Telegram trading bots are chat-based tools that construct and submit blockchain trades for you. They can make decentralized-exchange (DEX) trading faster, but they are not banks, brokers, regulated exchanges, or reliable profit engines. You still face token scams, failed transactions, slippage, network fees, MEV attacks, wallet theft and total loss.

The safest operating assumption is that a bot is an execution interface for high-risk on-chain trading. If you use one, use a separate wallet funded only with money you can afford to lose, verify the exact official bot, and check every transaction independently.

What is a Telegram trading bot?

Telegram bots are applications that run inside Telegram and are generally operated by third-party providers, not Telegram itself. Telegram describes bots at its bot documentation, while its bot terms explain that users may also be subject to the provider’s terms and receive no general guarantee that a bot is legitimate, solvent or secure.

A trading bot adds a Telegram-native interface to a wallet, blockchain network, DEX or aggregator, routing infrastructure and sometimes an automated signer. You paste a token contract, choose a trade size and settings, and the service builds a transaction for your approval or submits it through its wallet architecture.

Tool Primary function
Wallet Holds keys and signs transactions.
DEX Executes swaps through liquidity pools or routing infrastructure.
Telegram trading bot Provides a chat interface and automation layer for on-chain transactions.
Centralized exchange Provides account-based or custodial trading.
Trading terminal Offers charts, order controls and analytics through a web or desktop interface.
Copy-trading tool Attempts to mirror transactions associated with another wallet.

Most bots target fast, speculative trading, including newly launched meme coins. They do not independently make a bad token legitimate or turn execution speed into a dependable investment edge.

How a trade works

  1. Open the bot through a verified official website or documentation link.
  2. Create a dedicated wallet, or connect/import one according to the bot’s design.
  3. Fund it with the network’s asset, such as SOL or ETH.
  4. Enter a token contract address or select a token displayed by the bot.
  5. Set the amount, slippage tolerance, gas or priority fee and any available order, MEV, take-profit, stop-loss, DCA or copy-trading options.
  6. Review the constructed transaction and sign it according to the wallet architecture.
  7. The bot submits it to the network.
  8. Check whether the blockchain confirms, rejects or leaves it pending.
  9. Verify the transaction hash, received amount and token balance on a public block explorer.

A displayed quote is not a guaranteed fill. Price, liquidity, gas conditions and contract behavior can change between quoting and confirmation.

What traders use bots for

Manual swaps

A bot can reduce the number of screens needed to buy or sell through a DEX. The convenience does not remove the need to check the contract, route, liquidity, price impact and taxes.

Token sniping

“Sniping” means attempting to buy immediately after liquidity is added, trading is enabled or a launch event occurs. Earlier execution may improve entry position, but it also increases exposure to honeypots, fake launches, malicious taxes, low liquidity and extreme volatility. A fast confirmation can still produce a large loss, and sniping often adds priority fees, bot fees and price impact.

Copy trading

Copy trading attempts to mirror another wallet’s transactions. The copied wallet may have different information, position size and risk tolerance. Your transaction may confirm later at a worse price, the target may use several wallets, and a follower may be unable to sell at the same price. Historical activity is not a verified investment strategy or performance guarantee.

Orders, DCA and alerts

Some products advertise limit orders, take-profit or stop-loss rules, recurring dollar-cost averaging, wallet tracking and alerts. Availability can differ between a Telegram bot and the provider’s web terminal, chain and trading mode. Confirm the exact current behavior before relying on an automated order.

Are Telegram trading bots safe?

Safety depends first on who controls the wallet and then on the token and transaction you approve. “Non-custodial” is a design claim, not a blanket safety certification.

Custody models

  • Locally generated or non-custodial wallet: the provider says keys remain under your control. This reduces direct custody risk but does not prevent phishing, malicious signing, device compromise, bad tokens or Telegram-account takeover.
  • Custodial wallet: the provider controls keys or funds. A hack, freeze, insolvency event or insider compromise can affect every deposited asset.
  • Imported primary wallet: giving a bot access to a wallet holding long-term savings creates avoidable concentration risk.

BONKbot says its signer is designed so private keys are not visible to BONKbot, Telegram or third parties; that remains a vendor claim. See its security explanation. Never put a primary savings wallet into a trading bot.

Smart-contract and token risks

  • Honeypots that allow purchases but block sales.
  • Blacklists, transfer restrictions or punitive, changeable taxes.
  • Hidden minting, pause or freeze privileges.
  • Liquidity that can be withdrawn.
  • Fake contracts using a legitimate project’s name or ticker.
  • Proxy contracts whose behavior can change after launch.
  • Malicious approval or permit requests.

Honeypot scanners, simulations and “anti-rug” features can reduce some risks but cannot guarantee a sale or protect against every contract change. Banana Gun markets scanning and pre-trade protections; treat those as vendor claims rather than independently proven guarantees.

Telegram and provider risk

Enable Telegram two-step verification, protect the recovery email, review active sessions and terminate unknown devices. Do not upload seed phrases, private keys or wallet backups to chats. A bot outage can prevent selling during a rapid move, and a compromised provider, signer service or infrastructure vendor can expose users even when the interface looks legitimate.

How to verify the real bot

  • Start at the provider’s official website or documentation, not an unsolicited direct message.
  • Compare the Telegram username character by character, including punctuation and Unicode lookalikes.
  • Use only support links published by the official site.
  • Confirm that support never asks for a seed phrase, private key, remote-access session or “verification payment.”
  • Read current terms, privacy, fee and security pages and check their update dates.
  • Independently verify token and contract addresses and, where relevant, the bot’s deposit address.
  • Remember that identity verification is necessary but not sufficient; a genuine provider can still suffer a breach.

BONKbot’s scam-avoidance guidance specifically warns about impersonators, fake support and requests for seed phrases.

What trading actually costs

The advertised bot percentage is only one part of the bill.

  • Bot fee: charged by the provider, often on successful trades.
  • Network fee: gas or another chain fee.
  • Priority fee or tip: intended to improve inclusion speed.
  • DEX or routing fee: charged directly or embedded in the route.
  • Slippage and price impact: execution losses caused by movement and inadequate liquidity.
  • Token tax: a contract-level buy or sell charge, where applicable.
  • Failed-transaction cost: some networks charge fees even when a swap fails.
  • Withdrawal or transfer cost: depending on custody and wallet design.
Provider Public fee signal Qualification
BONKbot 1% per successful swap transaction Provider documentation: fee schedule. Verify the live interface.
Banana Gun 0.5% on manual trades; 1% on snipes Public website states these rates and shows no subscription fee; verify chain-specific scope before trading at the official site.

A 1% bot fee is not a 1% total cost. On a $1,000 round trip, bot fees may apply to both the purchase and sale, before network fees, taxes, slippage and price impact.

Slippage, MEV and failed trades

Slippage

Slippage tolerance is the maximum price movement you permit before the transaction is rejected. Too little can cause failure; too much can allow a substantially worse fill, particularly in a thin pool. Do not blindly accept “auto” slippage for an unknown token. Treat unusual tax or price-impact warnings as reasons to stop.

MEV and sandwiching

On some chains, pending transactions can be observed before confirmation. Searchers may buy before and sell after your trade, worsening execution. Private routing or MEV protection may reduce some transaction-ordering exposure, but it cannot fix a honeypot, low liquidity, bad quote or rug pull. A fast transaction is not automatically a good transaction.

When a transaction fails

A failed transaction may still consume a network fee. A message saying “error” also does not prove that the chain rejected the transaction; check the hash before retrying. Repeated attempts during congestion can create duplicate fills or additional fees.

Fees, features and product claims change

Banana Gun advertises a Telegram bot and web terminal with multi-chain trading, sniping, manual trades, limit orders, copy trading and DCA. Its official Telegram launch page identifies @bananagun_robot. BONKbot provides a Solana-focused Telegram workflow and security documentation at its documentation site. Other category examples include Trojan, Maestro and Unibot, but exact current fees, chains and security features require separate confirmation.

Check whether a feature exists in the Telegram bot, web terminal, chain and mode you intend to use. Do not choose on the basis of a token, leaderboard, rewards program or claim of being “fastest.”

How to set one up with limited risk

  1. Set a maximum loss before opening the bot.
  2. Create a new wallet used only for trading.
  3. Keep long-term holdings elsewhere.
  4. Find the bot through the official website or documentation.
  5. Confirm the exact username and read current fees and security information.
  6. Enable Telegram two-step verification and secure the recovery email.
  7. Fund the wallet with a small test amount.
  8. Test a small buy and, where practical, a small sell.
  9. Confirm both hashes on a block explorer.
  10. Export backup credentials only through a verified, secure path and never share them.
  11. Sweep profits or excess funds to a separate secure wallet.

Pre-trade checklist

  • Correct network and exact contract address.
  • Independent liquidity, volume and sellability checks.
  • Buy and sell taxes, transfer restrictions and owner privileges.
  • Slippage and expected price impact.
  • Network, priority and bot fees.
  • Clear destination wallet and transaction details.
  • Transaction simulation or warning messages reviewed.
  • No urgency created by an influencer, group or direct message.

Common failure modes and recovery steps

Fake bot or support account

Do not deposit more, send a seed phrase or pay a “recovery” fee. Stop interacting and preserve usernames, messages and addresses.

Telegram account takeover

Terminate unknown sessions, change Telegram and email credentials, and move remaining assets to a clean wallet if the trading wallet or key may be exposed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Stuck, duplicate or unexpected transaction

Check the hash independently before retrying. Record the actual received amount and approvals, and revoke unnecessary approvals where supported.

Token cannot be sold

Do not keep increasing slippage or sending more funds. The contract may block sales, impose a punitive tax or lack liquidity.

Bot outage

If you control the wallet, use a reputable wallet and DEX interface to inspect or manage assets manually. If the provider controls the wallet, recovery depends on its documented process and solvency.

Telegram bots versus alternatives

Option Better suited to Main trade-off
Telegram bot Experienced traders who value speed and mobile automation. Higher impersonation, custody, execution and interface risk.
Self-custody wallet plus DEX Users wanting direct transaction review and key control. More manual steps and less automation.
Web trading terminal Users needing charts, order review and portfolio visibility. May sacrifice Telegram convenience; still exposed to on-chain risks.
Centralized exchange Users wanting account recovery, simpler interfaces or regulated features where available. Custody, withdrawal and platform-counterparty risk.
Portfolio tracker and block explorer Monitoring balances and transactions without executing trades. Does not provide trading execution.

Who should avoid one?

  • People new to wallets, gas or slippage.
  • Anyone using emergency, retirement or essential living funds.
  • Users unable to evaluate contracts and liquidity independently.
  • Anyone seeking regulated custody, dispute resolution or guaranteed returns.
  • Anyone planning to deposit an entire portfolio.
  • Anyone attracted mainly by “risk-free,” “guaranteed” or “AI trader” marketing.

A Telegram bot may be a reasonable execution tool only for someone who understands on-chain mechanics, accepts possible total loss, uses a dedicated hot wallet and can verify contracts and transactions independently.

Telegram platform rules are not a safety endorsement

Telegram’s blockchain and Mini App guidelines impose rules for products using Mini Apps, TON Connect and related functionality; ordinary bots without a Mini App are treated differently. Platform availability is not financial regulation, an audit or an endorsement. Applicable securities, commodities, money-transmission, sanctions, consumer-protection, tax and advertising rules vary by jurisdiction and product design.
