9 अगस्त 2026 तक उपलब्ध जानकारी के अनुसार TallyPrime का नवीनतम सत्यापित release 7.1 है, जिसे 20 मई 2026 को जारी किया गया था। TallyPrime को केवल accounting software कहना अधूरा होगा—यह invoicing, inventory, taxation, payroll, banking, reporting और data-control workflows वाला business software है। TallyPrime की official documentation में इसके प्रमुख modules और workflows दिए गए हैं।
सीधा उत्तर: Tally वह software है जिसमें business अपने financial transactions और उनसे जुड़ी reports को व्यवस्थित करता है। यह GST calculation और filing workflows में मदद करता है, लेकिन सही GSTIN, HSN/SAC, tax rate, ledger grouping और data entry की जिम्मेदारी user या business की ही रहती है।
टैली क्या है?
Accounting का अर्थ है किसी business के financial transactions को record, classify और report करना। पहले यही काम registers और spreadsheets में किया जाता था; accounting software इस प्रक्रिया को अधिक structured और तेज बनाता है।

Tally, Tally Solutions Pvt. Ltd. का software brand है। इसका वर्तमान business product TallyPrime है। इसमें आप किसी business की company बनाकर ledgers, stock items, customers, suppliers, tax details और transactions दर्ज करते हैं। इन entries के आधार पर TallyPrime Day Book, Ledger, Trial Balance, Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet, Stock Summary, Outstanding और GST reports तैयार करता है।
उदाहरण के लिए, जब आप किसी customer को माल बेचते हैं, तो एक sales voucher से केवल invoice नहीं बनता। सही configuration होने पर customer का outstanding, stock quantity, sales figure, GST amount और Profit and Loss report भी प्रभावित होती है। इसी वजह से Tally में master setup और data entry की accuracy बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है।
Accounting software और business-management software में अंतर
Accounting software मुख्य रूप से income, expenses, assets, liabilities और financial statements पर केंद्रित होता है। TallyPrime में इनके साथ inventory, billing, GST, banking, payroll, orders, cost centres और remote access जैसी सुविधाएँ भी हैं। इसलिए इसे छोटे और मध्यम businesses के लिए accounting-led business-management software कहना अधिक सही है।

टैली का full form क्या है?
Tally Solutions की official history में Tally का कोई आधिकारिक full form नहीं दिया गया है। Internet पर Transactions Allowed in a Linear Line Yards को Tally का full form बताया जाता है, लेकिन इसे official expansion मानने का प्रमाण Tally की current history या product documentation में नहीं मिलता।
इसलिए सही उत्तर यह है: Tally का कोई officially verified full form उपलब्ध नहीं है। उक्त phrase को केवल लोकप्रिय, लेकिन असत्यापित internet expansion के रूप में देखा जाना चाहिए। कुछ third-party हिंदी articles में इसे तथ्य की तरह लिखा गया है, पर ऐसी coverage को official product information का विकल्प नहीं मानना चाहिए।
टैली का संक्षिप्त इतिहास: Peutronics से TallyPrime तक
Tally का इतिहास भारत में business accounting को computer पर सरल बनाने के प्रयास से जुड़ा है। पूरी version history काफी लंबी है, इसलिए शुरुआती पाठक के लिए यह verified timeline पर्याप्त है:
- 1986: Bharat Goenka ने अपने पिता Shyam Sundar Goenka के business को सरल बनाने के लिए शुरुआती accounting application बनाया। इसका शुरुआती नाम Peutronics Financial Accountant था।
- 1991: Tally Solutions की official history के अनुसार company का incorporation हुआ।
- 2009: Tally.ERP 9 launch हुआ।
- 2017: GST व्यवस्था के अनुरूप software और workflows में बड़ा बदलाव आया।
- 2020: TallyPrime को next-generation business-management software के रूप में launch किया गया।
- 20 मई 2026: TallyPrime Release 7.1 जारी हुआ। इसके release notes में invoice templates, IMS reconciliation, Schedule III statements, ICICI payments, OAuth email और updated e-TDS/e-TCS features जैसे बदलाव दिए गए हैं। Release 7.1 notes देखें।
पुराने लेखों में Tally 4.5, 5.4, 6.3, 7.2, 8.1, Tally 9 और Tally.ERP 9 के बारे में जानकारी मिलती है। ये historical versions हैं। Current download page और release documentation के संदर्भ में Tally.ERP 9 को आज का latest product नहीं कहना चाहिए। पुराने Tally.ERP 9 data को TallyPrime में migrate करने की सुविधाएँ उपलब्ध हैं, लेकिन migration से पहले backup और compatibility check जरूरी है।
टैली के प्रकार: product, edition और voucher को अलग-अलग समझें
‘Tally के प्रकार’ query में अक्सर तीन अलग चीजों को मिला दिया जाता है—software products, license editions और voucher types। इन्हें अलग समझना खरीद और सीखने, दोनों के लिए जरूरी है।

TallyPrime
यह सामान्य businesses, accountants, retailers, wholesalers, service providers और MSMEs के लिए Tally का मुख्य product है। इसमें accounting, invoicing, inventory, GST, payroll, banking, reports और connected services के workflows मिलते हैं। अधिकांश नए users को इसी product से शुरुआत करनी चाहिए।
TallyPrime Edit Log
TallyPrime Edit Log में सामान्य TallyPrime जैसी business functionality रहती है, लेकिन Edit Log को disable नहीं किया जा सकता। जिन businesses को लगातार activity trail या statutory audit-trail requirement के कारण हर महत्वपूर्ण modification का record रखना है, वे इस edition पर विचार कर सकते हैं।
यह कहना सही नहीं है कि हर business के लिए Edit Log edition कानूनी रूप से अनिवार्य है। इसकी आवश्यकता business structure, applicable regulations और auditor या professional adviser की सलाह पर निर्भर कर सकती है। Edit Log की official जानकारी देखें।
TallyPrime Server
TallyPrime Server कोई beginner के लिए अलग basic accounting version नहीं है। यह ऐसे multi-user और high-concurrency environments के लिए है जहाँ कई users एक ही company data पर एक साथ काम करते हैं। Server-side architecture performance, monitoring और administrative control में मदद कर सकता है। छोटे single-user business के लिए इसकी complexity और लागत सामान्यतः आवश्यक नहीं होती।

TallyPrime Developer और TDL
TDL यानी Tally Definition Language का उपयोग custom reports, fields, workflows, integrations और business-specific solutions बनाने के लिए किया जाता है। TallyPrime Developer programmers और TDL developers के लिए है; यह सामान्य accountant के लिए basic Tally edition नहीं है।
यदि किसी business को barcode, custom invoice, industry-specific report या external application integration चाहिए, तो TDL developer या implementation partner की जरूरत पड़ सकती है। TallyPrime Developer की जानकारी देखें।
Tally.ERP 9
Tally.ERP 9 पिछली पीढ़ी का product है। बहुत से offices में इसका पुराना data अभी भी मिल सकता है, लेकिन इसे current latest Tally product नहीं समझना चाहिए। नए setup के लिए TallyPrime current product है। पुराने data को migrate करने से पहले source company का backup बनाना चाहिए।

कुछ हिंदी websites ‘Tally ME’ को Tally का अलग प्रकार बताती हैं। Current Tally Solutions product और licensing documentation में इसे standard current product category के रूप में verify नहीं किया जा सका है। इसलिए इसे official Tally type की तरह लिखना या खरीद का आधार बनाना उचित नहीं है।
2. License editions: Silver, Gold और rental

Gold को ‘advanced accounting version’ कहना भ्रामक है। Silver और Gold में accounting, GST या inventory का मूल उद्देश्य अलग नहीं होता; Gold का प्रमुख अंतर concurrent multi-user और LAN usage है। यदि users अलग-अलग शहरों से काम करेंगे, तो केवल Gold खरीदना पर्याप्त नहीं हो सकता—Remote Access, Cloud Access या अन्य architecture की जरूरत पड़ सकती है। Licensing best practices देखें।

Official India pricing page पर उपलब्ध जानकारी के अनुसार निम्न prices सूचीबद्ध हैं। ये prices offers, geography, tax और future price updates के कारण बदल सकती हैं:

3. Voucher types
Voucher किसी transaction को TallyPrime में दर्ज करने का format है। यह product type या license edition नहीं है। TallyPrime में predefined voucher types उपलब्ध हैं और business आवश्यकता के अनुसार custom voucher types भी बनाए जा सकते हैं। Official documentation में accounting, inventory, order और payroll workflows के लिए 24 predefined voucher types का उल्लेख है।

TallyPrime की प्रमुख विशेषताएँ
1. Accounting और bookkeeping
TallyPrime में business के day-to-day financial transactions record किए जा सकते हैं:
- Ledgers और groups बनाना

- Bill-wise receivables और payables

Ledger को transaction screen से on-the-fly create किया जा सकता है। Menu path है Alt+G > Create Master > Ledger; संबंधित screen पर Alt+C से भी नया master बनाया जा सकता है। Ledger creation की official guide देखें।
2. Billing और invoicing
TallyPrime goods और services दोनों के लिए invoice workflow support करता है। Business जरूरत के अनुसार cash या credit sales, GST invoice, POS invoice, custom invoice format, logo, watermark, terms and conditions और print settings configure की जा सकती हैं। Invoice को print करने, email करने या WhatsApp से share करने के विकल्प भी उपलब्ध हो सकते हैं।
Release 7.1 में predefined invoice print templates और logo, watermark, header/footer images, fonts, colours तथा terms and conditions को personalize करने के options जोड़े गए। यह retailers, wholesalers और service providers के लिए invoice को business identity के अनुरूप बनाने में उपयोगी है।
3. Inventory management
Inventory module stock की quantity, movement और valuation को track करने में मदद करता है। इसमें निम्न workflows शामिल हो सकते हैं:
- Stock groups और stock categories
- Stock items और units of measurement
- Multiple godowns या warehouses
- Batch-wise stock
- Stock transfer और adjustment
- Stock Summary और Stock Position
- Purchase और Sales Orders
- Consignment और Job Work
- Price lists
- Reorder और stock monitoring workflows
Inventory report तभी उपयोगी होगी जब item names, units, opening stock, godowns और purchase/sales entries सही हों। यदि एक ही product अलग-अलग नामों से दर्ज किया गया या opening stock गलत भरा गया, तो software report बनाएगा, लेकिन report वास्तविक stock को सही नहीं दिखाएगी।

4. GST, e-Invoice और e-Way Bill
भारत में TallyPrime का एक बड़ा उपयोग GST-related accounting और reporting है। इसमें GST registration details, GSTIN/UIN, registration type, HSN/SAC, tax rates, CGST, SGST/UTGST और IGST से जुड़े workflows configure किए जा सकते हैं। GST reports, e-Invoice और e-Way Bill से जुड़ी connected activities भी supported setup के अनुसार उपलब्ध हो सकती हैं।
Basic GST setup का रास्ता:
- Company खोलें।
F11दबाएँ।- Enable Goods and Services Tax (GST) को Yes करें।
- State, GSTIN/UIN और registration type दर्ज करें।
- Party ledgers, sales और purchase ledgers, stock items तथा HSN/SAC और GST rates configure करें।
- e-Invoice, e-Way Bill या portal-connected activity लागू हो तो credentials और authentication setup पूरा करें।
Company में GST setup और GST rate तथा HSN/SAC configuration की official guides देखें।
महत्वपूर्ण GST सावधानी: Tally गलत GSTIN, गलत tax rate, गलत HSN/SAC, गलत place of supply या गलत ledger grouping को अपने-आप ठीक नहीं करता। Software calculation और reports में सहायता करता है; final return या invoice data submit करने से पहले qualified accountant या tax professional से review कराना उचित है। Tax rules और portal processes बदल सकते हैं।
5. Banking और bank reconciliation
TallyPrime में bank ledger, bank reconciliation, bank statement import और statement से voucher creation जैसे workflows मिलते हैं। Connected Banking के माध्यम से supported banks और services के अनुसार payment status, reconciliation और online payment-related activities manage की जा सकती हैं।

6. Payroll और employee records
Payroll module में employee masters, attendance, salary processing, pay slips और payroll reports manage किए जा सकते हैं। Applicable setup के अनुसार ESI, PF और अन्य statutory deductions या contributions भी configure किए जा सकते हैं।
Payroll केवल salary amount डालने का काम नहीं है। Employee master, pay heads, attendance, salary structure और statutory settings सही नहीं होंगे तो payslip और payroll reports भी गलत हो सकती हैं।
7. Reports और business analysis
TallyPrime का practical value केवल transaction entry में नहीं, बल्कि business की financial स्थिति समझने में है। उपयोगी reports में शामिल हैं:
- Sales और purchase analysis
- Cash flow
- Receivables और payables
- Stock Summary
- Profit and Loss Account
- Balance Sheet
- Trial Balance
- Cost centre reports
- GST reports
- Bank reconciliation reports
- Dashboard और saved views
इन reports में filters, drill-down और transaction-level details देखने की सुविधा accounting errors खोजने में मदद करती है। उदाहरण के लिए, Balance Sheet में किसी figure पर drill-down करके उससे जुड़े ledgers और vouchers तक पहुँचा जा सकता है।
8. Data security, access control और Edit Log
TallyPrime में user access control, role-based permissions, password protection, TallyVault encryption, Edit Log, backup, restore, data repair और digital signatures जैसी control सुविधाएँ हैं। TallyVault और data management documentation देखें।
TallyVault company data और company name को encrypt करने में मदद कर सकता है, लेकिन इसे complete security guarantee नहीं समझना चाहिए। Strong passwords, सीमित user permissions, updated operating system, malware protection और regular off-site backups भी जरूरी हैं।
यदि Edit Log-enabled data को repair करना पड़े, तो repair प्रक्रिया Edit Log information को प्रभावित या हटा सकती है। इसलिए repair से पहले backup लें, auditor या administrator को involve करें और audit implications समझें।
9. Remote Access, Browser Reports और Cloud Access
TallyPrime को बिना qualification के पूरी तरह cloud-based software कहना गलत है। इसका core application Windows desktop पर local या server setup में चल सकता है, जबकि remote और cloud usage के लिए अलग सुविधाएँ उपलब्ध हैं:

Connected Services और Cloud Access, Remote Access और Browser Reports के अंतर को समझना जरूरी है। सामान्य local accounting और offline voucher entry internet के बिना जारी रह सकती है, लेकिन GST filing, e-Invoice, e-Way Bill, connected banking, remote access और अन्य online services के लिए internet आवश्यक हो सकता है।

व्यवसायों में Tally का उपयोग कहाँ होता है?
Retail और किराना दुकान
Retailer sales invoices, purchase, stock quantity, customer credit, supplier payments और daily cash position track कर सकता है। POS, barcode या industry-specific requirements के लिए अतिरिक्त setup या add-on की जरूरत पड़ सकती है।
Wholesaler और distributor
Wholesaler party-wise outstanding, credit limits, purchase orders, sales orders, godown-wise stock, price lists और receivables reports का उपयोग कर सकता है। Distributor के लिए सही batch, location और party masters विशेष रूप से महत्वपूर्ण हैं।

Manufacturing unit inventory movement, material consumption, job work, stock journals और costing-related workflows के लिए Tally का उपयोग कर सकती है। बहुत complex production planning, CRM या integrated ERP की जरूरत हो तो broader ERP solution की तुलना करनी चाहिए।
Service provider

Accountant या CA office clients की companies में vouchers, ledgers, GST reports, bank reconciliation, outstanding और financial statements manage कर सकता है। अलग clients की data security, user permissions और license scope पर विशेष ध्यान देना चाहिए।
Multi-branch business
Multi-branch business को synchronization, remote access, server या cloud architecture की जरूरत पड़ सकती है। Branch data structure, user rights, reporting period और inter-branch transactions पहले design करना चाहिए।
TallyPrime में शुरुआत कैसे करें: beginner workflow
Step 1: System requirements और installation
Official recommended configuration के अनुसार TallyPrime के लिए लगभग 1.8 GHz या उससे तेज 64-bit processor, कम-से-कम 4 GB RAM, application के लिए लगभग 150 MB free disk space, 1366 × 768 monitor resolution और administrator permissions चाहिए। Supported environment 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2 या बाद का Windows version है, जिसमें Windows 11 भी शामिल है। Company data के लिए अतिरिक्त storage चाहिए। यह configuration page 4 फरवरी 2025 को updated था; नए releases में current requirements फिर से check करें। System requirements देखें।
Step 2: License activate करें
- TallyPrime install करें।
- Welcome screen पर Activate License चुनें।
- Serial Number, Activation Key और email या Tally.NET ID दर्ज करें।
- Email पर मिले Unlock Key से activation पूरा करें।
Activation से पहले product Educational Mode में चल सकता है। License activation guide देखें।
Step 3: Company बनाएं
पहली बार TallyPrime खोलने पर Create Company चुनें। यदि कोई company पहले से खुली है, तो Alt+K (Company) > Create path इस्तेमाल करें। Company name, mailing name, address, country, state और contact details भरें। इसके बाद financial year और books beginning date सही दर्ज करें। जरूरत के अनुसार accounting, inventory, payroll और taxation features enable करें। Company creation की official guide देखें।
Financial year या books beginning date गलत भरने पर opening balances, reports और पुराने transactions प्रभावित हो सकते हैं। Date बदलने से पहले backup बनाना चाहिए।

Step 4: GST configure करें
F11 > Enable Goods and Services Tax (GST) > Yes चुनें। Company का State, GSTIN/UIN, registration type और लागू tax settings दर्ज करें। इसके बाद party ledgers, sales/purchase ledgers, stock items, HSN/SAC और GST rates configure करें। यदि business e-Invoice या e-Way Bill use करता है तो connected credentials और authentication भी पूरा करें।
Step 5: Masters बनाएं
Business के अनुसार कम-से-कम इन masters की जरूरत हो सकती है:
- Cash और bank ledgers
- Capital ledger
- Sales और purchase ledgers
- Expense और income ledgers
- Customers और suppliers
- Stock groups और stock items
- Units of measurement
- Godowns
- Tax ledgers
- Employees, pay heads और attendance masters, यदि payroll चाहिए
Ledger बनाने के लिए Alt+G > Create Master > Ledger path अपनाएँ। Transaction screen पर Alt+C से on-the-fly ledger बनाया जा सकता है, लेकिन बड़े setup में masters को पहले से standardize करना errors कम करता है।
Step 6: पहला transaction record करें

पहली entry के बाद केवल invoice print करके आगे न बढ़ें। Day Book, Ledger, Trial Balance, Stock Summary, Outstanding Receivables/Payables, Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, GST reports और Bank Reconciliation check करें। यह अभ्यास शुरुआती गलत ledger grouping, opening balance, tax setup और stock entry को जल्दी पकड़ने में मदद करता है।
Step 8: Backup लें
Software में data save होना backup नहीं है। अलग backup policy बनाएं:
- दैनिक local backup;
- अलग drive या external storage पर copy;
- समय-समय पर off-site या cloud backup;

- backup password और recovery details को सुरक्षित रखना।

Manual registers और duplicate work कम करना
एक transaction से संबंधित ledger, stock और reports को व्यवस्थित रूप से update किया जा सकता है। इससे अलग-अलग registers में वही जानकारी दोहराने की जरूरत कम होती है।
Billing तेज और standard बनाना
Predefined और customized invoice formats से billing अधिक consistent हो सकती है। Customer को print, email या supported sharing method से invoice देना भी आसान हो सकता है।
Stock visibility
Stock Summary, godown-wise reports, batches और stock movement से business को यह समझने में मदद मिलती है कि कितना माल उपलब्ध है, कहाँ रखा है और किस movement से quantity बदली।
Outstanding collection बेहतर करना
Bill-wise receivables और payables से customer से कितनी राशि और कब तक प्राप्त करनी है, तथा supplier को कितना भुगतान बाकी है, यह देखा जा सकता है।

Windows desktop dependency
TallyPrime का core application मूल रूप से Windows desktop application है। इसलिए इसे native browser-first या पूरी तरह cloud-based product समझकर खरीदना सही नहीं होगा। Mac, Chromebook या mobile से access के लिए Remote Access, Browser Reports या TallyPrime Cloud Access जैसे अलग options देखने पड़ सकते हैं।

Common mistakes और उनका समाधान
गलती 1: Sales और receipt को एक ही entry समझना
Sales voucher invoice या sale record करता है; Receipt voucher customer से payment मिलने को record करता है। Credit sale के बाद पैसा मिलने पर दोनों transactions अलग-अलग दर्ज होते हैं।
गलती 2: गलत ledger group चुनना
Expense को asset group में या customer को गलत sundry group में रखने से Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet और outstanding reports प्रभावित हो सकते हैं। Ledger बनाने से पहले उसका nature तय करें।

गलती 3: GST rate केवल invoice देखकर मान लेना
Item, service, HSN/SAC, place of supply, customer type और applicable tax treatment की जाँच करें। GST setup को accountant से review कराएँ।
गलती 4: Opening stock और opening balance बिना मिलान के भरना
पिछले books, physical stock और bank/cash balance से opening figures reconcile करें। गलत opening data आगे की reports को लगातार प्रभावित करेगा।
गलती 5: Backup एक ही computer में रखना
यदि computer खराब हुआ तो उसी disk पर रखा backup भी खो सकता है। कम-से-कम एक अलग drive और periodic off-site copy रखें; restore test भी करें।
गलती 6: Edit Log data को बिना planning repair करना
Edit Log-enabled company में repair से पहले backup लें और auditor या administrator से प्रभाव समझें। Repair के बाद audit trail की स्थिति verify करें।
