Ray J was a co-founder, public spokesman, officer and shareholder, but a June 2026 report says he left those ownership and officer roles on March 6, 2024. The same report identifies GoDigital Media Group as Raycon’s acquirer. That ownership change is reported rather than conclusively established by a publicly available purchase agreement or corporate filing. Raycon Inc. remains the customer-facing operating entity named on Raycon’s website, while the ultimate ownership chain is not fully transparent because the businesses involved are private.
What is Raycon?
Raycon is a direct-to-consumer audio brand selling wireless earbuds, headphones, speakers and accessories through rayconglobal.com. Its current privacy policy identifies Raycon Inc. and lists 1115 Broadway, Suite 12, New York, New York 10010 as the business address (Raycon privacy policy).
The storefront and the legal entity operating it are not automatically the same as the company or investor that ultimately controls the brand. That distinction matters when answering who owns Raycon.
Who founded Raycon?
Raycon launched in 2017 and was publicly founded by Ray J and Ray Lee. Ray J’s legal name is William Ray Norwood Jr. Raycon’s own brand story identifies both men as co-founders (Raycon’s “We Are Raycon” page), while a later business biography also describes the 2017 launch (Ray J business biography).

Ray J had previously been associated with Raytroniks and the Scoot-E-Bike venture. Those earlier businesses help explain his technology-entrepreneur profile, but they are separate from Raycon’s corporate identity.
Ray Lee is sometimes omitted from coverage because Ray J is the better-known name. The Better Business Bureau profile for Raycon Inc. also identifies Lee as a co-founder, although a BBB profile is not a shareholder register or proof of present control (BBB Raycon Inc. profile).
Was Ray J the owner, executive or spokesperson?
Those labels describe different legal and commercial relationships. A founder helps start a company; an officer holds a formal corporate position; a shareholder owns equity; and a brand ambassador promotes products. None of those labels, by itself, proves current ultimate ownership.

Raycon still has a page calling Ray J a “co-founder and CSO” (Raycon brand story). That wording confirms his historical association, but it is not a live ownership register. A celebrity’s name remaining on a website does not demonstrate that the celebrity still owns equity or serves as an officer.

A June 2026 report from LegalClarity says Ray J stepped away from Raycon on March 6, 2024, leaving both his officer position and his shareholder position. It further says he fully divested his shares and that GoDigital Media Group acquired Raycon in March 2024 (LegalClarity report).
That is the strongest current ownership account located for this subject, but it remains secondary-source reporting. The publicly available material does not include the acquisition agreement, a Raycon announcement, a GoDigital transaction release, or another primary document that independently maps the deal. It is therefore more accurate to write that GoDigital is reported to have acquired Raycon than to present the acquisition as conclusively documented.

Who owns Raycon now?
On the available evidence, GoDigital Media Group is the best-supported reported owner after Ray J’s exit. GoDigital describes itself as a privately held company working across media, technology, intellectual property and commerce; its commerce division manages consumer brands (GoDigital company overview). Its public overview and press page do not, in the material available here, independently announce a Raycon acquisition or list Raycon among named portfolio brands (GoDigital press page).
That absence does not disprove the reported deal. Portfolio pages can be incomplete, organized by subsidiary or updated at a different time. Conversely, the LegalClarity report alone cannot show whether GoDigital owns Raycon directly, through a subsidiary, or through a particular set of assets.

A trademark owner can differ from the company that sells products, employs staff or controls a parent group. An acquisition can transfer stock, trademarks, inventory, websites, customer data, product designs or contracts in different combinations. Without transaction documents, the relationship among these entities cannot be stated more precisely.
Why is Raycon’s ownership difficult to verify?
- Raycon is private. It does not publish the routine ownership filings that a public company would file with the SEC.
- Private brands often use multiple entities. Operations, trademarks, logistics, e-commerce and marketing may sit in different companies.
- Legal pages identify operations, not necessarily control. A privacy policy can name the customer-facing company without naming its parent.
- Marketing copy can become stale. A founder may sell equity or leave an officer role while an old biography remains online.
- Trademark records answer a narrower question. They identify the recorded mark owner, not necessarily the ultimate corporate controller.
The BBB profile lists Raycon as a corporation and gives a 2019 incorporation date, but BBB cautions that its profiles are not guarantees and do not function as independently verified ownership records (BBB profile).

Historically, yes in the sense that Ray J co-founded it and held a public executive and shareholder role. Based on the reported March 2024 departure, no in the narrower sense of Ray J being the current owner. The most supportable present description is that Raycon is a celebrity-founded brand reportedly acquired by GoDigital, with Ray J’s continuing promotional or contractual relationship unverified.

Ray J’s name on an older Raycon page should be read as part of the brand’s history, not as proof that he remains an officer, shareholder or controlling owner.
What remains unconfirmed?
Publicly available sources do not establish:
- the acquisition price or payment terms;
- GoDigital’s exact ownership percentage;
- whether Ray Lee retained any equity;
- whether Ray J receives royalties, licensing payments or other compensation;
- whether GoDigital owns Raycon directly or through another subsidiary;
- which specific trademarks, websites, inventory, customer records and contracts moved in the transaction.
Those questions require a transaction document, corporate records, trademark assignment filings or direct statements from Raycon, GoDigital or the founders.
What does the ownership story mean for buyers?
Ownership does not determine whether a particular earbud or headphone is good, bad, durable or worth its price. Evaluate the model’s sound, noise cancellation, microphone, app features, warranty and return terms separately. Raycon’s direct storefront is rayconglobal.com, and its promotional pages advertise a 30-day “Happiness Guarantee”; eligibility, exclusions and geography should be checked in the current terms (Raycon guarantee page).
Raycon’s privacy policy also says customer information may be transferred if the store is acquired or merged. That clause is standard acquisition language and, by itself, does not prove that a particular transaction occurred.
