1 Evidence-Based Reason to Consider Carnival Stock (CCL) in October 2026

Carnival’s record Q3 earnings and forward bookings offer one bullish reason to consider CCL in October 2026—but strong operations alone do not establish that the stock is attractively valued.

Carnival’s strongest case for considering CCL in October 2026 is that sustained booking demand is translating into record results: the company reported record third-quarter revenue and net income, record customer deposits, and record booked occupancy and pricing for 2027. That is an operating-growth argument—not proof that the shares are cheap or likely to rise. Whether CCL is a buy also depends on its market price, debt, and exposure to fuel, costs, and currency.

The bullish reason: bookings are supporting record results

In its earnings release dated September 29, 2026, Carnival reported third-quarter net income of $1.9 billion and adjusted net income of $2.0 billion, both all-time highs. Revenue and net yields in constant currency also reached all-time highs. Net yields rose 2.4% year over year in constant currency, a measure that helps show how much revenue Carnival generated from its available capacity after accounting for currency effects. The demand indicators offer a reason to think the results are not only a one-quarter snapshot. Carnival reported $7.6 billion in customer deposits at quarter-end, $0.5 billion more than the prior-year record, while capacity growth over the next twelve months was flat. Management said booked occupancy and pricing for 2027 were at record levels, and that 2028 was beginning with higher occupancy and prices than a year earlier. These are company-reported figures and management’s assessment of its booking curve, not a guarantee of future revenue.

CEO Josh Weinstein said the extended record booking curve reinforced management’s confidence in demand and the business’s earnings power. That is the company’s outlook, rather than independent confirmation that demand will persist.

What could weaken the case

Fuel, currency, and operating costs

Record earnings do not mean costs are under control. Carnival said fuel prices and currency together had an unfavorable $131 million impact on Q3 adjusted EPS, which was $1.43—level with the prior year. Total cruise costs per available lower berth day increased 4.2% year over year, driven by higher fuel prices. Adjusted costs excluding fuel per available lower berth day in constant currency rose 1.8%. If fuel or other operating costs keep climbing, they can absorb some of the benefit from higher pricing and occupancy. Carnival’s Q3 2026 earnings release

Liquidity, debt, and the working-capital deficit

As of August 31, 2026, Carnival reported $5.7 billion in liquidity: $1.2 billion of cash and $4.5 billion available under its revolving credit facility. It also reported a $9.1 billion working-capital deficit. The company says that deficit largely reflects its business model: it collects passenger deposits and advance onboard purchases before sailings, recording them as liabilities until it provides the related services and recognizes revenue. That explanation is important context, but it does not make the deficit irrelevant to a balance-sheet assessment. Carnival’s Q3 2026 Form 10-Q

Cash generation and capital allocation add context. Carnival generated $5.3 billion in operating cash flow in the nine months ended August 31, 2026. Over that period, it repaid $2.2 billion of long-term debt, paid $618 million in dividends, and repurchased $929 million of shares. These figures show substantial cash flow alongside continued debt repayment and shareholder returns; they do not by themselves establish that the remaining debt is low or that the stock is attractively priced. What Carnival’s 2026 outlook adds

Carnival said operational improvements lifted its expected adjusted net income by more than $150 million compared with its June guidance, offsetting an approximately $150 million impact from higher fuel prices. It expected 2026 net yields in constant currency to rise approximately 2.3% compared with record 2025 levels. This is company guidance, not a guaranteed result; it can change as bookings, costs, fuel prices, and currency move. Carnival’s Q3 2026 earnings release

Does this make CCL a buy in October 2026?

The evidence supports a specific bullish operating thesis: Carnival says demand is strong, pricing and occupancy are booked at record levels into 2027, and that strength coincides with record quarterly revenue and earnings. The evidence does not answer the separate valuation question. The cited company filings do not establish whether CCL is cheap at its contemporaneous share price, what its fair value is, or what return an investor should expect. Before deciding, compare the share price with an independently assessed valuation and consider how much fuel, currency, cost, and debt risk you are willing to accept.

For a fuller account of company-specific risks, Carnival’s Q3 2026 filing points readers to its fiscal 2025 Form 10-K and says the risk factors had not materially changed since that filing. Carnival’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K
