That figure combines estimated on-court earnings with off-court income; it is not a salary-only list or a measure of take-home pay. Stephen Curry leads a separate ranking based on salary cap hits.

| 10 | Bradley Beal | $57.7 million | $50.2 million | $7.5 million |
Forbes’s ranking and methodology estimate $787 million in combined earnings for the ten players, including $293 million off the court. Forbes says James’s $128.7 million total is a record for its ranking.
Why the highest-paid player depends on the measure
“Highest-paid” can mean total estimated earnings or the salary figure used for a team’s cap accounting. Those measures produce different leaders: James is first in Forbes’s total-earnings ranking, while Curry is first in a preseason cap-hit list attributed to Spotrac.

How the NBA salary cap fits in
The NBA set the 2024–25 salary cap at $140.588 million and the tax level at $170.814 million in its June 30, 2024 announcement. These are team payroll thresholds, not individual player earnings; comparing either threshold directly with a player’s Forbes total answers a different question.
