Yes. YouTube TV raised the U.S. price of its main plan by $10 per month, from $72.99 to $82.99. New subscribers paid the higher rate beginning December 12, 2024. For most existing subscribers, it appeared on the first bill dated January 13, 2025 or later. That means the 2025 increase was real, but “again” refers to another increase after the 2023 adjustment—not several separate base-plan hikes during 2025.
What changed in YouTube TV’s 2025 increase?
The increase applied to YouTube TV’s standard U.S. base plan. It was a disclosed recurring-price change, not a hidden fee or a charge for adding a new premium tier.
| Measure | Before the increase | After the increase | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly base-plan price | $72.99 | $82.99 | $10 more |
| Annualized cost | $875.88 | $995.88 | $120 more per year |
| Approximate percentage change | — | — | 13.7% |
The annual figures multiply the monthly advertised prices by 12; they do not include taxes, add-ons or a promotional rate. Headlines sometimes round $82.99 to $83, but $82.99 is the advertised monthly price. The Associated Press reported the increase, and subscriber discussions documented the billing change.
When did subscribers start paying $82.99?

Existing subscribers
For most existing customers, the new price applied to the first billing cycle with a bill date on or after January 13, 2025. A December announcement therefore did not necessarily mean a December charge.
Promotions, trials and unusual billing dates
An introductory promotion generally continued until its stated expiration, after which the account moved to the regular rate. Trial terms, account-specific offers and billing through a third party can produce different transition dates. Check the billing date and offer terms in your account rather than assuming every subscriber changed on January 13.
YouTube TV’s support discussion about the base-plan increase explains the timing, while another support discussion addresses promotional pricing.
Why did YouTube TV raise its price?
YouTube said the change reflected rising content costs and continued investment in the service. The company did not publish a network-by-network accounting showing how much of the $10 came from particular channels, sports rights, technology or operating expenses.

It is reasonable to understand live-TV distributors as operating under expensive programming and sports-rights contracts, but that is context—not proof that a specific network caused this increase. The documented explanation is YouTube’s general statement about content costs and investment.
What does “going up again” mean?
YouTube TV had already raised its base price in 2023, when it moved to $72.99. The January 2025 change was another hike after that adjustment. Available evidence supports one major base-plan increase taking effect in January 2025; it does not establish repeated separate increases to the main plan throughout calendar year 2025.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 2023 | Earlier base-plan increase to $72.99. |
| December 12, 2024 | $82.99 price began for new subscribers. |
| January 13, 2025 or later | Most existing subscribers saw the new rate on the applicable bill. |
| 2026 | YouTube TV introduced lower-priced focused plans while retaining the comprehensive plan. |
Did subscribers get more for the higher price?
The price announcement did not present the $10 as a separate premium-feature surcharge. The main plan’s contemporary description continued to include more than 100 networks, unlimited cloud DVR, up to six household accounts, Multiview and sports-oriented tools such as Key Plays. Optional products included NFL Sunday Ticket, Sports Plus, HBO Max and 4K Plus.
Channel lineups, local stations, regional sports availability and add-ons vary by location, plan and date. The official YouTube TV plans and help page is the appropriate reference for current inclusions; do not assume a national channel count guarantees the same local lineup in every ZIP code.

How much did the increase cost a household?
- One month: $10 more than the old base price.
- One year: $120 more, assuming the price stayed unchanged for 12 months.
- Two years: $240 more under the same assumption.
Your actual bill can be higher because the $82.99 is only the base plan. Add-ons, taxes, equipment, third-party billing and an expired introductory offer can all change the total. Compare the recurring post-promotion charge, not a discounted first month.
Ways to reduce the bill without immediately switching
Remove unused add-ons
Review 4K Plus, Sports Plus, premium networks, NFL Sunday Ticket and other paid packages. Canceling an add-on can save more than changing the base service if you rarely use it. A mid-cycle change may take effect on the next billing period.
Pause the membership
YouTube TV permits pausing or canceling, but available pause lengths and controls can be account-specific. Verify the options shown in your current account before relying on a particular pause period.
Cancel with the billing cycle in mind
Cancellation may preserve access until the end of the paid billing period rather than stopping service immediately. Existing promotional eligibility may not return if you reactivate, so record the offer terms before canceling.

Consider a focused YouTube TV plan
In 2026, YouTube TV added lower-priced genre-focused choices, including Sports, Sports + News and Entertainment combinations. The official YouTube plan announcement lists the available packages and prices. These are later developments, not 2025 prices, and they omit channels included in the comprehensive plan.

Compare the channels and the complete recurring bill, not just the headline rate. Before canceling, check:
- Required ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, ESPN, news and entertainment channels.
- Local-channel and regional-sports availability at your address.
- Sports packages, blackouts and add-on charges.
- DVR capacity and recording rules.
- Simultaneous streams for your household.
- Taxes, equipment, separate apps and the price after any promotion.
- Whether monthly cancellation and pause terms meet your needs.
Hulu + Live TV
Hulu’s official page listed Hulu with ads plus Live TV at $89.99 per month when checked, above YouTube TV’s $82.99 main-plan price. It may still suit households that value Hulu’s on-demand library, but verify the post-promotion price and channel lineup at Hulu’s official Live TV page.
Fubo
Fubo can be worth evaluating for sports-focused households. Package names, local availability, add-ons and prices vary, so use its official channel and plan help page and checkout flow rather than relying on an old price.

Sling TV
Sling can cost less when you need only a partial channel lineup. It is not automatically a replacement for YouTube TV: verify local broadcast channels and the specific sports networks you watch.
Antenna plus separate streaming apps
An antenna can cover local broadcast networks, potentially paired with individual entertainment or sports apps. This approach generally does not reproduce YouTube TV’s national cable channels, unified guide, cloud DVR or all-in-one sports coverage.
Free streaming services
Free services can supplement news, older programs and selected live channels, but they are usually not a full substitute for YouTube TV’s local-network and national-sports package.
What to check before canceling
- Open your latest bill and separate the $82.99 base charge from add-ons, taxes and other fees.
- List the channels, local stations and sports rights your household actually watches.
- Check whether a promotion is still active and when it ends.
- Price a focused YouTube TV plan or competing service using its recurring rate after promotions.
- Confirm DVR, stream, pause and cancellation terms before ending service.
- Compare the replacement’s total monthly cost, including separate apps or an antenna.
As of August 18, 2026, YouTube TV still lists the main plan at $82.99 per month, while focused plans provide a newer way to reduce the bill for viewers willing to accept fewer channels. See the official YouTube TV site for current signup details.

YouTube TV’s 2025 increase was a genuine $10 monthly rise to $82.99 for the U.S. main plan. Most existing subscribers encountered it on bills dated January 13, 2025 or later. Whether to stay depends on your required channels, sports, add-ons and total bill; trim unused packages or compare the later focused plans before abandoning the service altogether.
