Floyd Mayweather Jr. leads the current top 10 for recorded career fight purses, followed by Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao. This is a ranking of contracted purses recorded by Salary Sport—not a list of annual earnings, total income, or net worth. The ranking was accessed October 4, 2026.
How this boxer earnings ranking is measured
The order below follows Salary Sport’s current highest-paid boxers table, interpreted as a cumulative comparison of recorded career fight purses. Salary Sport says each figure is the contracted purse for a single fight: “Every figure on these pages is what a boxer was paid to fight: the contracted purse for one night. It is not what he earned that year and it is not his income.”
That distinction matters. The list excludes pay-per-view points, sponsorship, ticket money and later promoter settlements, so it cannot establish each boxer’s full career income or wealth. Salary Sport describes coverage of 45 boxers and 747 bouts; its top ten account for 81.3% of the total on its listed page. These are figures in that dataset, not an audited or exhaustive accounting of every fighter’s earnings. See its methodology explanation.

A career-purse ranking and an annual earnings ranking answer different questions. Annual lists specify a reporting window and may count endorsements or other off-ring income alongside fight compensation. They should not be combined with cumulative purse totals.
| Reporting basis | Reported figures | What the figures describe |
|---|---|---|
| Forbes 2026 earnings list; Canelo profile dated May 22, 2026 | Canelo Alvarez: $170 million total—$160 million on-field and $10 million off-field | Annual earnings estimate, split by on-field and off-field income. Forbes 2026 list and Canelo profile. |
| Sportico 2024 compensation figures, reproduced by Front Office Sports in a page updated May 30, 2025 | Oleksandr Usyk: $122 million; Canelo Alvarez: $73 million; Anthony Joshua: $60 million; Jake Paul: $48 million; Naoya Inoue: $42 million | Compensation for 2024. In this annual snapshot, Usyk is ahead of Canelo—the reverse of their order in Salary Sport’s cumulative-purse ranking. Front Office Sports’ Sportico-based list. |
| Forbes estimate for the 12 months ending May 1, 2024, as recorded by Guinness World Records | Canelo Alvarez: $85 million, with 88% attributed to prize money; Anthony Joshua: $83 million; Tyson Fury: $50 million | A rolling 12-month estimate, not the same period or measure as either the 2024 Sportico figures or the 2026 Forbes list. Guinness World Records’ record entry. |
The different placements are not inherently contradictory: the lists use different periods and measurement approaches. Forbes’ 2026 Canelo profile separates on-field and off-field earnings, while the Front Office Sports table identifies Sportico as its source for 2024 compensation. Treating those as directly interchangeable with accumulated contracted purses would obscure what each number measures.
