TDK SensEI is a wholly owned TDK company created to combine edge artificial intelligence (AI) and sensor fusion for industrial machine and production health. Headquartered in Singapore, it was established on July 8, 2024, and announced by TDK on July 30, 2024. Its stated target markets are manufacturing, heavy industry and renewable energy.
What is TDK SensEI?
TDK SensEI Pte. Ltd. is a separate legal entity owned entirely by TDK Corporation. TDK’s company overview names Sandeep Pandya as its CEO and Singapore as its headquarters. The name SensEI comes from “sensor edge intelligence.” TDK’s July 30, 2024 announcement describes the company as a response to the growing market for AI and sensor fusion at the edge.
“Separate legal entity” does not mean independent ownership: TDK Corporation is the 100% shareholder. TDK said SensEI would build on the parent company’s experience commercializing magnetic and electronic materials, which it described as 85 years in 2024.
Why did TDK create SensEI?
TDK’s stated aim is to help industrial operators use machine data to improve production and equipment health. TDK Corporation President and CEO Noboru Saito said manufacturers were struggling to process real-time streams from machines, limiting their ability to optimize production capacity. He also described a shift in functionality from central cloud services toward local, distributed edge locations. These are TDK’s rationale and view of the market, not independent findings about every factory.

Processing data near equipment can support timely monitoring without making a central cloud service the sole place where sensor data is handled. SensEI’s announced approach brings together multiple sensors and AI at the edge. CEO Sandeep Pandya said that an integrated platform combining those technologies is becoming essential to maintaining production uptime. TDK’s announcement does not publish independent performance benchmarks establishing how much uptime SensEI improves.
What technologies and markets does SensEI cover?
TDK says SensEI will combine its products and production-released technologies with software and edge AI. The announcement names sensor solutions spanning several types of physical measurements:

- Renewable energy: bringing the same broad edge-AI and sensor-fusion focus to this sector.
These are target markets and technology areas in TDK’s announcement; it does not specify a product deployment or customer for each one.

What are edge AI, sensor fusion and machine health?
Edge AI
Edge AI means using AI capabilities close to where data is produced, such as at or near industrial equipment, rather than relying only on a distant, centralized service. In TDK’s description of SensEI, edge processing is part of a move toward more distributed functionality. The announcement does not detail the company’s hardware configurations or explain which computations run locally in a particular deployment.
Sensor fusion
Sensor fusion combines inputs from different sensor types to build a fuller picture of equipment or operating conditions. For example, motion, temperature and current measurements describe different aspects of a machine. In principle, considering multiple signals together can help a monitoring system identify changes that a single measurement might miss. TDK presents multi-sensor fusion as part of SensEI’s strategy, but its announcement does not provide a measured accuracy comparison against single-sensor monitoring.

Machine health
Machine-health monitoring looks for signs that equipment may be malfunctioning or changing condition. TDK’s Integrated Report 2025 references edgeRX, a TDK SensEI offering for real-time monitoring of machinery and equipment malfunctions in manufacturing and logistics operations. The report does not provide performance benchmarks, customer counts or deployment results for edgeRX.

TDK’s Integrated Report 2025 says SensEI was established in July 2024 to combine TDK products and technologies with AI and sensor fusion in the Edge AI domain. It describes a team of about 90 members, mostly from Japan, China and the United States, focused on transforming the industrial machine-health market globally. That is the team size reported in the 2025 report, not a current headcount guarantee.
