WordPress.com currently advertises savings of up to 55% in the U.S. pricing view, but there is no verified universal “55% off” coupon code. The 55% label applies to specific plans and prepaid terms: Personal and Premium on annual billing, and Commerce on three-year billing. Business shows 56% on three-year billing. See the official WordPress.com pricing page for the live checkout total, taxes and renewal terms.

The verified WordPress.com 55% deal

WordPress.com compares its regular monthly price with longer prepaid terms. The amount shown as “per month” is a monthly equivalent, not a month-to-month payment. The following totals are calculated from the displayed equivalents; your checkout can vary with tax, currency, add-ons or a changed promotion.

Plan Term producing the 55% claim Displayed monthly equivalent Approximate amount paid upfront Displayed saving
Personal Annual $4 $48 for 12 months 55%
Premium Annual $8 $96 for 12 months 55%
Business Three-year $17.50 $630 for 36 months 56%
Commerce Three-year $31.50 $1,134 for 36 months 55%

For context, the pricing page also lists these monthly-equivalent rates: Personal $9 monthly, $4 annual, $3.25 for two years and $2.75 for three years; Premium $18, $8, $6.50 and $5.50; Business $40, $25, $20 and $17.50; Commerce $70, $45, $36 and $31.50. The displayed savings vary by term: Personal and Premium show 55%, 63% and 69%; Business 37%, 50% and 56%; Commerce 35%, 48% and 55%.

These are WordPress.com plan prices, not a discount on the free WordPress.org software or on hosting bought from another company.

Is there a current 55%-off coupon code?

No universal 55%-off code is confirmed on WordPress.com’s official pages. The pricing-page reduction is applied by selecting the qualifying billing term. WordPress.com’s sales FAQ says it may distribute separate, limited-time flash-sale codes by email or campaign page.

  • Enable promotional mail at Profile → Notification Settings → Updates → Promotions.
  • The campaign email or landing page controls the code’s expiry date, country, product and billing-term eligibility.
  • Third-party coupon pages can list expired or unverified offers; do not treat a code as valid until WordPress.com accepts it in your checkout.

How to claim the official saving or apply a code

  1. Open wordpress.com/pricing and select Personal, Premium, Business or Commerce.
  2. Choose the annual, two-year or three-year option that displays the saving you want.
  3. Review the full amount charged today. Do not mistake the monthly-equivalent figure for a monthly invoice.
  4. Continue to checkout and inspect the summary for taxes, domain terms, renewal price and refund conditions.
  5. If you have a current WordPress.com campaign code, select “Have a coupon?” below the payment details, enter it and apply it. Codes are not case-sensitive.
  6. Confirm that the reduced total and the correct product appear before paying, then save the receipt and renewal information.

Renewal, eligibility and refund rules

Discounts normally cover only the first term

WordPress.com states that sale coupons apply to the first subscription period. Later renewals are charged at the regular rate for the selected billing cycle. Record the renewal amount shown in checkout; it can be substantially higher than the introductory equivalent.

Existing customers

  • A sale coupon cannot be applied to an ordinary renewal of an existing paid plan.
  • A promotion may apply to a new purchase or an upgrade to a higher tier, depending on its terms.
  • Reusing the same code for the same site after cancellation and repurchase is not allowed.
  • If you purchased recently without a code, WordPress.com says a refund and repurchase may be possible within the applicable refund period, only if the campaign is still available; it is not automatic.
  • Free-plan and trial users may qualify for a new paid-plan promotion. Eligibility depends on the account, product, country, term and campaign. Support documentation says a qualifying code may work across multiple sites on one account.

Domains, email and other add-ons

Do not assume a coupon covers a domain, Professional Email or Google Workspace. The campaign determines those products. Annual and multi-year paid plans currently include a free custom domain for the first year; monthly plans do not. A narrow official exception may refund or credit a recently purchased qualifying domain when the plan is bought within a 96-hour window and other extension and eligibility conditions are met.

What you get with WordPress.com plans

  • Managed hosting: hosting, security and platform maintenance are bundled, so a separate hosting account is not required.
  • Plugins: the current pricing page says plugin installation is available on all paid plans, including Personal. The free plan does not include plugin installation.
  • Personal: the entry paid tier for a basic blog, portfolio or small site.
  • Premium: adds more creator and design-oriented capability for readers who need more than the entry tier.
  • Business: aimed at advanced business sites and broader site functionality.
  • Commerce: intended for online stores and WooCommerce-oriented requirements; choose it for store features, not simply because its three-year term displays 55%.

The free plan uses a WordPress.com subdomain and does not include a custom domain or plugins.

WordPress.com versus self-hosted WordPress

“WordPress” can mean two different products. WordPress.org is open-source software that you install on hosting purchased separately. WordPress.com is Automattic’s hosted service, with hosting and platform management included in its plans. A WordPress.com promotion cannot be used for Bluehost, DreamHost, Hostinger or another host.

Choose WordPress.com when… Consider self-hosting when…
You want managed hosting, security, backups and updates in one service. You need server-level access, unusual infrastructure or maximum host choice.
You prefer a bundled domain-and-hosting workflow and plugin access without server administration. You are comfortable managing backups, security, caching, updates and migrations.
You want a straightforward blog, portfolio, business site or supported store. You want to move freely between hosts or use a provider’s specialized stack.

Compare the full commitment, renewal price, refund window, email needs, plugin and theme requirements, and migration effort—not just the headline percentage.

Self-hosted alternatives to compare

DreamHost

DreamHost’s promotional page showed a four-year introductory Web Hosting Launch price of $1.99 per month renewing at $7.99, and Growth at $3.49 for the first four years renewing at $8.99. These are long prepaid introductory terms for conventional self-hosted hosting, not WordPress.com prices.

Bluehost

Bluehost’s promotion FAQ says offers apply to newly created hosting packages and the first invoice, not renewals, upgrades or extensions. Current figures should be taken from its live signup flow.

Hostinger

Hostinger’s coupon page says discounts change and can reach up to 90% on some services. Eligibility and amounts vary when viewed, and only one coupon may be used per order.

When a code fails

  1. Recheck the spelling and remember that capitalization does not matter.
  2. Confirm that the code is unexpired and intended for your country, account, product and billing term.
  3. Remove another promotion if one is already applied; never assume offers stack.
  4. Enter the code in WordPress.com checkout, not a third-party host’s checkout.
  5. If all conditions match and it still fails, contact WordPress.com support with the campaign email and checkout details.

The savings claim is real on the official pricing page, but it is tied to particular plans and prepaid terms rather than a universal coupon code.

Does the deal include a domain?

Annual and multi-year paid plans currently include a free custom domain for the first year. Monthly plans do not, and campaign codes may exclude domains or email products.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What is the cheapest paid plan with plugins?

Personal is the lowest paid tier shown with plugin installation. The free plan does not include plugins.

Can I use a WordPress.com coupon on Bluehost or another host?

No. WordPress.com coupons apply to WordPress.com checkout only; other hosts run separate promotions.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: WordPress.com’s up-to-55% offer is a genuine plan-and-term price reduction, not a confirmed universal 55%-off code. Select the qualifying term, verify the prepaid total and renewal price, and choose WordPress.com for managed hosting—not merely for the headline percentage.
