On July 15, 2025, soybean futures were lower overnight as reported U.S. crop conditions improved. USDA figures cited in the day’s roundup also showed lower week-over-week export inspections for corn, soybeans and wheat. Separately, the roundup described flood and storm concerns in parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas; those were forecasts for that date, not current alerts.

1. Soybean futures fell as crop-condition ratings improved

The July 15 roundup reported November soybean futures down 2¾¢ to $10.04¼ a bushel overnight. Soybean meal fell 30¢ to $281.40 per short ton, and soybean oil lost 0.17¢ to 53.83¢ a pound. These are historical price snapshots, not current quotes.

USDA crop figures as reported in the roundup showed 70% of soybeans rated good or excellent, compared with 66% one week earlier and 68% for the same week in 2024. Fifteen percent of the crop was setting pods, up from 8% the previous week and above the prior five-year average of 14%.

Other crop and futures figures

  • Corn: 74% was rated good or excellent, unchanged from the prior week and above 68% at the same point in 2024. Seven percent was in the dough stage and 34% was silking. December corn fell 3¼¢ to $4.14¾ a bushel.
  • Winter wheat: Harvest was 63% complete, versus 53% the prior week and a five-year average of 64%. September wheat fell 3¼¢ to $5.38¼ a bushel; Kansas City wheat fell 2¼¢ to $5.20¾ a bushel.
  • Spring wheat: 54% was rated good or excellent, up from 50% the prior week but below 77% a year earlier. Heading was 78% complete, compared with 61% the week before and a five-year average of 75%.

2. Export inspections declined week over week

The roundup reported USDA inspections of grain for offshore delivery for the seven days ending July 10, 2025. Each of the three crops had lower inspections than in the previous week.

The weekly numbers describe inspections during a particular seven-day period; marketing-year-to-date totals provide a broader comparison. The roundup attributed these figures to USDA.

3. The roundup flagged historical flood and storm concerns

Eastern Oklahoma and central Arkansas

The July 15 report said flood watches covered parts of eastern Oklahoma into central Arkansas. It described storms through the morning and scattered showers later. Quoting the National Weather Service as reproduced in the roundup: “Locally heavy rainfall remains possible through today across southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.” This was a forecast for July 15, 2025, not a current warning.

Western and central Kansas

Thunderstorms were possible in western and central Kansas on July 15, with a low severe-weather threat. The roundup said more storms were expected the following day and could become severe. It reproduced the National Weather Service’s forecast language: “The strongest storms will be capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60–70 mph,” and “Quarter to half dollar size hail will also be possible.” These statements describe the forecast as reported for July 15–16, 2025; they should not be treated as active weather guidance.
