5 Indian Stocks with FCF Yields of Around 30% or More

A dated Value Research screen lists five Indian stocks with five-year median FCF yields of 30% to 102%. The ratios are not returns—and debt, volatility and audit concerns matter.

Value Research’s 5 October 2026 screen reported five Indian stocks with five-year median free cash flow (FCF) yields from 30% to 102%. The figures use market-cap data dated 15 September 2026; they are screen results, not current live rankings, forecast returns or dividend yields. A high FCF yield can flag a low share valuation relative to past cash generation, but it does not explain why the valuation is low—or establish that the cash is available to shareholders.

Which stocks made the screen?

Value Research screened Indian companies with market capitalisation above Rs 1,000 crore. It calculated yield using each company’s five-year median FCF and market capitalisation as of 15 September 2026. The article was published on 5 October 2026. These are the publication’s reported figures; they have not been independently recalculated using later prices or filings.

Company Reported five-year median FCF yield Company-specific discussion in the article
Reliance Infrastructure 102% Detailed
Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers (TNPL) 37% Detailed
Reliance Power 37% Named in the screen; equivalent company-specific risk analysis not provided
Omaxe 36% Named in the screen; equivalent company-specific risk analysis not provided
GTL Infrastructure 30% Detailed

Value Research excluded PTC India because its consolidated accounts include an NBFC, making conventional FCF less comparable with that of operating companies. Value Research

How to interpret an FCF yield

What the calculation captures

FCF is cash flow from operations less capital expenditure. The screen divides the median FCF over the previous five years by current market capitalisation. Using a median rather than a single year is intended to reduce the influence of an unusually strong year.

The ratio compares historical cash generation with the market value of the company’s equity. It is not the return an investor has earned or is promised, and it is not a dividend yield: the company may not distribute that cash, and creditors and other claims have priority over equity holders.

Why a high figure can mislead

  • Debt and senior claims: Cash generation may be substantial while borrowings, interest, minority interests or other obligations limit what belongs to shareholders.
  • Temporary cash-flow boosts: Collections, working-capital releases or a pause in capital spending can lift FCF without establishing a sustainable run rate.
  • Business deterioration: A falling share price can raise the yield mechanically even as the underlying business weakens.
  • Uncertainty in reported figures or assets: Audit qualifications, going-concern concerns and difficulty valuing assets can make a low market valuation a warning rather than a bargain.

Reliance Infrastructure: 102%

Value Research reported five-year median FCF of about Rs 2,192 crore against market capitalisation of Rs 2,153 crore. FY26 operating cash flow was Rs 2,550 crore, with BSES Rajdhani and BSES Yamuna contributing nearly three-fourths, according to the article.

The article reported Rs 1,709 crore in cash and cash equivalents, Rs 495 crore in bank balances, investments above Rs 10,000 crore, and borrowings including accrued interest of about Rs 8,166 crore. It also flagged minority interests and serious audit concerns: the FY26 auditor issued a disclaimer of opinion and highlighted uncertainty around Rs 4,706 crore of exposure to Odisha distribution rights and certain unlisted securities. These issues are central to interpreting a yield above 100%; the ratio alone does not establish that the cash generation or asset values are readily available to equity holders.

TNPL: 37%

The reported five-year median FCF was about Rs 396 crore. Profits varied sharply: Rs 14 crore in FY22, Rs 388 crore in FY23, Rs 4 crore in FY25 and Rs 248 crore in FY26. FY26 FCF was about Rs 199 crore as capital expenditure rose to nearly Rs 397 crore.

That contrast between the median and latest-year FCF matters: the screen’s historical median is not the same as the most recent cash result. Value Research also described paper as a cyclical business, with margins exposed to pulp and energy prices and imports.

GTL Infrastructure: 30%

Value Research reported positive FCF in each of the previous five years and median FCF of about Rs 428 crore. But at March 2026, it reported negative net worth of about Rs 5,215 crore and borrowings including accrued interest of roughly Rs 6,332 crore. The auditor flagged material uncertainty over the company’s ability to continue as a going concern.

The article said operating cash generation was helped by low tower capital expenditure and working-capital releases. More than half of the company’s 21,220 towers were unoccupied at March 2026, and settlements with lenders were central to survival. Those conditions make the headline yield an incomplete measure of equity value.

How to use the list responsibly

  • Check the date and method before treating a yield as current: these figures use market capitalisation from 15 September 2026 and a five-year median, rather than a live price and one-year FCF.
  • Compare the five-year median with the latest year’s FCF, then ask what changed in capex, collections and working capital.
  • Read cash and investments alongside borrowings, interest and other claims; gross cash generation is not the same as cash left for shareholders.
  • Look for operating and audit risks that could explain the market’s valuation. A high ratio alone cannot distinguish mispricing from distress or a temporary cash-flow peak.
  • Do not assume the five entries have been assessed with equal depth: the article names Reliance Power and Omaxe in the screen but does not provide equivalent company-specific analysis for them.

Value Research’s own summary captures the distinction: “The screen tells us where cash generation looks unusually large compared with equity value. It does not tell us why.”
