The White House announced a one-time $90 payment for more than 20 million Medicare enrollees to help with their Part B premiums. The fact sheet says most Part B enrollees qualify, but excludes people whose premiums are paid by Medicaid and people who pay an income-related monthly adjustment amount (IRMAA). It describes payment by direct deposit or check in early October 2026; it does not give an individual arrival date.
Who qualifies for the $90 payment?
According to the White House fact sheet dated October 2, 2026, most people enrolled in Medicare Part B qualify. The announcement names two exclusions:
- People whose Part B premiums are already paid by Medicaid.
- People who pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA).
This is not a payment for every person on Medicare. The fact sheet does not provide additional eligibility rules or a way to calculate an individual’s eligibility, so contact Medicare if you are unsure.
When and how will it be paid?
The White House says payments will be sent in early October 2026. Eligible people with direct deposit are expected to receive a deposit; those without direct deposit are to receive a check at the mailing address registered with Medicare. The announcement does not specify a date for any individual payment, and it does not independently confirm that payments have been processed.

Is the $90 a monthly benefit or a full premium payment?
No. The White House describes it as a one-time contribution toward Part B premiums, not a recurring monthly benefit or a replacement for the monthly premium. Medicare.gov lists the standard Part B premium for 2026 as $202.90 per month; the premium may be higher depending on income. The $90 payment therefore does not cover a full standard monthly premium. Where can you ask about eligibility or payment status?
The White House fact sheet lists different contacts for these questions:
