OpenText World 2025, held in Nashville from November 17–20, 2025, presented five connected AI initiatives rather than five isolated features: the OpenText AI Data Platform, Aviator Studio, Knowledge Discovery, Data Compliance and Aviator AI Services. OpenText’s strategy is to put governed, contextualized enterprise information underneath AI agents and automated workflows. The announcements describe a product direction and an 18-month OT 26.1–OT 27.2 roadmap, so buyers should separate planned capabilities from generally available functionality.
The official announcement is available at OpenText’s OpenText World 2025 release, while contemporary coverage provides the five-part breakdown at CRN.
The five announcements at a glance
| Announcement | Role in the stack | What was announced | Maturity to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI Data Platform | Foundation | Governed data, models, applications and agent orchestration across cloud and on-premises environments | Primarily an architecture and roadmap announcement |
| Aviator Studio | Agent development | No-code agent building, multi-agent choreography, model brokerage, prompt libraries and guardrails | Confirm supported models, deployment options and release availability |
| Knowledge Discovery | Data preparation | Ingestion, metadata tagging, classification, knowledge graphs and contextual connections | Confirm source connectors, language support and real-time limits |
| Data Compliance | Protection and governance | Redaction, PII controls, tokenization, encryption, privacy and threat monitoring | Controls do not constitute legal compliance certification |

1. OpenText AI Data Platform
OpenText describes the AI Data Platform as the common foundation for enterprise information and agents. It is intended to ingest structured and unstructured data, turn it into contextual products such as knowledge graphs, apply governance and connect agents to business applications.
The proposed architecture is open and API-based, with support for multi-cloud, hybrid and on-premises deployment, multiple large and small language models, bring-your-own-model approaches and integrations across ERP, CRM and other applications. OpenText also announced integration plans involving SAP, Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, Oracle and Databricks. The Databricks relationship includes technical integrations and Delta Sharing, but the announcement does not establish universal availability for every customer.

- Manage your payments and deposit transactions

- Connect to the app with secure web access
This is a strategic repositioning: OpenText is arguing that trusted business information, rather than a model alone, is the control point for enterprise AI. The platform should not be described as one fully mature, generally available product without checking the applicable OT release and entitlement. Product information is at OpenText’s AI Data Platform page.
2. Aviator Studio
Aviator Studio is OpenText’s proposed no-code environment for designing, connecting, orchestrating and governing agents. Announced capabilities include reusable prompt libraries, model selection or brokerage, connections to internal and external data pipelines, multi-agent workflows and configurable guardrails intended to mitigate misuse such as prompt injection.
Its claimed distinction is the combination of agent design with OpenText content, permissions, business-process integration and multi-model deployment. “No-code” does not mean no engineering: identity design, integrations, testing, monitoring, security review and change management still need owners.
Before adopting it, ask which models and versions are supported, whether agents can be deployed in private or on-premises environments, who can change prompts and guardrails, how actions are logged, and whether permissions are enforced again when an agent writes to another system. See OpenText Aviator Studio.

3. Knowledge Discovery
Knowledge Discovery is the information-preparation layer. OpenText says it can ingest structured and unstructured sources, automate metadata tagging, connect to sources in real time, build knowledge graphs and expose relationships across functions such as HR, IT, finance, supply chain and engineering.
That addresses a common enterprise problem: large information stores with inconsistent metadata, duplicate files, unclear ownership and incomplete access context. Better classification can improve retrieval and agent grounding, but it does not guarantee complete or factual answers.
- Real-time connections depend on source APIs, rate limits, schemas and synchronized permissions.
- Unstructured ingestion may require OCR, extraction, language handling and normalization.
- Poor tags or duplicated records can still produce poor retrieval.
- Cross-functional context must respect role-based access and need-to-know rules.
- Knowledge graphs describe relationships; they do not by themselves eliminate model errors.
OpenText’s broader data-management positioning is described at Manage and connect data.
4. Data Compliance
Data Compliance moves privacy and security controls into the AI data pipeline and runtime. The announced capabilities include AI-readiness assessments, redaction, personally identifiable information controls, tokenization, encryption, privacy protection, threat detection and privilege-scoped access to AI interactions.

These controls address practical risks: sensitive information entering prompts or retrieval indexes, agents taking actions beyond a user’s authority, data-residency requirements, retention and deletion obligations, and the need to audit AI-assisted decisions.
There are trade-offs. Redaction and tokenization can remove context; stronger policy checks can add latency and implementation work; and encryption does not improve model quality. “AI-ready” is not a universal certification, and these capabilities do not by themselves make a deployment compliant with a particular law. Review the underlying inventory, identity model, policies and audit design. OpenText’s security and compliance overview is at Built-in security and compliance.
5. Aviator AI Services
Aviator AI Services is OpenText Professional Services support for the difficult work between a demonstration and production. OpenText says consultants can assess use cases, clean and normalize data, implement purpose-built agents, support deployment and adoption, and define a business case and ROI measure.
This is commercially significant because enterprise projects commonly stall over unclear data ownership, weak integrations, missing access controls and no agreed success metric. Services can help, but the announcement does not promise a standard timeline or return on investment.

How the five pieces fit together
The practical dependency chain is:
- Connect enterprise data: identify repositories, applications, ownership and access rights.
- Discover and prepare it: ingest, extract, normalize, classify and tag information.
- Apply protection: enforce identity, retention, privacy, redaction, tokenization and encryption policies.
- Provide the foundation: use the AI Data Platform to coordinate data, models, governance and applications.
- Build agents: design and test workflows in Aviator Studio with bounded tools and approval gates.
- Operate and measure: monitor actions, review failures and connect outcomes to a defined business metric.
An agent studio alone cannot deliver production-grade automation if the data, permissions and operating model are not ready.

OpenText described an 18-month plan spanning OT 26.1 through OT 27.2. Treat release timing, packaging, supported products and deployment options as plans that require confirmation, not guarantees.
The November 18, 2025 announcement said an Aviator entry tier was planned to be included at no additional fee with upgrades to OT 26.1 for Content Management, Service Management and Communications Management. It also said on-premises availability would begin with OT 26.1 for selected products. That statement does not make every Aviator capability free or generally available.

Questions to ask before buying
- Footprint: Which existing OpenText products and repositories will be reused, and what integration work remains?
- Location: Can the use case run on-premises, in a private cloud or in a sovereign environment if required?
- Models: Which providers and versions are supported, and can the organization switch models later?
- Data readiness: How good are metadata, OCR, deduplication, retention rules, permissions and source APIs?
- Agent governance: Are prompts, policies, tools and versions auditable, approvable and reversible?
- Security boundaries: Does every retrieval and downstream action inherit the user’s authorization?
- Integration depth: Is the agent read-only, or can it write to ERP, CRM, ticketing or supply-chain systems?
- Operations: Who maintains pipelines, prompts, models, guardrails, tests and incident response?
- Total cost: What are the license, storage, connector, model, implementation and support charges?
- Outcome: What measurable result defines a successful pilot?
Where the strategy can fall short
Trusted data is not automatically accurate AI
Permissions, metadata and graphs can improve grounding, but source quality, retrieval design, prompts, model behavior and evaluation still determine reliability.
Multi-model flexibility adds complexity
Different models vary in output quality, context limits, tool-calling behavior, cost, latency, data location and safety controls. A model matrix and repeatable evaluation are essential.
Real-time access creates dependencies
Fresh data can be valuable, but outages, rate limits, schema changes and delayed permission synchronization can interrupt workflows or expose stale context.

What the announcements mean
The significance of OpenText World 2025 is not simply five new AI labels. OpenText is trying to make governed enterprise information the control point for agentic automation, combining data preparation, compliance, orchestration and services around its information-management footprint. That can be compelling for organizations already invested in OpenText and operating under strict data or sovereignty requirements. Buyers with little OpenText infrastructure, a need for a lightweight chatbot, or a preference for transparent self-service pricing may find the stack heavier than necessary.
