Mark Zuckerberg had dinner with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on November 27, 2024. Meta confirmed the meeting, and Trump adviser Stephen Miller discussed it publicly the next day. Neither public account disclosed what the two men said in private or established that they reached an agreement. “Mending” the relationship is a description of the meeting’s apparent context, not a confirmed outcome.
What happened at Mar-a-Lago?
Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, dined with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Trump had won the presidential election but had not yet taken office, so he was president-elect at the time. Contemporary reports appeared on November 28.
Meta’s spokesperson said Zuckerberg was “grateful for the invitation to join President Trump for dinner and the opportunity to meet with members of his team about the incoming Administration.” That describes the opportunity Meta acknowledged; it does not detail the private conversation.
Why was the meeting seen as an effort to improve relations?
The two men’s relationship had been strained by Meta’s decision to suspend Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts after the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Meta restored the accounts in early 2023, subject to guardrails. That history helps explain why a dinner with the president-elect drew attention.
#1 Best Overall
Contemporary coverage characterized the dinner as an effort to improve Zuckerberg’s standing with political conservatives or to break bread after a feud. Those are journalistic interpretations of the context, not a documented statement that reconciliation was the agreed purpose. The reporting does not establish that the relationship was repaired or that Meta changed its policies as a result.
What did Zuckerberg and Trump discuss?
The public accounts do not reveal the substance of their private discussion. Meta described a chance to meet members of the incoming administration, but neither that statement nor the reporting establishes a specific policy bargain, promise, or resolution.

Miller, Trump’s incoming deputy chief of staff, offered his own characterization in a Fox News interview. He said Zuckerberg “has his own interest, and he has his own company and he has his own agenda,” then added: “But he’s made clear that he wants to support the national renewal of America under Trump’s leadership.” Those remarks are Miller’s account, not a direct statement from Zuckerberg about what was said at dinner.

- Confirmed: Zuckerberg and Trump met for dinner at Mar-a-Lago on November 27, 2024, and Meta acknowledged the invitation and meeting.
- Public characterization: Meta described an opportunity to meet the incoming team; Miller described Zuckerberg as wanting to support Trump’s program while pursuing his own company interests.
- Not established: The private conversation’s details, any specific agreement, or a lasting change in the men’s relationship.
The distinction matters: the meeting itself is documented, but claims about its purpose or consequences go beyond what the public accounts confirm.
