In the U.S.-specification data Nissan published for the closely related 2021 model, the Premium makes 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque, while the NISMO makes 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft. Both use a hand-assembled 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive.
Pricing needs the same caution: Nissan’s located U.S. release gives 2021 MSRP figures, not a confirmed U.S. 2022 MSRP. Those figures are useful historical references, but they should not be presented as the price of every 2022 GT-R.
What is the 2022 Nissan GT-R?
The 2022 GT-R is the R35-generation Nissan supercar, sold in different grades and with market-specific equipment. Nissan’s U.S. material describes Premium and NISMO models, while Japan’s model-year announcement lists two limited T-spec grades: GT-R Premium Edition T-spec and GT-R Track Edition Engineered by NISMO T-spec.
That regional distinction matters when comparing advertisements or photographs. T-spec, NISMO and Premium cars can have different wheels, brakes, aerodynamic parts, suspension calibration and interiors.

Engine, horsepower and drivetrain
Premium powertrain
The U.S.-specification Premium uses Nissan’s hand-assembled VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6. Nissan rates it at 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque.
NISMO powertrain
The NISMO version is rated at 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. Nissan attributes the higher output to the NISMO specification; the published figures do not establish a universal 2022 output for every market.
Transmission and all-wheel drive
Both published U.S. grades use a paddle-shifted six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The transmission is paired with Nissan’s ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system and an independent rear-mounted transaxle. This layout separates the transaxle from the engine at the front and helps explain the GT-R’s distinctive mechanical packaging.

NISMO adds carbon-fiber bodywork, NISMO-tuned suspension, NISMO RAYS wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes and Recaro seats with synthetic-suede inserts. The brake hardware, aero treatment and seat design can make a NISMO look substantially different from a Premium even when the basic R35 shape is unchanged.
T-spec equipment and regional editions
Japan’s MY2022 T-spec announcement identifies bronze RAYS forged wheels, an exclusive interior and suspension changes intended to take advantage of reduced unsprung weight for the Premium Edition T-spec. The Track Edition Engineered by NISMO T-spec is a separate limited grade, not simply a renamed U.S. Premium.

Nissan Australia’s contemporaneous announcement said the 2022 T-spec and NISMO SV would arrive there from October. It described the NISMO special vehicle with large Brembo calipers and carbon-ceramic rotors, plus high-precision, weight-balanced piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, flywheel, crank pulley and valve springs intended to sharpen rev response and turbo spool.
How fast is the 2022 GT-R?
Nissan’s published specifications establish the engine outputs and drivetrain above, but the supplied official material does not provide a single verified 2022 0–60-mph time or top-speed figure. Acceleration depends on grade, market equipment, tires, launch procedure and test conditions, so an advertised number should be tied to a specific test and vehicle rather than applied to every 2022 GT-R.

What the U.S. figures actually establish
Nissan’s located U.S. pricing release is for the 2021 model year, not 2022. It lists:

- GT-R NISMO: $210,740 MSRP for the 2021 U.S. model year.
- Destination and handling: $1,695 in that release.
Those figures exclude applicable tax, title and license fees, and the dealer sets the actual transaction price. They are reference points only; they do not confirm a U.S. 2022 MSRP.
Why a single 2022 price is misleading
The 2022 GT-R was sold or announced with different grades in different markets, including Japan’s limited T-spec versions and Australia’s stated T-spec and NISMO SV arrival. Currency, taxes, destination charges, equipment and dealer premiums can all change the amount a buyer pays. Current used-market values also require a live listing or valuation source and cannot be inferred from Nissan’s 2021 MSRP.

- Confirm the country of sale and the exact grade: Premium, NISMO, T-spec or another regional designation.
- Verify the model year on the title, build plate and vehicle history rather than relying on a listing headline.
- Check whether the car has standard Brembo brakes or NISMO carbon-ceramic hardware, and price replacement parts accordingly.
- Identify the wheel and tire package, including RAYS forged wheels and Dunlop run-flat fitment.
- Compare the equipment list for carbon-fiber panels, NISMO suspension and Recaro seating.
- Separate MSRP from destination, taxes, registration, dealer markups and financing costs.
Where to see 2022 Nissan GT-R photos
Nissan’s official brochure imagery is useful for comparing a Premium and NISMO: it includes a Premium driving image, infotainment views, wheel and brake close-ups, an engine-bay badge, and NISMO cockpit, wheel, fender-vent and rear three-quarter views. Nissan’s GT-R gallery includes display photographs of the GT-R NISMO Special Edition. Car and Driver’s gallery covers the 2022 GT-R T-spec, its heritage paint colors and Track Edition/NISMO-derived equipment.
Best Value
- Brand new box
- Real rubber tires.
- Detailed interior, exterior, engine compartment.
- Has opening hood.
- Made of diecast metal with some plastic parts.
Use captions that identify market, trim and edition. A NISMO Special Edition photograph should not be labeled as a base Premium, and a Japan-market T-spec image should not be treated as proof of standard U.S. equipment.
2022 GT-R: the practical takeaway
The core R35 formula remains clear: a hand-assembled twin-turbo V6, dual-clutch transmission and ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive. The Premium’s published 565-hp rating suits buyers seeking the GT-R experience with substantial road-car equipment; the 600-hp NISMO adds carbon-ceramic brakes, NISMO chassis tuning, carbon fiber and more specialized seating. T-spec versions add their own limited-edition wheels, interior and suspension details in specific markets.
For price research, label Nissan’s $113,540 Premium and $210,740 NISMO figures as 2021 U.S. references and obtain a current, market-specific quote before treating any number as the cost of a 2022 car.
