Then make the change easy to spot with a short old-and-new price note in the title or description. You can also update a photo or share the listing; those are optional ways to communicate the change, not a substitute for changing the actual price.
1. Change the listing’s actual price
Open your Marketplace listing, edit it, change the Price field to the new asking price, and save or update the listing. This is the step that changes what you are asking. A title or description note only explains the change to shoppers.
Menu names can differ by device, app version, and region. A seller guide updated April 22, 2026, describes this mobile route: Marketplace → Your listings (or Selling) → select the item → Edit → change Price → Save/Publish. On desktop, it describes Marketplace → Your listings → open the item → Edit → change Price → save. These are reported paths, not a guarantee that every account has identical labels. Pocket Money NZ’s guide is written in a New Zealand context.
An older PDF reproducing a Facebook Help Center sequence describes desktop controls as Selling in the left menu → Your listings → Options on the listing → Edit listing → edit details → Update. 2. Put the old and new prices in the title
A compact note such as “Was $120, now $80” can make the reduction visible while shoppers scan listings. Use the currency and amounts that apply to your listing, and make sure the new figure matches the Price field. The wording is a seller-added note, not an official Facebook price-drop badge. This suggestion appears in Pocket Money NZ’s seller guide.
3. Explain the reduction in the description
Add one brief, factual line near the top of the description, for example: “Price reduced from $120 to $80; current asking price is $80.” This gives people who open the listing the context without making them infer the change from an earlier conversation. Keep the listing’s Price field authoritative if the two ever conflict. The seller guide recommends noting a markdown in the description.

4. Update a photo if a visual note helps
You can revise a listing photo to include the new price or a short sale note if that makes the change clearer. Keep the text readable and the image accurate, and still update the actual Price field. A photo treatment is optional seller communication; the available guidance does not establish that it improves results. Pocket Money NZ’s guide suggests updating photos when helpful.

After saving the change, you may be able to share the updated listing. Some seller guidance also mentions renewing or relisting, but the control may not appear for every listing or account, and its availability or effect is not established as universal. Treat these as optional interface-dependent actions, not guaranteed ways to increase reach. Position Is Everything’s guide suggests sharing and mentions renew/relist options.

What a price edit does—and what is not confirmed
- The Price field is the current asking price; title, description, and photo notes merely help communicate the change.
- The available sources do not establish whether editing a price sends a notification to people who saved or contacted the listing, or whether Facebook displays an official price-drop badge. Do not promise either outcome.
