Those are historical new-vehicle MSRP figures—not today’s used-car prices. Engine output and towing capacity vary by configuration, so buyers comparing used examples should check the vehicle’s exact equipment and documentation.
2024 Explorer trims and original MSRP
Cars.com lists these starting MSRPs for the 2024 model year. The figures are historical comparison data, not dealer quotes or current valuations. RWD means rear-wheel drive; 4WD means four-wheel drive.

Engines, output and transmission
Ford Division’s 2024 Explorer Order Guide, dated October 16, 2023, associates the standard 2.3L EcoBoost inline-four with Base, XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, and Limited. ST, King Ranch, and Platinum are associated with the 3.0L EcoBoost V6. A 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 FFV was an optional fleet-only powertrain for Base. The guide lists a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford’s order guide says the EcoBoost horsepower and torque ratings are based on premium fuel under SAE J1349 and that results may vary. The listed figures distinguish the higher-output V6 from the 2.3L four-cylinder; they do not by themselves establish which engine is the better choice for a particular buyer. Check the engine and drivetrain on the specific vehicle rather than assuming every trim or used listing has the same configuration.

Towing capacity depends on the exact configuration
Ford’s 2024 towing guide lists different capacities according to engine, drivetrain, axle ratio, and equipment. It includes 3,000 lb for certain 2.3L configurations, 5,300 lb for qualifying 2.3L configurations, and up to 5,600 lb for specified 3.0L EcoBoost V6 configurations. The 5,600-lb figure is not a blanket rating for every 2024 Explorer.
Before towing, use the rating that applies to the exact vehicle, including its drivetrain, axle ratio, and tow equipment. Confirm the configuration in the vehicle’s documentation and follow the applicable limits; do not rely on trim name alone or on a maximum quoted without its qualifications.

Seating and owner reference material
Cars.com describes the 2024 Explorer as a seven-seat vehicle. The cited material does not establish trim-by-trim passenger or cargo dimensions, so it is not enough to compare cabin or storage space across trims.

Ford publishes a 2024 Explorer Quick Reference Guide, a vehicle-specific owner reference. For a particular used vehicle, a window sticker or Ford documentation tied to its VIN is a better way to verify original equipment than assuming features from the trim name alone. Availability of a printed manual from any retailer is not established here.
