Will Zcash (ZEC) Stay Above $1,000 Through October 2026?

Zcash was above $1,000 in the latest available observations on October 3, 2026, but neither those prices nor a 90-day forecast can confirm it will stay there through month-end.

As of October 3, 2026, Zcash (ZEC) was still above $1,000 in the latest available observations—but that does not establish whether it will stay above the threshold through October 31. CoinGecko’s latest completed daily close was $1,301.16 on October 2. A ZecStats live snapshot showed $1,299.09 at 15:46 UTC on October 3, down 5.4% over the prior 24 hours. These are dated observations, not a guarantee about the rest of the month.

What the latest ZEC prices say about $1,000

Measure Price and time What it tells you
Completed daily close $1,301.16 on October 2, 2026, according to CoinGecko The latest completed daily close available in the retrieved price table was above $1,000.
Live snapshot $1,299.09 at 15:46 UTC on October 3, 2026, according to ZecStats ZEC was above $1,000 at that displayed moment; ZecStats reported it was down 5.4% over 24 hours.

CoinGecko had not yet posted a completed October 3 daily close. The two figures also use different conventions: one is a completed daily close and the other is a live quote. Neither can answer whether ZEC will be above $1,000 at the end of October, and crypto prices can change between observations.

What the 90-day forecast suggests—and what it cannot answer

A CryptoSlate forecast page, accessed October 3 and using an October 2 reference close, gives a 90-day distribution rather than a month-end prediction. Its bullish P80 terminal estimate is $2,057, with a P70–P90 corridor of $1,694–$2,960. Its bearish P20 terminal estimate is $790, with a P10–P30 corridor of $641–$941.

The bearish estimate and its stated corridor are below $1,000, while the bullish estimate and corridor are above it. Those are modeled scenarios, not promised outcomes. Because the model runs for 90 days from its reference date, it extends beyond October and does not establish where ZEC will finish the month.

Is the 1,077% rally figure verified?

The available sources do not establish the start date, end date, or calculation behind the exact 1,077% figure. Without that measurement window, it should not be treated as a verified return. ZecStats reported a one-year USD gain of 920.3% as of October 3, 2026, and a calendar-year 2025 return of 810.4%. These figures cover different periods and neither validates 1,077%.

Comparisons with Bitcoin or Ethereum also need a clearly stated basis. A ZEC return measured in USD is not the same as ZEC’s relative performance against BTC or ETH. For any comparison, align the currency, start and end dates, and whether the measure is an absolute USD return or a return relative to another asset.

Supply and shielded use are context, not a price floor

A June 2026 filing hosted by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission describes Zcash as an Equihash proof-of-work network with a maximum supply of 21 million ZEC and periodic subsidy halvings; the most recent halving was in 2024. Those protocol features do not create a guaranteed minimum market price. The filing is from a market participant, not a CFTC finding that ZEC is a suitable investment or that a particular price is likely.

ZecStats reported that about 29.1% of issued ZEC was in shielded pools on October 3, 2026. That is a measure of shielded-pool use, not evidence that privacy features caused the rally or will keep the price above $1,000. ZecStats presents a link between privacy demand and a potential premium as a thesis, not an established price effect.

How to assess whether ZEC is holding the threshold

  • Set the date you mean. A live quote, a daily close, and the October 31 price answer different questions. Record the source and timestamp alongside each figure.
  • Use a consistent price convention. Compare completed daily closes with completed daily closes, or live quotes with live quotes; do not treat them as interchangeable.
  • Check the forecast horizon and update date. A 90-day distribution based on an October 2 reference close is not an October-only forecast. Recheck the model’s current reference date and target horizon before relying on it.
  • Keep return windows and denominators straight. A one-year USD return cannot be substituted for a calendar-year return or a performance comparison against BTC or ETH.

For background, the Zcash Foundation’s Q1 2026 report describes the protocol as decentralized and open source and discusses ecosystem changes, including departures from Electric Coin Company. It does not establish that those organizational changes had a particular effect on ZEC’s price.
