Among five U.S.-focused exchanges reviewed on October 7, 2026, Binance.US lists the lowest posted Advanced Spot trading rates: 0% maker and 0.02% taker on most pairs. That does not make it cheapest for every trade. Your total cost can also depend on the pair, order type, funding method, spread, withdrawal network, account tier and whether the service is available in your state.
This comparison uses each provider’s published entry-tier spot rates where available. The products are not identical: an order-book trade is not directly comparable to a one-click app purchase, and Robinhood’s exchange-routed fee tiers are not a single entry taker rate.
Which crypto exchange has the lowest fees?
On the published spot trading schedules reviewed October 7, 2026, Binance.US has the lowest stated rates among these five exchanges: 0% maker and 0.02% taker on most Advanced Spot pairs. Its current Tier 0 BNB/USD pair has a 0% maker and 0.01% taker rate. These are trading fees, not a guarantee of the lowest all-in cost: the schedules do not establish realized spreads, liquidity or execution quality, and availability and eligible pairs vary.
The comparison below distinguishes order-book trading from exchange-routed app orders and instant-purchase products. The fee figures are the providers’ published rates, not fees measured on a sample trade.

What are maker and taker fees?
A maker order rests on the order book and adds liquidity; a taker order matches against available orders immediately. A market order is generally taker. A limit order is not automatically maker: it qualifies as maker only when it rests on the book before filling. If part of an order fills immediately and the rest later rests, those portions can receive different fee treatment.

That distinction matters when comparing the table’s rates. The maker rate is not the cost of an ordinary market buy. The fee charged depends on how the order executes, not simply on whether you selected “limit” or “market.”
How much does it cost to buy crypto?
For an order-book purchase, the basic trading-fee calculation is the executed amount multiplied by the applicable maker or taker rate. For example, a $1,000 order that executes entirely at a 0.02% taker rate would incur $0.20 in trading fees, before any funding, spread or withdrawal costs. At a 0.80% taker rate, the same notional amount would incur $8 in trading fees. These illustrations apply only if the stated rate applies to the actual order and do not include other costs.

For instant or app-based purchases, the displayed price can include a spread or use a different routing and fee model. Kraken’s fee page, for example, lists a 1% trading fee for Instant Buy/Sell instant and recurring trades and 1.5% for custom orders; spread and payment fees may also apply. Those charges are separate from Kraken Pro spot rates and should not be used as a substitute for them.
Before placing an order, review the actual preview or confirmation screen. Compare the quoted price with the market price, inspect the explicit fee, and check whether the transaction is an order-book trade, instant purchase or exchange-routed app order.

How volume tiers change the comparison
The entry rates are not necessarily the rates an active trader pays. Coinbase uses trailing 30-day USD-equivalent volume across its order books and excludes stable pairs from the tier calculation. Kraken Pro bases its fee tier on eligible spot volume or assets on platform; Instant Buy volume does not count toward Pro fee incentives. Gemini uses trailing 30-day volume or asset balance, recalculating the applicable tier daily. Robinhood counts eligible exchange-routed orders for this purpose, not necessarily standard app trades routed through market makers.
Check the provider’s current account tier and the volume or balance rules that apply to your account. A lower rate may require activity or assets you do not otherwise intend to maintain, so do not treat a higher tier’s advertised rate as your likely cost without qualifying for it.

Are ACH deposits free?
Binance.US and Coinbase list ACH deposits as free in the cited schedules; both also list ACH withdrawals as free. That answers only the ACH question for those providers. Card funding, wires and crypto transfers have separate charges, and the cited figures do not establish identical funding options or costs for Kraken, Gemini and Robinhood.
For Binance.US, debit or credit card funding carries a 3.99% fee, while a wire withdrawal costs $25. Coinbase lists U.S. wire deposits at $10 and withdrawals at $25. Confirm the method and fee shown for your account before transferring money.
What fees apply when I withdraw crypto?
Crypto withdrawals can add costs beyond the exchange’s trading fee. Coinbase assesses estimated network fees for crypto transfers. Binance.US says crypto withdrawal fees vary and displays the charge before confirmation. A withdrawal’s total also depends on the asset and available network; check that the destination supports the same network and compare the amount you will receive after the fee.
Withdrawal charges for the other services are not established by the entry trading rates in this comparison. Verify the live withdrawal preview rather than assuming an exchange’s low trading fee also means a low-cost transfer.

- Confirm state and feature eligibility. Check that the exchange, asset, pair and trading interface you intend to use are available in your state. The fee schedules alone do not establish nationwide availability for every service or pair.
- Use the right comparison. Compare order-book spot rates with order-book spot rates. Treat instant purchase pricing and Robinhood exchange-routed tiers as distinct products, not equivalent entry-tier taker fees.
- Identify your execution type and tier. Determine whether your order is likely to take liquidity or rest as a maker, and check the tier that applies to your account and eligible 30-day activity.
- Include the money movement. Add any deposit, payment, withdrawal and network charges to the trading fee. A low trade rate can be outweighed by an expensive funding method or transfer.
- Inspect the live order preview. Review the amount received, quoted price, explicit fee and any spread or routing details before confirming. Fee pages do not reveal the realized cost of your specific execution.
