Amazon Music usually keeps charging because a paid plan is still set to renew, a free or promotional trial converted to a paid subscription, or another company—such as Apple, Google, or a mobile carrier—is handling the billing. Prime’s music benefit and Amazon Music Unlimited are different: Prime does not automatically mean you have a full Unlimited subscription. To stop the charge, match the statement entry to its account and billing provider, then cancel through that provider.
First, identify what the charge is for
Copy the exact merchant descriptor from your bank statement, along with the date, amount, currency, last four digits of the card, and whether the entry is pending or posted. A descriptor such as “Amazon Digital” may not identify a particular subscription. Compare it with Amazon orders, payment transactions, subscriptions, and Amazon Pay records. Amazon lists subscription renewals, digital orders, charges to another card on the account, and pending authorizations among the possible explanations for unfamiliar charges (Amazon’s guidance on unknown charges).
Do not email anyone your full card number. Keep the details and any transaction identifier for support or your bank.
Understand which Amazon music plan may be involved

Amazon’s plan guidance also explains that eligible Prime members may have access to an annual Unlimited plan and that existing Unlimited subscribers generally need to cancel their existing plan before switching to Single Device.

Check whether a trial or promotion renewed
Amazon Music Unlimited trials and promotions may convert to paid plans automatically unless cancelled before the offer ends. Offer length and terms vary by promotion, account, country, and date, so use the dates shown in your account rather than assuming a standard trial period. Check the sign-up date, stated end date, renewal frequency, and confirmation emails—including filtered or archived messages. Amazon describes the applicable renewal and payment terms in its Amazon Music terms.
Find the account and billing provider
- Check Amazon Music Settings. Open Your Amazon Music Settings and look for the plan name, renewal date, frequency, payment method, and status. The documented cancellation path is to find the Amazon Music Unlimited section, review the renewal details, choose Cancel, and confirm.
- Check memberships and subscriptions. Review Amazon Memberships and Subscriptions for Music Unlimited and other recurring services, including Prime, Kindle Unlimited, Audible, Prime Video Channels, and Amazon Kids+.
- Match the transaction to orders and payments. Review Your Orders and payment transactions, including digital purchases. Menu labels and page availability can vary by marketplace and account.
- Check Amazon Pay separately. Visit Amazon Pay and look for payment authorizations or merchant agreements. A recurring authorization can be managed separately from Music Settings. Amazon Pay explains recurring payment authorizations and how to manage them.
If the charge appears under another billing provider, cancel there instead:

Amazon says subscriptions started through Apple, Google, or a mobile provider must be cancelled through that provider; refund eligibility is also governed by the provider’s policies (Amazon Music cancellation guidance).
Cancel an Amazon-billed plan and verify the result
- In Your Amazon Music Settings, locate the Unlimited plan and review its renewal information.
- Select Cancel and complete the confirmation step. Do not stop at a screen that merely offers a pause or begins cancellation.
- Save the displayed end date, cancellation confirmation, and confirmation email. Check that the plan status shows it will not renew.
Cancellation generally prevents the next renewal, while access may continue until the current plan term ends. Amazon says Unlimited titles may become unavailable or greyed out after that term. Some eligible monthly subscribers may be offered a pause, but the cited guidance excludes annual plans, free trials, promotions, and subscriptions billed through Apple, Google, or a mobile provider from pausing.

Why the subscription may not appear in your account
- A different Amazon account: The card may be saved to another email address, marketplace, or account used by a household member.
- A shared card or device: A spouse, child, roommate, or former household member may have signed up. Someone with access to an Echo or Fire TV may have started a device-based plan.
- Third-party billing: Apple, Google, or a carrier may bill the subscription, leaving no cancellable plan in the Amazon page you checked.
- Amazon Pay or another Amazon purchase: The entry may be a recurring merchant authorization, Prime renewal, digital order, or another transaction rather than Music Unlimited.
- A pending authorization: A bank may display a temporary authorization as if it were a charge. Check whether it is pending or posted; timing varies by bank, card network, and transaction type.
Ask household members whether they initiated the plan and check each Amazon account associated with the card. An unfamiliar charge is not automatically fraud: distinguish a charge you do not recognize from one the cardholder did not authorize.
What to do if you cancelled but were charged again
- Check whether cancellation was confirmed and note the plan’s end date.
- Compare the charge date with the cancellation date; a transaction posted after cancellation may have been authorized earlier or may relate to the existing term.
- Look for a second plan, another Amazon account, or billing through Apple, Google, a carrier, or Amazon Pay.
- Match multiple same-day entries by transaction details before calling them duplicate billing. They could reflect separate plans, a plan change, Prime, a digital purchase, a retry, or unauthorized activity.
Secure your account and payment method if the charge is unauthorized
- Change your Amazon password and, if it may have been exposed, your email password.
- Enable two-step verification and review signed-in devices and account activity.
- Remove unfamiliar payment methods and ask household members whether they made the purchase.
- Review Alexa voice purchasing and other device-based purchasing settings.
- Contact your card issuer promptly if you believe the transaction was unauthorized, and follow its dispute process.
Replacing a card alone may not stop a recurring merchant relationship: some merchants can receive updated card credentials through card-network account updater systems. Cancel the subscription, ask the issuer whether it can block future recurring charges from that merchant, and monitor statements. Removing a saved card is not a substitute for cancelling a service.

Request a refund or escalate the charge
First identify the billing provider and cancel future renewal if you do not want the service. Then contact Amazon customer service with the exact descriptor, dates, amounts, account email, plan name if known, and cancellation evidence. Ask whether the charges qualify for a refund; do not assume one is guaranteed. Refund eligibility can depend on the plan, timing, use, marketplace, billing provider, applicable terms, and law. If Amazon cannot locate the transaction, contact the provider shown on the statement or Amazon Pay. For suspected unauthorized activity, notify the card issuer promptly rather than waiting for a merchant investigation to finish.
You can say: “I found recurring charges for [exact descriptor and amount] on [dates]. I have cancelled or cannot locate the subscription. Please identify the billing account, stop future renewals, and review these charges for a refund.”

If you cancel an Amazon Pay authorization, remember that this stops that payment mechanism but does not necessarily terminate the underlying service contract. Contact the merchant to cancel the service as well; Amazon Pay explains this distinction in its recurring-payment cancellation guidance.
Be wary of unsolicited refund messages. The FTC says it will not demand money, threaten consumers, or promise special access to an Amazon refund. Navigate to Amazon or the FTC’s official refund information independently rather than clicking unexpected links. That FTC matter concerns Prime enrollment and cancellation practices; it is not a general Music Unlimited refund program.
