The best used luxury SUV depends on your budget, seating needs and tolerance for repair costs—not just the badge. For U.S. shoppers, these 10 models make a useful shortlist, but rankings do not establish the condition or value of any individual vehicle. Treat the model and year examples below as starting points, then compare specific vehicles, equipment and service histories before deciding.
Price-band and reliability rankings are different kinds of evidence. iSeeCars’ 2026 best-used luxury crossover rankings identify leaders at several price ceilings, while its separate reliability rankings select vehicles by relative reliability scores. Neither ranking guarantees a good buy or a particular asking price.
How to use this shortlist
Start with your budget and required seat count. iSeeCars’ 2026 best-used rankings name a different leader at each price ceiling: the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC under $15,000; 2020 INFINITI QX60 under $20,000; 2021 Audi Q5 under $25,000; 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC under $30,000 and $35,000; 2024 Acura RDX under $40,000; and 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC under $45,000. These are the publisher’s ranking results, not promises about what a vehicle costs in your area. See iSeeCars’ price-band rankings.
Its separate reliability ranking puts the 2020 Acura MDX first under $30,000 and the 2020 Lexus RX 350 first under $35,000. iSeeCars describes the reliability results as relative scores on a 1-to-10 scale; they are comparative estimates, not guarantees for an individual SUV. A composite ranking should not be mistaken for a reliability-only result. Check the exact year, trim, drivetrain and local asking price before comparing candidates. 10 used luxury SUVs to consider
1. Acura RDX: compact utility with a price-band ranking signal
The RDX is a compact luxury crossover and appears among iSeeCars’ current budget-based recommendations. Its 2024 model is the publisher’s best-used luxury crossover pick under $40,000 in the 2026 ranking. That is a useful lead for a shopper looking in that bracket, not evidence that every 2024 RDX is available at that price or is the right fit. Compare the actual vehicle’s mileage, equipment, service record and price with alternatives.
Rank #2

2. Acura MDX: a three-row choice with a reliability-ranking result
The midsize MDX is a three-row option for buyers who need more passenger capacity than a compact SUV provides. iSeeCars ranks the 2020 MDX first for used luxury midsize SUV reliability under $30,000 in its 2026 results. Its ranking does not establish the condition of a particular example. The IIHS also lists the 2022 MDX and 2024–25 MDX among Top Safety Pick+ award recipients for those model years; an award for those years should not be applied to earlier MDXs. Check the IIHS 2021 award list and its 2024 award list.
3. Audi Q5: compact size and a sub-$25,000 ranking pick
The Q5 is a compact luxury crossover. In iSeeCars’ 2026 price-band results, the 2021 Q5 is the best-used luxury crossover under $25,000. Use that as a search starting point rather than a target purchase price: local listings, mileage, trim and vehicle condition determine whether an individual Q5 makes financial sense.

4. Audi Q7: a midsize three-row alternative
The Q7 is a midsize, three-row option for shoppers who need additional seats. It appears in iSeeCars’ segment overview and reliability comparison, but the supplied ranking results do not establish a particular Q7 year as the best choice at a specific budget. Compare the configuration and condition of each candidate rather than assuming all Q7s offer the same usable seating or value.
5. BMW X3: compact crossover to compare on condition and cost
The X3 is a compact luxury crossover included in the current ranking and IIHS candidate pool. The available results do not identify a specific X3 model year as a price-band or reliability leader. Consider it alongside the RDX, Q5 and GLC, and let the individual vehicle’s history, inspection and asking price—not the nameplate alone—decide whether it belongs on your shortlist.

6. BMW X5: midsize, two-row layout
The X5 is a midsize SUV with two rows, so it may suit buyers who want a larger vehicle without a third row. It appears in the current rankings, and the 2025 X5 is included in IIHS’ 2024 Top Safety Pick+ list. That safety award is specific to the stated model year; do not extend it to other X5 years or equipment configurations without checking the applicable IIHS result.
7. INFINITI QX60: three rows and a lower-price-band ranking lead
The midsize QX60 is a three-row option. In iSeeCars’ 2026 best-used luxury crossover rankings, the 2020 QX60 leads under $20,000. Treat that as a ranking result, not a forecast of current local prices. Inspect the specific vehicle and compare its condition and service history with other three-row choices before buying.

8. Lexus RX 350: a reliability pick under $35,000
The midsize RX 350 appears among iSeeCars’ reliability leaders: its 2020 model ranks first under $35,000 in the publisher’s 2026 used luxury midsize SUV results. RX seating configurations vary, so verify the exact vehicle’s seats rather than inferring row count from the RX name. The reliability score is a relative ranking measure, not a prediction that a particular used example will be trouble-free.
9. Mercedes-Benz GLC: the standout across several price bands
The compact GLC appears repeatedly in iSeeCars’ 2026 price-band results: the 2016 model leads under $15,000, the 2021 model leads under $30,000 and $35,000, and the 2024 model leads under $45,000. Those rankings make it a natural model to compare across budgets, but the vehicles differ by year and price bracket. Do not treat the results as proof that every GLC within a cap is a bargain.
10. Volvo XC90: a three-row option with year-specific safety awards
The midsize XC90 is a three-row choice included in the current ranking and safety candidate pool. IIHS lists the 2021–22 XC90 among Top Safety Pick+ recipients in its 2021 awards and the 2024 XC90 in its 2024 awards. Those labels apply to the named model years, not every used XC90. Check the exact year and vehicle details against the relevant IIHS record before relying on an award.

A model-level ranking cannot tell you whether a particular SUV has open recalls, accident damage, deferred maintenance or a clean inspection. Do these checks on the candidate you are considering:

Search the vehicle using its VIN in NHTSA’s recall lookup. Resolve open recalls with the seller or manufacturer before purchase.
- Review the paperwork. Ask for available service records and compare the history with the seller’s description. A vehicle-history report can surface reported damage, mileage, maintenance, ownership and recall signals, but it can include only information available to that provider.
- Arrange an independent inspection. Have a qualified independent mechanic inspect the specific SUV before committing. A ranking cannot substitute for an assessment of its condition.
- Verify seating and safety equipment. Confirm the actual seat layout, trim and crash-prevention equipment. IIHS awards can depend on model year, headlights, optional front crash-prevention equipment or build date; a newer-year award does not automatically cover an older vehicle.
- Compare the complete deal. Weigh the asking price against mileage, condition, equipment and service history, and consider whether likely maintenance fits your budget. A lower purchase price alone does not establish lower ownership costs.
Safety awards require a year-and-equipment match
IIHS’ 2021 awards list Top Safety Pick+ for 2021–22 Volvo XC90 and 2021–22 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class when equipped with optional front crash prevention, as well as the 2022 Acura MDX. Its 2024 awards list Top Safety Pick+ for the 2024–25 Acura MDX, 2025 BMW X5, 2024–25 Genesis GV80 built after August 2023, 2024–25 Mercedes-Benz GLE with optional pedestrian front crash prevention, and 2024 Volvo XC90.
