If your Apple Cash card in Wallet says your account is restricted, locked, or under review, follow the status-specific instructions shown on the card. Start by checking for Verify Identity. If Apple gives no next step, contact an Apple Cash Specialist at Green Dot Bank through Apple’s support route. A restricted account may still allow Apple Pay purchases and bank transfers; a locked account does not.
These steps apply to Apple Cash, Apple’s U.S. money service in Wallet—not an Apple Account sign-in lock, an Apple Card problem, or every Apple Pay payment failure. Apple says standard Apple Cash use requires a U.S. resident who is at least 18; a family organizer can set up Apple Cash Family for someone under 18. Check the exact status on your Apple Cash card
Open Wallet and tap the Apple Cash card. Read the exact status and any instructions displayed. A declined send alone does not establish that the account is restricted: the cause may instead be a payment-card decline, an eligibility issue, or a transaction limit. Follow this recovery guide when the card itself reports a restriction, lock, or review.
What each Apple Cash status allows
Apple describes different restrictions depending on the status. In particular, do not treat a restricted account as if it were locked: Apple says bank transfers and Apple Pay purchases can remain available in the ordinary restricted state.

Complete identity verification if Wallet offers it
Apple’s verification route varies by device. Tap Verify Identity on the Apple Cash card and follow the on-screen prompts. Enter accurate information; do not repeatedly submit guesses or share identity documents or Social Security numbers in public forums.
- iPhone: Open Wallet and tap the Apple Cash card.
- iPad: Open Settings, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap the Apple Cash card.
- Apple Watch: Open the Watch app on iPhone, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap the Apple Cash card.
Apple’s identity guide also gives the route Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > Apple Cash card > Verify Identity. If that option is absent, Apple says identity has already been verified; its absence does not explain why a separate restriction remains. Apple’s identity-verification instructions.

If the card says your account is under review
Apple says reviews take up to 2 business days. That is Apple’s stated estimate, not a guarantee that every review will finish within that period or that access will be restored. Afterward, Apple says the card will show either that the account is active or a status message. Check Wallet for that update. Apple’s restriction and review guidance.
Contact the right support team if there are no instructions
Apple directs customers whose account is restricted or locked and who see no instructions to contact an Apple Cash Specialist at Green Dot Bank. Green Dot provides the Apple Cash account service; this is not Apple Card support at Goldman Sachs. Use the specialist route linked from Apple’s current restriction and lock support article, which opens Apple’s Get Support flow. Green Dot’s general number is not a substitute for that account-specific route.

Check whether a family organizer locked the account
If the account is part of Apple Cash Family, ask the organizer whether they locked the member’s account. Apple says an organizer can prevent the family member from making purchases and sending or receiving money. This family control is distinct from an account review, so confirm it before seeking individual account support. Apple’s Family activity controls.
Why Apple Cash accounts may be restricted or locked
Apple says it may restrict or lock accounts to prevent fraud, protect account security, or comply with regulations. Its examples include chargebacks after disputes about unauthorized transactions, multiple failed identity-verification attempts, multiple accounts associated with one Social Security number, suspected fraud, and additional security checks. These are possibilities, not a diagnosis of why a particular account was flagged.

Avoid steps Apple does not recommend
- Do not assume repeatedly resubmitting identity details, opening another Apple Cash account, removing a card, or resetting a device will unlock the account; Apple does not give those as remedies.
- Do not dispute a legitimate transaction to try to regain access. Apple lists chargebacks following unauthorized-transaction disputes among circumstances that may be associated with a restriction.
- Do not confuse Apple Cash with Apple Account sign-in recovery, Apple Card support, a bank-debit decline, a merchant’s Apple Pay decline, or a transaction limit.
- Do not give passcodes, Social Security numbers, or identity documents to people offering an unofficial unlock service. Use Apple’s support route for the Green Dot Apple Cash Specialist.
