If money from a crypto sale has not reached your bank, first check the exchange’s transaction record and identify whether the delay is in the sale, the fiat withdrawal, or the bank’s posting. Follow the time estimate and status guidance for your exchange, payment method, currency, and country; there is no single settlement timeline that applies to every cash-out.
First, identify which kind of transfer you made
“Crypto transfer” can mean two different things. A cash-out usually involves selling crypto, making the proceeds available as fiat in your exchange account, requesting a withdrawal, and waiting for the bank to credit it. Sending cryptocurrency to another wallet or exchange is an on-chain transaction, not a bank payout.
These steps can have separate statuses and delays. Coinbase, for example, says a sale to its cash balance is instant minus any holds, while a withdrawal’s timing depends on the payment method and is estimated in business days. Check the estimate and terms shown for your own withdrawal.
Work through a delayed bank cash-out
1. Open the transaction record
In the exchange’s official app or website, open your activity, transactions, or withdrawal history and select the relevant transaction. Confirm that you requested a fiat withdrawal to a bank—not a crypto withdrawal to a wallet—and note the exact status, initiation date and time, currency, payment method, destination account, and transaction or reference number. Do not submit another withdrawal just because the first one is taking longer than expected; first establish what happened to the original request.

2. Compare the status with the exchange’s estimate
Use the estimate displayed for the chosen payment method and count business days if that is how the estimate is expressed. A request made late in the day may not begin processing until the next business day; weekends, bank holidays, account holds, and regional payment-rail differences can also affect timing. Coinbase describes its estimates as business-day estimates and notes that a late-day transaction usually starts the next business day. Its payment-method guidance is not a universal timetable for other exchanges or regions.
Status labels are provider-specific. Kraken’s guide is one concrete example, not an industry-wide rule:

| Status shown by Kraken | What Kraken says it means | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | The withdrawal is still being processed in Kraken’s systems. | Contact Kraken support. |
| Sending | It has been processed in Kraken’s systems. | Contact support if this lasts more than one business day. |
| Confirming | It has reached Kraken’s funding provider. | Contact support if this lasts more than one business day. |
| Success | It has been sent to the funding provider. | Contact support if the funds have not arrived within five business days. |
| On hold | Manual support review is required. | Contact support. |
| Failure | The withdrawal failed. | Follow Kraken’s support instructions rather than assuming the bank is processing it. |
These are Kraken’s stated support thresholds, not guarantees of when a bank will post funds. Check Kraken’s current status guidance because methods and rules can change.
3. Verify bank details and holidays
Check the saved bank information and any required beneficiary or payment reference details against what your bank expects. Review whether a weekend or banking holiday fell during the estimated processing period. Kraken’s delayed deposit and withdrawal guidance recommends checking the status, banking information, and holidays before contacting support. Advice about missing references on a deposit into an exchange is a different situation; do not treat it as an explanation for a bank cash-out.

4. Check for a relevant service incident
Look at the exchange’s official status page for an incident that matches the withdrawal method, fiat currency, or asset/network involved. Read the incident details and dates: an issue affecting a crypto network does not by itself show that fiat bank payouts are affected, and a broad “operational” label cannot rule out a delay at one payment provider. Kraken’s status page records dated incidents and updates; its contents can change over time.
5. Contact the party that can trace the payment
If the provider’s estimate or its stated support threshold has passed, contact the exchange through the support channel in its official app or website. Include the transaction reference, date and time with time zone, amount and currency, payment method, destination details requested through secure channels, and a screenshot of the status. Ask whether the exchange has sent the payment to its funding provider and, if so, request any trace or reference information it can provide.

If the exchange confirms dispatch and gives you a reference, contact your bank using its official phone number or secure banking channel and ask it to search for the incoming payment. Do not assume the bank can see a payment the exchange has not yet sent. Never give anyone claiming to recover delayed funds your password, one-time passcode, recovery phrase, or remote access to your device.

For a crypto withdrawal to another wallet or exchange, use the transaction ID or hash and the relevant blockchain explorer to check whether the transaction was broadcast and confirmed. Network congestion, confirmation requirements, and whether the receiving platform supports the asset and network can affect when funds are credited.

- Helpful in various ways
- If the transaction is unconfirmed, follow the sending platform’s guidance or ask it to investigate; do not treat a bank holiday as the cause of an on-chain delay.
- If it is confirmed but the receiving wallet or exchange has not credited it, contact the destination platform with the transaction hash. The receiving platform may need to investigate the credit.
- Use a blockchain explorer only for the on-chain leg. It cannot establish whether a fiat bank transfer was delivered.
