The report tools are useful for keeping a broader record; they are separate from looking up one transaction.
1. Browse your PayPal Activity
- Sign in to your PayPal account.
- Open Activity to see account transactions.
- Find the transaction you want to review in the list.
PayPal directs users to Activity when checking a payment’s status. The exact layout may vary by region, account type, or interface version.

2. Search or filter for a payment, then open it
- Open Activity.
- Search for the payment, or use Filters to narrow the list by payment status or transaction type.
- Select the transaction to open its details.
For PayPal Debit Card transactions, PayPal says the Activity listing includes the recipient, payment date, and amount. The details available for other transactions can vary. 3. Download reports or statements on the web
For a saved or downloadable record, use PayPal’s report and statement tools on the web. PayPal’s documented route is:

- Sign in to PayPal on the web and open Activity.
- Select All Reports.
- Choose Payments and Statements – monthly and custom.
- Select the month or report period you need, request the report, and download it when it is ready.
In Classic View, the statement options may instead be labeled Monthly or Custom under Statements. Menu names and availability can differ by account type, region, and interface version. PayPal explains the report and statement options in its statements and reports help article.
Report period and file formats
PayPal’s US Help Center says transaction activity reports can cover up to seven years of activity, with a maximum of 12 months in each request. That is a stated maximum, not a guarantee that every account or region has records for the full period. Listed download formats include PDF, Quicken, QuickBooks, CSV, and TAB.

How reports differ from account statements
A report is useful when you want transaction data for a selected period; a statement is an account record. Under PayPal’s US User Agreement, a personal account linked to a Balance Account receives two statements: one for personal-account transactions and another for Balance Account transactions. That provision applies to the specific account arrangement described in the US User Agreement. PayPal notes that report information is not tax advice.

- To check a recent payment: Browse Activity.
- To locate or inspect one transaction: Search or filter Activity and select the payment.
- To keep a record or review a period: Request a web report or statement and download it.
