1. Search the Expedia Help Center
The Expedia Help Center is the best starting point when you need to understand a policy or solve a routine problem without immediately speaking to an agent.
- Open the Help Center.
- Search using plain language, such as “cancel hotel,” “refund,” “missing booking,” “flight changed,” or “duplicate charge.”
- Choose the relevant category, including Flights, Refunds & Charges, Packages, Stays, Cars, Cruises, Things to do, Account, Security, Travel Alerts, or Loyalty & Rewards.
- Sign in if Expedia requests it so the available guidance can be matched to your itinerary.
The older Expedia service URL may redirect to the Help Center. The public page does not expose every dynamic article in full to unauthenticated visitors, so move to Trips, chat, or phone support if the general guidance does not answer your booking-specific question.
2. Manage the booking through Expedia Trips
For an existing reservation, Expedia Trips is usually the fastest route for a cancellation, date change, refund request, or other eligible adjustment.
- Open Expedia Trips and sign in to the account used for the reservation.
- Open the correct itinerary.
- Select the available change, cancellation, refund, or booking-management option.
- Before submitting, review the cancellation deadline, fee, refund amount, payment method, and any travel-credit terms.
- Save the confirmation page and email.
Self-service options depend on the booking’s fare rules, hotel policy, supplier restrictions, and applicable terms. Trips cannot turn a nonrefundable reservation into a refundable one or override a supplier’s cancellation policy. Expedia’s Terms of Service explain that availability and refund rights vary by booking.
3. Find a booking without signing in
You do not necessarily need an Expedia account to retrieve a guest booking. This is especially useful if you booked as a guest or used a different email address from the one attached to your current Expedia account.
- Open Expedia Trips.
- Choose Find your booking.
- Enter the itinerary number and the email address used when making the reservation.
- Open the recovered itinerary and use the available management or support options.
If the booking is still missing, check the confirmation email and spam folder. Confirm that the itinerary number is correct, the email address matches exactly, and you are using the Expedia regional site where the booking was made. If that fails, use official chat or phone support.
4. Use Expedia’s Virtual Agent and chat
Chat is often the most useful route when you want a written record of what Expedia tells you about a cancellation, refund, charge, or escalation.

- Select Chat now.
- Describe the problem clearly and provide the itinerary information requested.
- If the Virtual Agent cannot resolve the issue, ask for or select the human-agent option when it is offered.
- Save the transcript, case number, promised action, and deadline.
Expedia says its Virtual Agent can answer questions, help manage a trip, and connect travelers to a human when needed. That does not mean every chat immediately reaches a person or that every issue can be transferred.
For a financial dispute, write the desired outcome explicitly: “I am requesting cancellation under the displayed policy,” “I am asking where my refund was sent,” or “I need a case number for this duplicate charge.” Clear wording makes the record more useful later.
5. Reach Expedia by phone through its official website
Phone support is appropriate when departure or check-in is imminent, the booking involves multiple suppliers, or self-service and chat have not resolved the problem.
- Go to the official Expedia contact page.
- Under phone support, select Get started.
- Answer the questions about your booking, region, and issue.
- Call only the number Expedia provides for that case.
- Write down the agent’s name, case or reference number, promised action, refund amount if stated, and expected date.
Do not assume that one number works worldwide. Expedia’s US, UK, Canadian, Indian, Australian, and other regional pages can display different languages, currencies, categories, and contact options. Use the site where you booked, such as the UK contact page, Canada contact page, or India contact page.

6. Use the official Expedia mobile app
The official Expedia app can keep reservation details together, display trips, support booking management, and send travel alerts such as flight delays and gate changes. Install the app published by Expedia rather than a similarly named third-party application.

- Open the official Expedia app listing for your device. The official Android listing is one verified source.
- Sign in with the account used for the booking.
- Open the trip from the Trips area.
- Use the available manage-booking or support option.
- If the in-app route fails, open the Help Center in a browser.
Menu names can change by operating system, app version, country, and account status. The Google Play listing currently displays [email protected] as app support, but this should be treated as an app-support contact, not a verified general email channel for resolving every booking dispute.
7. Use a fallback route or contact the actual supplier
The final route includes several legitimate alternatives, each with a different purpose.

Expedia’s Trip Matching FAQ directs people seeking booking support to contact Expedia on Facebook Messenger or visit its service page. Messenger may help with routing, but it should not be treated as a guaranteed substitute for official phone or chat support.
Do not send passwords, one-time passcodes, full card numbers, or unnecessary identity documents through social media. Expedia also maintains an official X account, but public or social-media messaging is not a guaranteed booking-resolution channel.

Sometimes Expedia is not the party that can make the change. Expedia’s terms state that some low-cost-airline cancellations or changes must be handled directly with the airline. A hotel may also be the fastest source of help when it cannot find a reservation at check-in, while a car-rental company or activity provider may control its own operational issue.
If Expedia redirected you to another booking service, the resulting reservation may be with that third party rather than Expedia. Check the confirmation email to identify who charged you and who issued the supplier confirmation.

Refunds, cancellations, and who is responsible
Do not assume that contacting Expedia automatically creates a refund. The result depends on the booking’s cancellation terms, whether the supplier approved the refund, who processed the payment, and whether the reservation was a standalone product or part of a package.
Expedia’s Terms of Service state that refunds generally return to the original payment method and are made by the party that took the original payment. Expedia also says it may not have visibility into a travel provider’s refund process.

- Who charged your card or bank account
- Whether the booking was refundable
- Whether a supplier approved the refund
- Whether the money will return to a card, bank account, travel credit, or OneKeyCash
- The amount being returned and any nonrefundable fee
- Which deadline and country-specific terms apply
If a refund is overdue, first ask Expedia or the payment-taking supplier for a case number and written status. A card issuer should generally be considered only after you have documented the booking terms, cancellation request, merchant response, and expected refund.
Important booking exceptions
Package bookings
A flight, hotel, and other components in a package may have separate cancellation and refund rules. Do not assume that canceling one component automatically cancels the entire package on the same terms.
Low-cost airlines
Expedia says some changes or cancellations for low-cost airlines can only be completed directly with the airline. Keep both the Expedia itinerary and the airline’s confirmation code.
Changes made directly with a supplier
Expedia warns that it may not be notified when a traveler changes or cancels directly with an airline, and the change may not appear in the Expedia itinerary. Save the supplier’s confirmation, reference number, and timestamp.
Third-party redirects
If Expedia sent you to another booking service and that service completed the transaction, the third party may control the booking, payment, cancellation, and refund. The confirmation email should identify the responsible merchant.

Missing confirmation email
Check your spam folder and verify the email address entered at checkout. Expedia’s terms say to contact the Help Center if a booking confirmation has not arrived within 24 hours.
In-trip emergencies
Expedia support cannot replace emergency services, airport operations, an airline’s airport desk, or a hotel’s front desk. For immediate safety or operational problems, contact the local emergency service or on-site supplier first, then document the issue for Expedia.

- Keep the original itinerary, confirmation email, receipts, screenshots, and supplier communications together.
- Use the official channel for the region where you booked.
- Switch from self-service to chat or phone if the available option does not match your problem.
- State one specific requested resolution and the date by which it is needed.
- Ask for a case or reference number and save the transcript.
- If the supplier controls the transaction, contact that supplier as well.
- For a formal written complaint, use the Traveler Support address in Expedia’s applicable terms and retain proof of delivery.
Changing channels is useful when the first route cannot handle the issue, but opening multiple contradictory requests can create confusion. Give each new agent the existing case number and a short timeline.
How to avoid Expedia customer-service scams
Fake Expedia phone numbers commonly appear in search results, advertisements, and unofficial webpages. Use Expedia’s official contact page and let Expedia’s own flow provide the number.
According to Expedia’s contact guidance, Expedia will not ask for your password, one-time passcode, wire transfer, or gift card to pay for a trip. End the conversation if someone demands any of these. Do not click links sent by an alleged agent until you independently open Expedia’s website or app.
