These are editorial picks by category—not an official H&M ranking. The retailer’s fall page specifically highlights knitwear, denim, pants, long-sleeved tops, sweater dresses, and boots; the examples below are drawn from its new-arrivals listings, where names, prices, colors, and stock can change.
How to use this edit
Think of these as wardrobe roles rather than a seven-item shopping list. Start with the category that fills a gap in your closet, then check the live product page for the exact design, listed materials, care information, available colors and sizes, and current price. H&M’s Fall Essentials page describes its seasonal range as including “cozy knitwear, denim, pants, long-sleeved tops and sweater dresses” and boots. That is the retailer’s own seasonal framing, not independent evidence of a trend or a recommendation to buy every category.
Seven fall-staple categories in H&M new arrivals
1. A transitional jacket
A jacket is the most direct outerwear option in this edit. H&M’s captured U.S. women’s new-arrivals listing showed a Collarless Jacket at $49.99 and a Funnel-Collar Jacket at $59.99. Those are listing snapshots, not guaranteed current prices or stock. Compare the live product pages for their actual construction, color options, sizing, and price before deciding; the names alone do not establish warmth or weather protection.
2. A cardigan or other knit layer
A cardigan gives you a separate layer to style over a top. The captured listing included a Wrap Cardigan at $29.99 and a Bow-Collar Sweater at $19.99. Those displayed prices are volatile snapshots, and the styles serve different visual roles: one is named as a wrap cardigan, while the other is a sweater with a bow collar. Check each live listing for material and care details rather than assuming a particular level of warmth or performance.

3. A long-sleeved top or shirt
H&M names long-sleeved tops among its fall categories, and its new-arrivals page includes shirts and tops. This is a useful category to consider when you want an easy base layer under a jacket or knit. Select a specific item from the live listing, then use its product description—not the category label or image—to confirm sleeve style, fabric, and care instructions.
4. Jeans
Denim is another category H&M calls out for fall, and jeans appear among its new arrivals. Choose a cut and wash based on what you already wear and the silhouettes you want to pair with your tops and layers. A product’s listed cut can describe its design, but it cannot establish that the fit will be flattering or comfortable for every shopper; check the item page and size information.

5. Trousers
H&M’s fall page also names pants, and the new-arrivals listing includes trouser styles. Trousers can provide an alternative to jeans when you want a different silhouette or styling option. Compare the actual product descriptions for cut, material, and color; do not infer drape, comfort, or durability from a name or photograph.
6. A dress
H&M specifically lists sweater dresses as a fall category, while its new arrivals include dresses more broadly. If you want a knit dress, verify that the individual product is identified as a sweater dress on its live page; not every dress is one. Check its listed material and design details before choosing how you might layer or style it.

7. Boots
Boots appear in H&M’s own fall-season language, making footwear a natural category to check alongside clothing. The available new-arrivals listing did not establish a particular current boot style or price. Browse the live footwear inventory for specific options and confirm the product details, size availability, and displayed price before purchasing.

- Price and stock: The captured new-arrivals listing showed the named jacket and knitwear prices above, but prices and inventory can change. Check the product page at the time you shop.
- Materials and care: Read the individual listing for composition and washing instructions; category names do not supply those details.
- Color and sizing: Confirm the colors and sizes currently offered for the exact item. Availability may differ between products and change over time.
- What the item can do: Retailer category copy and product names do not, on their own, establish warmth, comfort, durability, fit, or weather resistance.
For a broader view of H&M’s fall merchandise, its Fall Fashion page provides additional category context. H&M also presents a separate H&M Studio A/W 2026 limited-edition collection, described by the retailer as combining intricate embellishment and refined tailoring. That campaign is distinct from the ordinary new-arrivals examples here; its pieces should not be assumed to include or represent every item in this edit.
