed terms for any later edition. Read PerthNow’s 29 November 2023 report.
How did the 2023 competition work?
Entrants were asked to submit a photo or video of their home Christmas-lights display by 11:59 p.m. on Friday 15 December 2023. Voting was scheduled for 18–24 December. The report said the winner would be selected through a combination of public voting and a 7NEWS judging panel, with the announcement planned for Christmas night at 6 p.m. on 7NEWS.
Is the competition open now?
No. The entry and voting dates for this edition have passed. A separate 7NEWS report published on 25 December 2025 announced winners in a later Light Up Christmas competition, confirming that edition had also closed; its results and terms should not be treated as updates to the 2023 promotion.
