There is no reliable, apples-to-apples public ranking of the ten wealthiest female hip-hop artists of the 2000s. The familiar net-worth figures online are secondary estimates, not audited disclosures, and the available sources do not establish comparable figures for a complete group of ten. A useful list can still identify artists with documented work during 2000–2009—but artistic influence and personal wealth are different questions.
Why a net-worth ranking is hard to verify
Net worth means assets minus liabilities. An entertainment website’s estimate is not the same as a disclosed balance sheet: the estimate may rely on incomplete public information, and the source material reviewed here does not provide a consistent method or independent corroboration across artists. It also does not consistently distinguish personal wealth from business assets.

For that reason, the artists below are presented as a period-focused selection, not a verified wealth leaderboard. No dollar amounts or ordinal wealth ranks are assigned. The available sources document career activity, but they do not support a defensible comparison of these artists’ finances.
Artists with documented work in the decade
These examples have source-backed milestones between 2000 and 2009. They illustrate the range of artists active in the period; they are not a complete or objectively ranked top ten.

Eve
Biography.com describes Eve’s early-2000s career and identifies “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” featuring Gwen Stefani, as a track from her 2001 album Scorpion (Biography.com). The site also gives a net-worth estimate, but it is not an audited financial disclosure and cannot establish her position against artists covered by other sources.
Lil’ Kim
Biography.com reports that Lil’ Kim’s third album, La Bella Mafia, debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in March 2003 (Biography.com). That chart milestone documents commercial activity in the decade; it says nothing by itself about her assets or liabilities.

Missy Elliott
Biography.com identifies The Cookbook as a 2005 album and describes Elliott’s work as a songwriter and producer (Biography.com). A Billboard year-end chart page from 2005 also lists Missy Elliott among female R&B/hip-hop artists, offering period-specific chart context rather than a wealth comparison (Billboard).
Remy Ma
Time’s 2017 retrospective says Remy Ma released her first studio album, There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story, in February 2006 (Time). The milestone supports her inclusion in a discussion of artists with decade-era releases, not a particular financial rank.

Trina
Celebrity Net Worth’s career page describes Trina and her 2005 album Glamorest Life (Celebrity Net Worth). It is a secondary source, so any wealth estimate on the page should be treated as an estimate rather than a verified personal balance sheet.
How to read net-worth estimates responsibly
When two sites publish figures for the same artist, the numbers are not automatically comparable. Before treating a figure as meaningful, check what the publisher says it measures and when it was published.
Rank #4
- Lil Wayne's classic 8x platinum album, Tha Carter III, is celebrating its 15th anniversary with this 2 LP standard black vinyl reissue
- Publication date: Wealth estimates can change over time; record the date rather than presenting a figure as timeless.
- Method and sourcing: Look for an explained method and identifiable supporting records. A bare estimate does not show how it was calculated.
- Scope: Check whether the estimate purports to cover personal wealth, business interests, or something else. The reviewed sources do not consistently resolve this distinction.
- Independent corroboration: Separate repetition across listicles from confirmation by independent, reliable evidence.
Even a carefully qualified estimate would answer a different question from “best.” Album releases, chart appearances and creative work can document activity or inform an artistic assessment; they do not measure an artist’s private finances.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who counts as an artist of the 2000s?
A period list depends on its cutoff. One reasonable approach is to include artists with documented releases or activity from 2000 through 2009. That can produce a different roster from a list based on when an artist first emerged, reached peak commercial visibility or released a breakthrough album.

Best Value
Nicki Minaj illustrates the boundary problem. AllMusic’s biography says she signed to Young Money in August 2009, while her debut studio album, Pink Friday, arrived in November 2010 (AllMusic). She had a connection to the decade at its end, but her album breakthrough belongs to the following decade. Whether she belongs on a “2000s” list depends on the stated selection rule.
Contemporary trade coverage can help establish who was active and visible at the time. A 2007 Billboard issue preserved by WorldRadioHistory reports on women in hip-hop and provides dated chart and sales context (WorldRadioHistory archive of Billboard). Such coverage is evidence of period context, not a current ranking or proof of personal wealth.
What the available evidence supports
The evidence supports discussing several artists’ documented releases and chart context during the decade. It does not support naming ten artists as a verified “best” group, ordering them by wealth, or assigning comparable net-worth figures. Readers asking who the richest female rappers of the 2000s were should treat published lists as estimates with differing dates and methods—not as a substantiated financial league table.
