The appointment followed senior commercial roles at Nutanix, Pure Storage and VMware, as well as a long career at Cisco. A March 24, 2026 announcement later named him an executive advisor to NSS Labs and described Google Cloud as his most recent role.
What role did Dominick Delfino take at Google Cloud?
Delfino joined Google Cloud as global vice president of cybersecurity sales. CRN reported that he announced the start of the role in a LinkedIn post. The appointment is historical: a March 24, 2026 citybiz report on an NSS Labs announcement described Google Cloud as his most recent position and named him an NSS Labs executive advisor. The available announcement does not establish his employment after that date.
What did he do before Google Cloud?
Delfino’s career combined sales leadership and technical roles. The positions CRN highlighted differ in responsibility, so they are best understood in chronological order rather than as equivalent executive jobs.
Nutanix and Pure Storage
Before joining Google Cloud, Delfino was chief revenue officer at Nutanix for less than a year. He had previously spent approximately a year as chief revenue officer at Pure Storage, where CRN says he led the global sales organization and routes to market. When Nutanix announced his appointment there, CEO Rajiv Ramaswami praised Delfino’s “clear strategic orientation, passion and enthusiasm” alongside “a lens of execution and discipline,” as quoted by CRN.

VMware
From 2014 to 2020, CRN reports, Delfino held sales leadership roles at VMware. These included general manager and senior vice president of the Americas, and senior vice president of worldwide sales for VMware’s Software Defined Data Center business.
Cisco and the start of his career
Delfino worked at Cisco from 2000 to 2014, with responsibilities that included technical leadership in global data center and virtualization systems engineering and technology strategy. CRN says he began his IT career in 1996 as a lead systems architect at Dimension Data. The 2026 NSS Labs announcement describes his experience across Google Cloud, Nutanix, Pure Storage and Cisco as more than 25 years.
Why did Google Cloud’s cybersecurity business matter to the story?
CRN placed the hire in the context of Google Cloud’s 2022 effort to distinguish its cloud business through security. The report cited BeyondCorp, data-protection offerings, an open approach to protecting workloads in Google Cloud and customers’ own environments, and partnerships with Palo Alto Networks and CrowdStrike. Those examples describe the period covered by CRN; they are not a complete or current inventory of Google Cloud security products or strategy.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian told CRN the company wanted to “industrialize” cybersecurity so customers would not have to constantly worry about being breached. The report also discussed the timing alongside Google’s then-pending acquisition of Mandiant, which it valued at $5.4 billion. That was contemporaneous 2022 deal context, not a current transaction update.

What is known about Delfino’s later role?
The March 24, 2026 NSS Labs announcement named Delfino an executive advisor and referred to Google Cloud as his most recent position. In the announcement, Delfino said, “Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed how difficult it is for organizations to separate marketing claims from actual security performance.” The announcement establishes that appointment and its description of his prior role; it does not say what position he held afterward.
