Yoodli announced a $13.7 million Series A on May 20, 2025, led by Neotribe, to expand an AI platform that simulates sales and other high-stakes conversations. Madrona and Cercano participated, taking the company’s reported funding total above $20 million at that date. The round is historical: Yoodli’s press page later listed a $40 million Series B announced in December 2025.
The May 2025 financing
According to Yoodli’s announcement, Neotribe led the Series A, with existing investors Madrona and Cercano joining the round. Neotribe’s Neeraj Hablani was also set to join Yoodli’s board. The company said it would use the money to hire in customer success, sales and engineering; make roleplays more realistic and personalized; expand enterprise and learner adoption; and build partnerships with coaching firms, learning platforms, CRM systems and content-management providers.
The financing should not be described as Yoodli’s latest round or current total. The company’s press page lists a subsequent $40 million Series B announcement in December 2025.
What Yoodli actually sells
Yoodli calls its product “AI Roleplays,” a category it positions as experiential learning rather than a conventional chatbot or speech-analysis tool. A learner or manager selects a situation, chooses or designs an AI persona, conducts a live conversation, receives coaching-oriented feedback, and repeats the exercise with a different approach.

- Choose a scenario, such as a discovery call, pricing objection or product launch.
- Set variables including persona, language, difficulty, feedback style and organizational goals.
- Speak with one or more simulated participants.
- Review feedback on communication behaviors and the interaction.
- Repeat the roleplay and compare the new attempt with the earlier one.
The attraction is private repetition. A seller can rehearse several times without asking a manager or colleague to perform the same mock call, and without risking a real customer relationship. The flight-simulator comparison is useful: the system creates a low-stakes environment for practicing decisions before the stakes are real.
Illustrative sales scenarios
- Answering “send me an email” without ending the conversation.
- Defending price to a skeptical procurement leader.
- Explaining a newly launched product to a buyer unfamiliar with the category.
- Presenting to a buying committee with several virtual participants.
- Preparing for partner training, onboarding or a pitch-certification exercise.
These examples describe the type of practice the platform is designed to support; they are not evidence that any particular customer uses each scenario.
Why sales enablement is a natural starting point
Sales teams repeatedly need to learn new products, messages and objection-handling approaches. Managers, however, cannot realistically conduct every mock call for every new hire or territory. AI roleplay offers a way to make practice more frequent while keeping scenarios and evaluation more consistent.

Yoodli’s sales use cases include pitch practice, objection handling, new-product-launch preparation, onboarding, partner training, sales-call simulations and standardized certification. The focus is not simply generating a better script. It is rehearsing delivery and adaptation: pacing, clarity, confidence, responses to unexpected questions and the ability to adjust to a buyer.

From public speaking to enterprise communication
Yoodli was founded in Seattle in 2021 through the AI2 incubator. Chief executive Varun Puri previously worked as a product manager at X Development, Alphabet’s research and development organization. Co-founder Esha Joshi previously worked as a product manager at Apple.

- good reading and very informative
The company began with a consumer-oriented public-speaking product and expanded toward enterprise communication training. Its stated roleplay applications now extend beyond sales and customer success to manager conversations, leadership development, performance reviews, media interviews, healthcare simulations, public speaking and venture-capital pitches.
Customers, partnerships and what those references mean
Yoodli says it works with Google, Databricks, RingCentral, Snowflake, BDO and hundreds of other organizations. GeekWire independently reported use by Databricks, RingCentral and Snowflake and described partnerships involving Toastmasters and Korn Ferry. These references show enterprise interest, but they do not establish company-wide deployment, contract size, user count, retention or return on investment for each organization.

Yoodli’s chief executive has said the technology is intended to augment human coaches. AI can conduct repeatable practice and provide an initial review; a coach can interpret context, emotion, intent and organizational consequences, then decide what development should happen next.
That division matters because communication is not reducible to a universal score. Automated feedback may miss irony, power dynamics, cultural cues, industry nuance or the strategic reason a seller chose a particular response. A fast recommendation is not automatically an accurate one, and a polished performance in a simulation is not proof of readiness for a real customer.
Where the product may fit—and where it may not
| Potential fit | Reason |
|---|---|
| Large or distributed sales teams | Many sellers can practice standardized scenarios without scheduling a manager for every session. |
| Launches and onboarding | New messaging and objections can be rehearsed before customer exposure. |
| Coaching organizations | AI can provide first-pass feedback while human coaches handle interpretation and development. |
| Highly relationship- or domain-dependent selling | Nuanced judgment may be difficult to simulate reliably. |
| Organizations seeking validated sales ROI | Public materials do not provide controlled evidence linking scores to revenue outcomes. |
| Teams unable to govern recordings | Voice, video and performance data require clear consent, retention and access policies. |
What buyers should check before a deployment
- Whether administrators can create realistic personas, scenarios and dynamic objections.
- How scoring rubrics are configured and whether recommendations are explainable.
- Support for multiple participants, languages, accents and industry terminology.
- Manager workflows for assigning, reviewing and coaching sessions.
- Integrations with learning-management, CRM, identity, content and analytics systems.
- Data retention, deletion, residency, access controls and whether customer data trains shared models.
- Evidence that practice metrics align with expert human coaching and the organization’s sales methodology.
- Total implementation cost, including scenario design, manager training, seats and integration work.
How Yoodli compares with adjacent categories
Yoodli’s central proposition is simulated practice plus communication coaching. That differs from products primarily focused on analyzing real customer calls or running a broader revenue-intelligence operation.
| Category or product | Primary emphasis | Key distinction from Yoodli |
|---|---|---|
| Second Nature | AI sales training and roleplay | Generally narrower sales-training positioning. |
| Hyperbound | Sales roleplay and coaching | More explicitly focused on revenue teams. |
| Gong | Recording and analyzing real sales conversations, forecasting and coaching | Primarily examines live customer interactions rather than simulated practice. |
| Quantified | Sales training, coaching and AI roleplay | Another sales-oriented alternative requiring comparison of scenarios, scoring and integrations. |
None of these categories should be treated as interchangeable. A team looking for broad public-speaking and leadership practice may value Yoodli’s wider scope, while a sales-only organization may prefer a specialist. A company focused on post-call analytics needs a different workflow from one trying to prepare sellers before the call.

What remains unproven
- No controlled study or independent customer analysis in the cited material demonstrates higher conversion, quota attainment or retention.
- Feedback quality may vary by scenario, language, accent, industry and the quality of the organization’s scenario design.
- Public enterprise pricing was not established. Yoodli’s May 2025 announcement said individuals could try the product free and directed teams to contact sales.
- Customer logos do not reveal deployment scale, department, contract status or measured ROI.
Current status and practical takeaway
The May 2025 Series A marked a significant enterprise-AI funding event and a clearer attempt to define AI roleplay as a market category. For sales leaders, Yoodli is worth considering when the problem is insufficient practice capacity, inconsistent onboarding or the need to rehearse a launch repeatedly. It should be evaluated as a practice layer alongside managers and coaches—not as a substitute for customer exposure, expert judgment or governance.
For investors and technology readers, the more important question is whether Yoodli can turn simulated communication feedback into durable business value. The financing and named users establish momentum; they do not, by themselves, establish that the system improves sales results.
