Chevrolet describes it as America’s most affordable EV, but its published price figures differ by page and date, and the sources available do not independently establish a nationwide cheapest-EV ranking.
What the 2027 Bolt costs—and why Chevrolet lists different prices
Chevrolet’s current Bolt product page displays a starting price of $27,600. A Chevrolet Newsroom article dated April 22, 2026, instead gives the Bolt LT a starting MSRP of $28,995. Those are figures from different Chevrolet pages; the product-page figure’s destination-charge treatment is not specified in the cited material, so it should not be treated as an out-the-door price.
Chevrolet’s October 2025 launch announcement gave the launch LT an MSRP of $29,990, including a $1,395 destination freight charge, and said a later LT would start at $28,995 including that charge. These are dated manufacturer figures, not a single current transaction price. Check Chevrolet’s live build-and-price details and ask a dealer to itemize destination, taxes, fees, incentives and any dealer-installed options before comparing offers.
Chevrolet calls the Bolt “America’s most affordable EV,” and its comparison page lists the Bolt and Nissan Leaf at $28,995. Both are manufacturer-authored claims or comparisons, not an independent survey of every EV trim, incentive, location and date. The sources here do not establish that the Bolt is currently the cheapest EV in every market.

Range and battery: what 262 miles means
Chevrolet lists an EPA-estimated range of 262 miles for the 2027 Bolt. It is an estimate, not a guarantee of how far a particular car will travel between charges. Actual range can vary with driving speed, temperature, terrain, climate-control use, load and other conditions; the cited Chevrolet materials do not provide an independent real-world range test.
The launch specifications identify a 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, one permanent-magnet drive motor, 210 horsepower and 169 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet also lists an 8-year/100,000-mile battery limited warranty. Consult the current warranty documents and dealer for the exact coverage terms and exclusions.

How quickly the Bolt charges
The Bolt supports up to 150 kW DC fast charging. Chevrolet estimates about 25 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% under public DC fast-charging conditions. That is an estimate, not a guaranteed stop duration: Chevrolet says charging time varies with starting charge, battery condition and temperature, charger output, and vehicle settings.
| Charging setup | Chevrolet’s stated capability or example | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 120V household outlet | Approximately 4 miles of range per hour | Chevrolet’s example; actual charging varies. |
| 240V, 7.7 kW dual-level cord | Approximately 27 miles of range per hour | Chevrolet’s example; actual charging varies. |
| 240V, up to 11.5 kW home charging | Approximately 40 miles of range per hour | Requires a dedicated 60A charging station, professionally installed and sold separately. |
| Public DC fast charging | Up to 150 kW; estimated 10% to 80% in 25 minutes | Maximum capability and time estimate; charging depends on the vehicle, charger and conditions. |
For home charging at the stated 11.5 kW rate, Chevrolet specifies a dedicated 60A station and professional installation. The station is sold separately. Whether an installation is feasible or needs electrical-service upgrades depends on the home’s electrical system and the installer’s assessment. Chevrolet’s charging examples and caveats appear in its launch announcement and specifications.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the 2027 Bolt have a Tesla-style NACS port?
Yes. Chevrolet says a native NACS charge port is standard. It says the Bolt can use compatible Tesla Superchargers that support NACS. A plug that fits is not, by itself, confirmation that a station is available to the car: check network access, station compatibility and route availability before relying on a particular charger.

Availability and what “limited run” means
Chevrolet announced the Bolt’s return in October 2025, added final specifications in January 2026 and reported it available at dealerships nationwide in April 2026. Chevrolet describes the car as a limited-run model. That national availability statement does not confirm current stock or delivery timing at a particular dealership; check local inventory directly.
Cabin technology and available driver assistance
Chevrolet’s launch announcement lists an 11.3-inch infotainment screen, an 11-inch driver-information screen, Google built-in with entertainment apps, multiple USB-C ports and available wireless phone charging. It also says the Bolt has more than 20 standard safety and driver-assistance features, with Super Cruise available. Vehicle-to-home bidirectional capability is also described as available. Equipment can vary by trim and configuration, so confirm the features on the specific vehicle being priced.

What to check before budgeting for one
- Get an itemized vehicle price. The cited Chevrolet pages show different price figures and do not establish the same destination-charge treatment for all of them.
- Check local inventory. Chevrolet reported nationwide dealer availability in April 2026, but that does not tell you what is in stock now near you.
- Plan for charging. Decide whether outlet charging, a 240V setup or a dedicated 60A home station fits your driving needs and home electrical service; the latter requires professional installation.
- Plan public stops around confirmed access. Verify compatible chargers and network access for your route rather than assuming every NACS-equipped station will work.
- Review warranty and configuration details. Verify the current warranty terms and the included or optional equipment on the vehicle you intend to buy.
