10 Best Cheap Website Builders (That Are Actually Good) – 2026

Compare 10 website builders by upfront price, renewal cost, and selling fees. Carrd suits one-page sites, Hostinger offers a low-cost conventional site with long prepayment, and Square Online provides a no-monthly-fee store option.

For a one-page site, Carrd is the lowest-cost pick; for a conventional site, Hostinger has a low advertised price if you can prepay four years; and for a small store, Square Online has a free monthly plan but charges payment-processing fees. Compare the amount due upfront, the renewal price, and selling fees before choosing.

Quick comparison

Builder Cheapest useful route Best for Main cost warning
Hostinger $2.99/month with 48-month prepayment Low-cost full websites $10.99/month renewal
Carrd $9/year One-page websites Not a conventional multi-page builder
WordPress.com $2.75/month billed every three years Blogs and publishing Lowest price requires long prepayment
Square Online $0/month plus payment fees Small stores Free plan still charges per sale
Wix $17/month billed annually General-purpose websites Ecommerce begins on Core
Webflow $15/month billed annually Designers Site and Workspace plans are separate
Squarespace Location- and billing-dependent Polished business websites Store and digital-product fees vary by plan
GoDaddy $9.99/month billed annually Fast small-business sites Promotional annual pricing and limited free tier
Shopify $29/month billed annually Serious ecommerce Usually excessive for a brochure site
Weebly $13/month billed annually Simple sites Less future-proof than leading alternatives

1. Hostinger Website Builder: best overall budget option

Hostinger lists its entry plan at $2.99 per month when prepaid for 48 months ($143.52 upfront), with a listed renewal price of $10.99 per month. The plan supports three websites and includes 20 GB SSD storage, weekly backups, a CDN, integrated ecommerce, AI tools, a domain free for one year, and two mailboxes per website free for one year. These prices and inclusions are from Hostinger’s Website Builder page.

The Unlimited plan costs $3.79 per month on the same 48-month term ($181.92 upfront) and renews at $16.99 per month. It raises storage to 50 GB NVMe, adds unlimited websites and daily backups, and includes unlimited mailboxes for the first year, according to Hostinger.

Hostinger suits a small business, portfolio, blog, or basic store when keeping hosting and the builder under one bill matters. The advertised rates require a commitment; moving from another builder may mean rebuilding rather than importing. Its drag-and-drop editor, AI tools, and “vibe coding” workflow are different ways to create a site, not interchangeable versions of the same editor. Hostinger describes its tools; TechRadar’s review notes the rebuilding involved in a Wix-to-Hostinger move.

  • Ergonomic Posture Correction: Designed to elevate your laptop to the perfect eye level, this adjustable laptop stand significantly reduces neck, shoulder, and spinal fatigue. Transform your desk into a healthier workstation, ideal for long hours of typing, Zoom meetings, or gaming.
  • Unshakable Dual-Rod Stability: Unlike single-hinge models, our stand features a highly engineered dual-support rod mechanism. It perfectly distributes weight to ensure a 100% wobble-free typing experience, safely supporting heavy-duty devices up to 22 lbs (10kg).
  • Advanced Thermal Cooling Panel: Maximize your device's performance. The unique geometric heat-vent design on the upper panel provides superior airflow compared to standard solid stands. This continuous heat dissipation prevents your laptop from thermal throttling and hardware damage during intensive tasks.
  • Universal 10-16” Compatibility: A versatile computer riser that seamlessly fits all 10 to 16-inch laptops. Broadly compatible with MacBook Pro/Air, Dell XPS, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Chromebook, and large gaming laptops. The anti-slip silicone pads firmly grip your device and protect it from scratches.
  • Foldable, Portable & Ready to Go: Maximize your productivity anywhere. The dual-foldable design allows the stand to collapse completely flat in seconds. Easily slip it into your backpack or briefcase, making it the ultimate portable office accessory for business trips, cafes, or hybrid work setups.

Best value when: you can afford the four-year upfront payment and expect to keep the site for several years.

2. Carrd: best for one-page sites

Carrd is a low-cost option for a polished landing page, profile, event page, resume, waitlist, or link-in-bio site. Its paid plans cost $9 per year for Pro Lite, $19 per year for Pro Standard, and $49 per year for Pro Plus, according to Carrd’s plan documentation.

Pro Standard is often the practical choice for a business. It supports up to 10 sites, custom domains, SSL through Let’s Encrypt, forms, and removal of Carrd branding. Pro Lite does not include custom domains or the business-oriented forms and widgets that can help with lead generation; see Carrd’s plan comparison.

The limitation is fundamental rather than financial: Carrd is designed primarily for one-page websites. It is not a full replacement for a multi-page CMS, blog, or large online store. You also pay separately for a custom domain.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best value when: one well-designed page can do the job.

3. WordPress.com: best cheap option for blogging

WordPress.com paid plans start at $2.75 per month when billed every three years, or $4 per month when billed annually. It also offers a free plan with no credit card requirement, according to WordPress.com’s U.S. pricing page.

The free plan uses a WordPress.com subdomain, provides 1 GB of storage, and does not include plugin installation or ad-free visitor browsing. Paid plans include managed hosting, SSL, CDN hosting, DDoS and brute-force protection, managed WordPress updates, and plugin installation. Annual and multi-year paid plans include a custom domain free for the first year; monthly billing does not, according to WordPress.com.

This can suit a blog, newsletter, publication, or content-heavy site. Plugins offer room to add features later, although WordPress.com is managed hosting and should not be confused with downloading WordPress.org and arranging separate hosting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The lowest advertised price requires a three-year payment term. Check the renewal price before committing, especially if you are testing an idea.

4. Square Online: best free option for a small store

Square Online’s Free plan costs $0 per month and includes a site builder, SEO tools, Square POS synchronization, pickup, local delivery, shipping, customer accounts, social selling, and multiple payment methods. Online card payments are listed at 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction. Square’s U.S. plan page lists the pricing and features.

The Plus plan costs $29 per month when billed annually and adds expanded customization, custom fonts, custom widgets, subscriptions, removal of Square branding, and a standard-priced domain free for one year. Premium costs $79 per month billed annually, according to Square.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For example, a $30 order would incur about $1.17 in processing at the listed rate, before product costs, shipping, or taxes. The free plan also offers less visual customization than Plus.

Square Online is especially logical if you already use Square POS or payments. It is less suitable for a content-heavy blog or a highly customized marketing website.

Best value when: you need a small online shop and would rather pay transaction fees than a monthly subscription.

5. Wix: best cheap general-purpose builder

Wix’s U.S. annual-billing prices are $17 per month for Light, $29 for Core, $39 for Business, and $159 for Business Elite. A free plan is available, but it uses a Wixsite.com address and displays Wix branding, according to Wix’s free-plan overview.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Light includes 2 GB of storage and removes Wix branding. Core increases storage to 50 GB and adds payment acceptance, basic ecommerce, scheduling, and up to five collaborators. Business provides 100 GB, standard ecommerce, and up to 10 collaborators; see Wix’s plan details.

Light is not an online-store plan: Core is the relevant entry tier if you need to accept payments or sell products. Wix apps can add separate monthly charges, and eligible annual plans include a domain free for one year before renewal at the regular rate. Wix lists a .com at $7.90 initially and $21.35 on renewal, although extension prices vary; see Wix’s domain page and its website cost guide.

Webflow suits someone who understands responsive layout and wants detailed control without maintaining WordPress. It is not the cheapest route for someone who simply wants to assemble a few standard business pages.

A Site plan is separate from a Workspace plan, and each site published to its own custom domain needs its own Site plan, according to Webflow’s Site plan guidance. Webflow changed its plans beginning May 13, 2026, combining former CMS and Business site plans into Premium. Existing sites transition on different dates; consult Webflow’s plan-change notice.

Best value when: you are a designer building a mostly static marketing site and do not need a large team or multiple CMS-heavy projects.

7. Squarespace: best for polished design

Squarespace’s current website plans are Basic, Core, Plus, and Advanced. Exact prices vary by location and billing cycle; annual billing lowers the average monthly cost and includes a custom domain free for one year, according to Squarespace’s FAQ.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

All four plans include unlimited bandwidth, SSL, mobile-optimized sites, and 24/7 support. Basic charges a 2% online-store transaction fee, while Core, Plus, and Advanced list a 0% online-store transaction fee. Digital-product fees are 7%, 5%, 1%, and 0%, respectively, from Basic through Advanced; see Squarespace’s plan comparison.

Squarespace Payments card-processing fees are separate from platform transaction fees. The help center lists domestic card rates that vary by plan, including 2.9% plus 30 cents on lower tiers. A free domain lasts only for the initial year; see Squarespace’s plan guidance.

Squarespace can suit photographers, restaurants, creative businesses, and service providers where presentation matters. It is less attractive when the priority is the absolute lowest subscription cost or extensive technical customization.

9. Shopify: best cheap builder for serious ecommerce

Shopify Payments online card rates start at 2.9% plus 30 cents. If you use another payment provider, Shopify lists a 2% third-party transaction fee on Basic; see Shopify’s plan comparison.

Shopify is not a cheap choice for a simple brochure site. It can make sense when you need product catalogs, inventory, order management, multichannel selling, or a store that could scale. Basic does not include additional staff accounts, although you can invite third-party collaborators. Grow includes up to five staff accounts and Advanced up to 15. POS Pro is an additional $89 per month per location.

Best value when: ecommerce is the business, rather than an occasional feature on a service website.

10. Weebly: best inexpensive simple editor, with a caution

Weebly remains publicly available with active pricing. Its plans are Free, Personal, Professional, and Performance. Personal costs $13 per month billed annually or $16 monthly; Professional costs $15 annually billed or $20 monthly; Performance costs $32 annually billed or $36 monthly, according to Weebly’s pricing page.

All plans include free SSL. Paid plans add features such as custom domains, removal of Square ads, advanced site statistics, password protection, and expanded ecommerce tools. The editor is straightforward and can work for a basic portfolio, small business site, or uncomplicated store.

Weebly’s drawback is not that it has disappeared—it has not—but that its development direction and feature ceiling make it a weaker long-term choice for an ambitious site. It also sits inside the Square ecosystem, so Weebly’s legacy builder pricing can look inconsistent beside Square Online’s newer Free, Plus, and Premium store plans.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best value when: you want a simple editor, understand its limits, and do not expect the site to become a complex publishing or ecommerce platform.

How to choose the cheapest builder without overpaying

  1. Decide whether you need a store. A brochure site can cost under $20 per month, but a store must account for card processing, platform transaction fees, inventory, shipping, and possibly paid apps.
  2. Calculate the first-year bill. Include the upfront subscription, domain registration, email, payment processing, and necessary add-ons. A free domain usually lasts one year.
  3. Calculate the renewal bill. Write down the price after the promotion ends. Hostinger’s $2.99 offer renews at $10.99 per month; domain renewals can also jump after year one.
  4. Check the payment term. The lowest advertised prices above require 12, 36, or 48 months paid in advance. That is a cash-flow issue even when the long-run average is reasonable.
  5. Check migration options. A cheap builder is more expensive if leaving it requires rebuilding every page. This matters particularly when choosing a closed, all-in-one platform.
  6. Separate the website from optional extras. Apps, additional sites, staff accounts, premium templates, email marketing, POS tools, and advanced bookings may all sit outside the advertised plan.

Which cheap website builder is right for you?

  • Choose Hostinger for the lowest-cost conventional website if you can prepay four years.
  • Choose Carrd for a one-page landing page, profile, or waitlist.
  • Choose WordPress.com for a blog or publication that may need plugins later.
  • Choose Square Online for a small store with modest sales volume and no monthly platform fee.
  • Choose Wix for a flexible general-purpose builder with beginner-friendly editing.
  • Choose Webflow when you have design skills and need precise layout control.
  • Choose Squarespace when templates and visual polish are central to the business.
  • Choose GoDaddy when speed and basic marketing tools matter more than customization.
  • Choose Shopify when you need a serious product-selling operation.
  • Choose Weebly for a simple site that does not need an ambitious roadmap.

FAQ

What is the cheapest website builder with a custom domain?

Carrd Pro Standard costs $19 per year and supports custom domains, making it the cheapest useful option for a one-page site. For a conventional multi-page website, Hostinger’s displayed $2.99 monthly rate is cheaper on average but requires $143.52 upfront for 48 months. See Carrd’s plans and Hostinger’s offer.

Are free website builders really free?

Usually, but free plans can come with a provider subdomain, platform branding, limited storage, restricted ecommerce features, or payment-processing fees. A free plan can be suitable for testing, but may not look professional or be economical for a busy store.

What is the cheapest website builder for selling products?

Square Online has a $0 monthly Free plan with online card processing listed at 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction. Shopify Basic, at $29 per month billed annually, is generally a better fit when you need robust inventory, order management, and growth features. See Square’s plans and Shopify’s pricing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Should I pay for several years of website hosting upfront?

Only if you have checked the renewal price and are confident you will keep the site. Prepayment lowers the average monthly rate but creates a larger immediate bill and makes switching harder. Compare the first-year cash cost, renewal cost, and cost of moving before committing.

The Bottom Line

For most budget-conscious buyers, Hostinger is the strongest all-in-one bargain if a four-year prepayment is acceptable. Carrd is the clear low-cost winner for a single page, while WordPress.com is the better investment for a content-led site. For selling, Square Online minimizes fixed costs and Shopify offers stronger long-term store infrastructure.

Before checking out, compare three numbers: the amount charged today, the renewal price, and fees triggered by your actual use. That is the difference between a genuinely cheap website and a cheap-looking headline price.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
