The Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra stand out in current resale-value rankings, but there is no single apples-to-apples top ten across all pickup classes. Kelley Blue Book (KBB) publishes projected values for new 2026-model-year trucks; iSeeCars compares current prices for used trucks about five years old with their new-vehicle MSRPs. The ten models below bring together both sources, with each figure labeled by its method.
How to read the resale-value figures
A retained-value percentage estimates how much of a truck’s original MSRP remains after five years. It is not a guarantee of what a particular owner will receive: condition, mileage, equipment, location and market timing affect an individual sale.
- KBB: Its 2026 Best Resale Value Awards give projected five-year residual values for 2026 model-year vehicles, expressed as a percentage of original MSRP. KBB says its estimates use the Official Residual Value Guide and analyst review of statistical-model output based on millions of transactions. Its press release describes the projected values as future auction prices for average-condition vehicles with 75,000 miles at the end of five years. KBB’s 2026 awards and methodology and its announcement provide details.
- iSeeCars: Its 2026 truck rankings compare new MSRP with the price of an equivalent five-year-old used vehicle. The rankings analyze more than 3 million vehicles, according to iSeeCars. This is a used-market comparison, not KBB’s forecast for new 2026 vehicles. See iSeeCars’ 2026 truck rankings.
Because the providers study different vehicle cohorts and use different methods, their percentages should not be ranked against one another as if they measured the same thing. Compare trucks within their class and note the source and method beside every figure.
Ten pickups with strong reported resale value
The trucks are grouped by size and duty class rather than presented as one overall ranking. iSeeCars’ figures below are from its 2026 category rankings. KBB figures are separate projections for 2026 model-year trucks. Values are percentages of MSRP retained at five years, as reported by each provider.

Which trucks lead in each class?
Small: Ford Maverick
The Maverick is the small pickup in this roundup. iSeeCars reports 68.2% five-year resale value in its 2026 small-truck ranking. KBB projects 54.1% for the 2026 model year and names it the compact-pickup category winner. These values answer different questions: observed used-market prices versus a forward-looking projection.

Midsize: Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger and GMC Canyon
The Tacoma is the clearest shared standout: iSeeCars reports 80.5% in its midsize ranking, while KBB projects 63.0% for the 2026 model year and places it first in its overall ten-winner list. The two figures are not contradictory; they come from different methods and vehicle cohorts.
iSeeCars reports 68.8% for the Ranger and 66.8% for the Canyon in the midsize class. KBB’s 2026 projection for the Ranger is 53.4%, tenth among its overall winners. The available KBB results do not state a corresponding Canyon percentage.

Full-size: Toyota Tundra
iSeeCars reports 80.3% for the Tundra in its 2026 full-size category. KBB projects 59.9% for the 2026 Tundra, ranking it second in KBB’s overall top ten. As with the Tacoma, the gap between the reported percentages reflects the distinct approaches rather than a direct disagreement about an identical group of trucks.
Heavy-duty: Ram 3500 and four other work-oriented pickups
iSeeCars’ heavy-duty category is led by the Ram 3500 at 79.8%, followed by the Ford F-350 Super Duty at 79.6%, Ford F-450 Super Duty at 77.0%, Ford F-250 Super Duty at 75.7% and Ram 2500 at 74.9%. These are class-specific comparisons, not evidence that a heavy-duty truck is a better financial choice than a smaller pickup. Capability, purchase price and the work a truck must do differ substantially by class.

What these rankings can—and cannot—tell a buyer
Resale rankings are useful when estimating depreciation, but they do not establish total cost of ownership or identify the right truck for a particular job. A high retained-value estimate alone says nothing conclusive about financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance or whether a truck’s capability justifies its cost.
- Choose the class for the payload, towing and everyday use you actually need before comparing resale percentages.
- Treat each percentage as a provider-specific estimate, not a promised future sale price.
- For an individual purchase or sale, compare vehicles with similar age, mileage, condition, trim and equipment in the relevant local market.
KBB’s 2026 overall top-ten vehicles each retain at least 55% of MSRP in its five-year projections, while KBB puts the average vehicle at about 45%. Those figures provide context for KBB’s awards as a whole, not a truck-only average or a direct comparison with iSeeCars’ used-market results.
