Zulily’s Rebirth: What Marcus Lemonis Planned—and Who Owns It Now

Zulily is back with limited-time shopping events, but Marcus Lemonis’s flash-sale strategy was announced in 2024, when he was Beyond Inc.’s executive chairman—not as a statement of who controls the retailer today. Beyond sold a 75% interest in the Zulily brand to Lyons Trading Company in 2025 and retained 25%. Zulily’s current About page describes a relaunched business built around time-limited shopping events.

What Marcus Lemonis proposed for Zulily in 2024

In a March 7, 2024 interview with GeekWire, Marcus Lemonis said Zulily would return to limited-time flash sales: “The flash sale, get-it-before-it-runs-out model — that’s how it will be rebirthed.” At the time, Lemonis was Beyond Inc.’s executive chairman, speaking after Beyond had acquired Zulily’s brand assets.

Women, families and household occasions

Lemonis pointed to Zulily’s original appeal to women and new mothers, while also considering kitchen and lifestyle merchandise. He described the broader ambition as capturing “all the life events in everybody’s household.” That was his stated strategy in 2024; it should not be read as a current operating plan issued by Zulily’s majority owner.

What the acquisition was meant to do

Beyond’s March 2024 announcement said the acquisition would expand its off-price home and lifestyle business and give vendors another sales channel. Beyond said at the time that it expected the site to be fully functional by the end of the second quarter of 2024. In a May 2024 results release, it said it planned to relaunch Zulily later that year. Those were plans announced before the subsequent ownership change, not current scheduling information.

Who owns Zulily now?

Beyond announced in March 2025 that it had agreed to sell Lyons Trading Company, the operator of Proozy.com, a 75% interest in the Zulily brand for $5 million, while retaining a 25% interest. Beyond’s 2025 Form 10-K identifies the retained stake as belonging to a newly created entity, Zulily Newco.

The SEC filing says Beyond received an initial $1.25 million and was to receive the remaining $3.75 million in quarterly installments beginning April 30, 2026, over five years. The sale announcement and filing establish the ownership arrangement; they do not establish Lemonis’s current operational role at Zulily.

Is Zulily back, and does it still do flash sales?

Zulily’s current About page describes the business as relaunched and says it offers daily discovery through limited-time shopping events. It lists apparel, footwear, home goods and beauty among its categories. That supports saying the current site uses a time-limited-event model, though it does not establish that every detail matches Lemonis’s 2024 plan.

The same page advertises savings of “up to 90% off.” That is Zulily’s promotional claim, not independent evidence that customers typically save that much. The available information here also does not establish a comparative price advantage or a full assessment of customer experience.

What happened to Zulily before the relaunch?

Zulily closed and entered liquidation in December 2023. Beyond acquired its intellectual property and other brand assets in March 2024 for $4.5 million plus related acquisition costs, according to its acquisition announcement. It later sold the majority interest to Lyons Trading, marking a change in ownership after Lemonis described the revival strategy.

Lemonis also criticized Zulily’s former ownership in the GeekWire interview, saying the company’s rise and fall was a function of its owners. That is his assessment, not an independently established explanation of the retailer’s closure.

Why reported 2023 revenue figures differ

GeekWire reported that Lemonis put Zulily’s 2023 revenue at around $900 million and said 18 million people had registered as buyers over the prior two years. Those figures are attributed to Lemonis; the article does not establish that the revenue number was audited, and registered buyers should not be mistaken for active customers.

Qurate Retail’s 2025 SEC filing gives a different figure: $301 million in Zulily revenue for 2023 through May 23. That is a partial-period figure with a different stated basis, so it should not be treated as directly comparable to Lemonis’s approximately $900 million estimate for 2023.
