A $70 ceiling can cover very different everyday-carry folders, but the model name alone does not tell you whether a particular version fits the budget. Steel, handle material, finish, and size can change both price and specifications. The available sources identify several candidates, not 20 verified models with current prices below $70, so this guide focuses on what can be established and how to assess a listing without treating an unverified price as a recommendation.
What the under-$70 category does—and does not—establish
Budget guides published in 2025 and 2026 surface several plausible EDC folders, but they do not establish a complete list of 20 exact variants currently selling below $70. Prices change, and a single model may be sold in configurations with different steels or handles. For that reason, the candidates below are starting points to verify, not a ranked or tested top-20 list.
For example, EDCDeal’s June 17, 2026 comparison reports model-level prices and specifications for several budget knives, while Damned Designs’ March 9, 2026 guide covers knives under $75—a higher ceiling than this article’s. Those dated roundups can help identify models, but they cannot guarantee a listing’s price today. EDCDeal’s under-$60 comparison; Damned Designs’ under-$75 guide.

- CIVIVI Elementum: Budget guides include the model, but configurations differ. Check the steel and handle listed for the specific version; the name alone does not establish its price or materials. EDCDeal’s comparison; KnifeCenter’s 2025 guide.
- CJRB Pyrite and Pyrite Light: Outdoor Life includes a sub-$50 category in its 2026 budget-to-premium guide, and other 2025–2026 guides mention the Pyrite family. Verify which model and configuration the listing describes; no current price for a specific version is established here. Outdoor Life’s EDC knife guide; Damned Designs’ guide.
- Kershaw Iridium and Mini Iridium: Kershaw’s 2025 catalog specifies the Iridium with a 3.4-inch blade, D2 steel, 6061-T6 aluminum handle, DuraLock, and 3.5-ounce weight. The Mini Iridium is listed with a 3-inch blade and 2.5-ounce weight. These manufacturer specifications do not establish current retail prices. Kershaw’s 2025 catalog.
- QSP Penguin: It appears in a 2026 guide with a ceiling of $75, which does not confirm that every Penguin version falls below $70. Check the precise variant and its current price. Damned Designs’ guide.
- Other names in EDCDeal’s comparison: Kizer Banish, CIVIVI Lumi, Elementum Lexan, Baklash, and Elementum Slip Joint are additional leads, not verified under-$70 recommendations. Confirm the exact version and listing details before relying on the guide’s reported specifications or prices. EDCDeal’s comparison.
How to compare two listings
Use the exact product page, not just a search result or a model-family name. A short checklist helps avoid buying a configuration that is too large, too heavy, or outside the budget.
- Confirm price and variant. Record the seller and date you checked the price, then match the listing’s steel, handle, finish, and lock to the version you intend to buy. Check whether shipping or other charges affect your actual budget.
- Check dimensions and carry details. Compare blade length, closed length, weight, pocket clip orientation, and how the handle is likely to sit in your pocket. The Iridium and Mini Iridium illustrate why the specific size matters: Kershaw lists different blade lengths and weights for the two.
- Match blade shape to ordinary tasks. Blade geometry affects how a knife works for the cutting jobs you expect to do. Choose for those tasks rather than assuming that a model’s popularity or steel name guarantees a good fit.
- Understand the steel in context. Steel is one part of a knife’s performance, not a complete promise about edge life or corrosion resistance. The candidate information here does not provide enough model-specific evidence to make comparative performance claims; check the exact configuration and manufacturer specifications.
- Choose an opening method and lock you can use comfortably. Buying guides identify lock type and opening method as key selection criteria. Compare how the particular knife opens and closes, and consider your hand use and preferences; do not treat a lock as fail-safe.

Check carry rules and handle the knife safely
Knife-carry laws depend on where you are and the circumstances of carry. The cited buying guide flags local law as a consideration but does not establish legal limits for particular places. Check current rules that apply to your location and situation before carrying a knife; do not assume a blade length or model is universally legal.
Use a folding knife as a tool, keep your fingers clear of the blade path when opening or closing it, and follow the manufacturer’s handling and care instructions. The available sources do not establish a particular sharpener or model-specific maintenance schedule, so avoid assuming that all steels need the same care.
