The Ethereum Foundation’s work on AI concerns Ethereum infrastructure, coordination, privacy, security and ecosystem projects. It does not establish that the Foundation endorses a token sale—or that an AI-themed token is connected to Ethereum or likely to gain value.
That distinction matters: a headline about the Foundation putting AI “on chain” is not evidence for buying a presale. Before considering any offering, check who is issuing it, what rights the token provides, how the sale works and which claims can be independently verified.
What does the Ethereum Foundation mean by AI on Ethereum?
The Foundation’s AI work is about using Ethereum and related technologies for coordination, payments, privacy and security—not promoting a presale. Its dAI team describes a goal of making Ethereum a settlement and coordination layer for AI agents and the machine economy, alongside work on decentralized AI infrastructure. Those are the team’s stated objectives, not an investment recommendation.
| Documented activity | What it describes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| dAI team announcement, December 15, 2024 | A proposed role for Ethereum in AI-agent and machine-economy coordination, plus decentralized AI infrastructure. | That the Foundation endorses an AI token or presale. |
| Protocol Security post, July 9, 2026 | Coordinated AI agents testing protocol code, cryptographic software and contracts. The team reported a remotely triggerable panic in libp2p gossipsub, fixed and disclosed as CVE-2026-34219, and discussed the need to triage apparent bugs. | A connection between that security work and any token sale. |
| Ecosystem Support Program Q2 allocation update, August 18, 2026 | Funded AI-adjacent work including Steward, a fully local macOS Ethereum smart-account wallet with an on-device AI assistant; the Open Anonymity Project, which begins with private access to AI inference; and LLM-based client-compliance analysis using AI agents. | An endorsement of the funded projects’ tokens or of unrelated presales. |
Using “Ethereum,” “AI” or “on-chain” in marketing does not, by itself, prove Foundation affiliation, working technology or token value. Treat any claimed connection as unverified until the Foundation or named partner confirms it through a channel it controls.

Why can’t a best presale be named?
A defensible ranking would require current, comparable evidence about the issuers, token rights, sale terms, security, product progress and legal eligibility of the offerings being compared. The available information does not provide an independently verified ranking, a market-wide audited success rate or current comparative return data for AI- or Ethereum-related presales. Naming a winner anyway would turn incomplete evidence into an investment recommendation.
A white paper is a statement from the issuer, not independent confirmation of its claims. For example, Etherchain AI’s self-published white paper says the project has a total supply of 50 million ETHAI, with 50% allocated to presale participants, and describes planned features and presale benefits. The material available does not independently establish the sale’s current status, funds raised, strategic investors, mainnet delivery or the accuracy of those claims. Its publication date was not established, so those figures should be treated as undated issuer claims—not as verified current supply or fundraising data.

The Ethereum Foundation published a warning on February 13, 2014, about an unaffiliated offer involving future ether. It said, “we do not recommend, encourage, or endorse any attempt to sell, trade, or acquire ether.” That statement concerned the offer then under discussion; it is historical context, not a current blanket position on every token offering.
What should you verify before considering a presale?
Use primary records and independently controlled sources where possible. No single item—a published white paper, an audit, a wallet or a claimed partnership—shows that an investment is sound.

- Identify the issuer and responsible people. Find the legal entity, the people accountable for the offer and their verifiable track records. Check any claimed Foundation or partner relationship with the named organization itself, not only the issuer’s announcements.
- Read the full sale terms. Establish who may participate, what payment is accepted, where funds go, what restrictions apply and whether there are conditions on refunds, delivery, resale or withdrawal. Do not infer terms from a social post or a countdown timer.
- Determine what the token actually gives its holder. Check its stated utility and rights, and what it does not entitle holders to. Look for the supply, allocation, vesting and unlock schedules, treasury controls and concentration of ownership. Distinguish issuer-published figures from independently verified on-chain facts.
- Check whether the product exists and is used. Look for working code or a product that can be inspected, reproducible demonstrations, evidence of real use and milestones with a clear status. A roadmap describes plans; it does not prove delivery or adoption.
- Inspect security claims in detail. If an audit is cited, identify the auditor, the contracts and code version covered, the audit’s scope, its findings and whether unresolved issues remain. Check who controls administrator keys, whether contracts can be upgraded and whether there is a relevant incident history. An audit is not a guarantee against loss.
- Verify the payment and custody path. Confirm the sale’s contract address and payment destination through records you reach independently, and understand who controls the funds and keys at each stage. A project-controlled dashboard or screenshot alone is not independent verification.
- Check legal eligibility for your jurisdiction. Read the offer’s disclosures and restrictions, and verify any claim that it is registered or relies on an exemption using applicable official sources. Legal treatment depends on the specific offer and jurisdiction; do not assume a presale is lawful or exempt simply because it is online.
- Look for pressure tactics and unsupported claims. Guaranteed returns, urgency, celebrity promotion, unverifiable partnerships and AI buzzwords are reasons to slow down and verify—not evidence of quality.
If a fact cannot be verified, record it as unknown rather than assuming it is false or true. Missing evidence alone does not prove fraud, but it also cannot support a confident buy decision.

For U.S. investors, the SEC’s March 23, 2023 investor alert warns that crypto asset securities can be exceptionally risky and speculative, with significant risk of loss. It describes risks including volatility and illiquidity, failure of companies holding assets, opaque ownership and control, legal restrictions, hacks and malware, and limited recovery after fraud. It also cautions that unregistered offerings may lack important information and investor protections. Whether securities laws apply, and what protections are available, depends on the offering and the circumstances; this is U.S. investor guidance, not universal legal advice.

The SEC’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy warned in a May 29, 2024 alert: “Fraudsters often use the hype around new technological developments, like emerging AI technologies, to lure investors into scams.” The alert describes AI-generated promotional material, impersonation and presale pump-and-dump tactics. Verify claims through primary records and independently controlled channels rather than relying on influencer posts, promotional websites or issuer-controlled dashboards alone.
Presale tokens may also have no practical route to resale or withdrawal on the terms a buyer expects. Do not treat a planned exchange listing, expected liquidity or future price as established unless reliable evidence supports it—and even then, that does not remove the risk of losing money.

Does a crypto wallet make a presale safer?
No. Investor.gov’s December 12, 2025 custody bulletin explains that wallets store the private keys used to access crypto assets. A wallet can help a holder manage those keys, but it cannot establish that an issuer is genuine, a token has value or a sale is legal. Key custody is only one part of the risk; it does not validate the investment.
