Zcash ETF Reports $93.6 Million in Weekly Outflows: Is ZEC’s Rally Over?

Grayscale’s Zcash ETF reportedly saw $93.6 million in weekly net outflows. Here’s what that signals—and why it does not settle whether ZEC’s rally has ended.

One reported week of $93.6 million in net outflows from Grayscale’s Zcash ETF is a clear sign of weaker demand during that period, but it does not prove ZEC’s rally is over. BeInCrypto’s October 3, 2026 report put ZEC near $1,308 and identified $1,270–$1,300 as a near-term chart level to watch. Those are dated, secondary-source figures—not live prices or a forecast. Whether the rally has ended depends on what happens next in both the fund flows and ZEC’s price action.

What the $93.6 million outflow figure tells you

BeInCrypto reported that Grayscale’s Zcash ETF, ticker ZCSH, had $93.6 million in net outflows for the week covered by its October 3, 2026 article. The report described it as the fund’s first outflow week since its August launch and contrasted it with $98.2 million in reported inflows two weeks earlier. CoinNess separately reported the same weekly total, attributing it to SoSoValue.

The total is secondary-source reporting, not a figure independently reconciled here against a complete daily flow ledger. The reports point to SoSoValue, but a primary dated record covering the entire week was not available in the cited material. Treat $93.6 million as a reported total rather than an independently verified accounting.

Outflows indicate that net fund share redemptions exceeded creations over the measured period, as reported. They are evidence of a change in demand, not proof that ETF activity caused ZEC’s decline or that every investor is bearish.

What happened to ZEC’s price in the same report?

BeInCrypto’s October 3 chart snapshot placed ZEC near $1,308, about 17.5% lower week over week and roughly 23% below a recent high near $1,690. These numbers describe that dated snapshot; they should not be read as current quotes.

The article marked $1,270–$1,300 as a near-term support area. Its scenarios were conditional: a break below that zone could put roughly $1,155 in view, while easing selling pressure could allow a rebound toward $1,320–$1,360. It described a move above $1,380–$1,425 as stronger evidence of recovery. These are technical levels from a secondary chart analysis, not established price targets or reliable predictions.

How to judge whether the rally is ending

A single negative-flow week alongside a falling price is a warning that momentum and fund demand weakened in the reported period. A more convincing case that a rally has ended would require follow-through rather than extrapolating from one week.

  • Watch duration: repeated net outflow weeks would matter more than one reported weekly reversal.
  • Compare flows with price: the October 3 support and resistance levels are useful only as dated reference points; check current market data before relying on them.
  • Assess the quality of early fund demand: distinguish broad investor activity from the disclosed affiliated investment that contributed to ZCSH’s initial assets.
  • Look for corroboration: renewed inflows could indicate returning demand, but would not guarantee a price recovery.

The reported outflows and price weakness therefore support a cautious reading, not a definitive verdict. The available figures do not establish that ETF redemptions drove the whole decline, and the technical scenarios do not show what ZEC will do next.

Why ZCSH’s early assets need context

ZCSH began trading on NYSE Arca on August 25, 2026. On September 8, Grayscale reported that assets under management had exceeded $500 million. The issuer said approximately $100 million of that amount came from DCG International Investments Ltd., an affiliate, and that the investment was made through an authorized participant in exchange for 85,705.32563297 ZEC.

Grayscale also said the fund had received more than $70 million in cumulative inflows during its first two weeks as an ETP, in addition to the affiliate’s $100 million investment. The issuer’s AUM milestone is real context, but the full AUM figure should not be treated as evidence of equivalent broad, independent investor demand.

What ETF outflows mean—and do not mean

An ETF share is a fund interest, not direct ZEC ownership for the shareholder. ZCSH’s September 2026 prospectus says the sponsor publishes NAV and NAV per share each business day, while authorized participants distribute shares through an arbitrage mechanism intended to keep share prices closely linked to the index price. That primary-market creation and redemption process is distinct from an ordinary investor buying or selling shares on an exchange.

Grayscale’s June 30, 2026 Form 10-Q described the trust’s earlier operations, including ZEC creation and redemption transactions and its NAV process. It stated that the trust was not accepting shareholder redemption requests at that quarter-end. Because the ETF conversion took place after June 30, that statement is historical and should not be taken as a description of the ETF’s current redemption arrangements.

Zcash privacy is a network feature, not an ETF benefit

Zcash supports both transparent and shielded transactions. Shielded transactions can conceal the sender, recipient, and amount, while viewing keys allow selective disclosure. Owning a ZCSH share does not itself give a shareholder direct control of ZEC or access to those network features. Grayscale cites a 21-million-coin supply cap for ZEC, but that supply characteristic does not settle the fund-flow or price question.

Risks of treating ZCSH as a proxy for ZEC

The fund adds product-specific risks to exposure to a volatile digital asset. Grayscale’s SEC-filed release says ZCSH is not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and warns that it involves significant risk and heightened volatility, including the possibility of losing the entire investment. A ZCSH share and directly held ZEC are different forms of exposure, with different ownership and operational considerations.
