Work Immersion-Module 1 | PDF | Curriculum | Learning refers to a Grade 12 pre-immersion orientation module from the Schools Division of Pasig City, First Edition 2020. It introduces the purpose and vocabulary of Work Immersion, asks learners to consider suitable venues and likely obstacles, and provides activities and a post-test. It is an orientation resource—not a placement directory or a complete statement of current DepEd policy.
What is Work Immersion Module 1?
The module is a Pre-Immersion, Quarter 1, Module 1 resource for Grade 12 learners. Its cover credits Arlene I. Donor as writer and Liza A. Alvarez as editor and reviewer, and identifies the publisher as the Department of Education Schools Division of Pasig City. The identified copy is hosted on Scribd, a third-party document platform; that hosting does not establish that Scribd is an official DepEd repository or that the copy is an official download edition. Its first lesson is titled “Orientation.” The module aims to help learners define Work Immersion and its nature, understand why it is conducted, learn basic terms, and suggest responses to obstacles they may encounter. It gives learners a starting point for preparation before placement or an equivalent school activity, rather than documenting any particular learner’s workplace experience.
What does the module cover?
Purpose and preparation
The lesson introduces Work Immersion as a way to become familiar with a workplace, simulate employment, and apply learned competencies in authentic settings. It asks learners to consider why the subject is conducted and whether they are excited for the experience.

Terms learners are expected to know
Key vocabulary includes partnership, partner institution, Memorandum of Agreement, Work Immersion venue, Work Immersion teacher, and partner institution supervisor. The activities ask learners to identify a venue suited to their track, explain why it is suitable, and suggest actions for anticipated obstacles.
Activities and self-paced format
The packet is organized around expectations, a pretest, recap, lesson, activities, wrap-up, valuing, and post-test. A facilitator is asked to orient learners, monitor progress, and support independent learning. The module directs learners to record answers on an answer sheet and specifies yellow paper in the post-test directions; a notebook or loose-leaf paper can also help organize responses, but no particular product is required.

How does the module fit DepEd Work Immersion policy?
DepEd Order No. 30, s. 2017, titled Guidelines for Work Immersion, is the national guideline cited by the module. It says the order takes effect beginning School Year 2017-2018 and calls Work Immersion “a key feature of the SHS Curriculum.” Read DepEd Order No. 30, s. 2017.
The module’s recap uses an 80-hour framing, but that number should not be read as a rule that every Senior High School learner in every track completes exactly 80 hours of workplace placement. DepEd Order No. 39, s. 2018 clarified that schools may devise Work Immersion models from a minimum of 80 to a maximum of 320 hours. It identifies Work Immersion as required for learners in the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track, while learners in other tracks may have Work Immersion or an alternative: Business Enterprise Simulation for ABM, a Culminating Activity for HUMSS, or a Research/Capstone Project for STEM. Schools are also directed to account for TVL specialization requirements. Read DepEd Order No. 39, s. 2018.

DepEd’s public explanation in 2018 described the goals as workplace familiarity, employment simulation, and applying competencies in authentic environments. That explanation reflects the rules and implementation context at the time; it is not an exhaustive statement of current arrangements. Read DepEd’s 2018 explanation.

The module refers to crisis-era memorandum DM-CI-2020-00085 and discusses home-based, in-school, community-based, and school-industry-partnership arrangements as possible delivery models in the COVID-era context. Those examples describe the circumstances addressed by the 2020 resource; they should not be treated as today’s default delivery rule.

DepEd Memorandum No. 052, s. 2025 is described in official search results as guidance for Enhanced SHS Work Immersion Program pilot implementers in SY 2025-2026 and SY 2026-2027. Its stated scope is pilot-specific, so it does not show that every school participates. Because the memorandum’s full provisions are not established here, learners should consult their school for the applicable written instructions rather than infer detailed requirements from its title or pilot dates. Quick Recap
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
How should learners use the module?
- Use it as an orientation packet. Work through the lesson’s definitions and reasons for Work Immersion, then complete the activities and post-test.
- Connect the prompts to your track. Consider what kind of venue or approved equivalent activity fits your track, and explain the connection rather than selecting a workplace at random.
- Think through obstacles in advance. Use the module’s prompt to identify possible challenges and practical actions to discuss with the teacher or school.
- Check current school directions. Confirm the applicable hours, track requirements, delivery arrangement, placement and safety instructions, and whether your school follows any pilot guidance. The 2020 module cannot establish those details for your current cohort.
What the module does not establish
- It is not a directory of available employers or placement slots.
- It does not prove that a particular student completed Work Immersion or describe workplace outcomes.
- It is not, by itself, a current policy manual for every track, school, or pilot program.
- The third-party-hosted copy does not verify an official DepEd download source.
