Verari’s technology was sold in January 2010 to a group led by co-founder Dave Driggers. The business relaunched as Verari Technologies and was renamed Cirrascale by August 2010; contemporary reporting said it would continue offering BladeRack 2 systems and FOREST data-center containers. The available record does not establish who owns or supports those products today.

How Verari’s technology changed hands

December 2009: restructuring and uncertainty

On December 14, 2009, Verari Systems said it was reorganizing and intended to protect customer investment and provide ongoing support. At the time, reports that the company had shut down conflicted with Verari’s statement that it remained open. The company had also missed the SC09 conference after purchasing a booth, adding to uncertainty about its operations and the future of its FOREST products. These reports do not prove that every operation ended in December.

Data Center Knowledge’s December 2009 report records the announcement and the uncertainty surrounding it.

January 2010: a founder-led group acquired the assets

Verari halted most operations on December 11, 2009, and its assets were offered for sale through an auction run by Credit Management Association. A group led by co-founder Dave Driggers won the auction. The transfer was reported as an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors, with Silicon Valley Bank identified as the largest creditor; this was not a bankruptcy-protection filing.

The acquired assets included intellectual property associated with Vertical Cooling, BladeRack, and modular data-center technology. The business relaunched as Verari Technologies. Data Center Knowledge reported the asset sale, and Data Center Dynamics reported the relaunch and acquired intellectual property.

August 2010: the successor became Cirrascale

By August 2010, Verari Technologies had been renamed Cirrascale. A contemporary report said the company would continue supplying BladeRack 2-based systems and FOREST data-center containers. That establishes a stated plan for continuity at the time, not that the products remained available in later years. Data Center Dynamics covered the Cirrascale name and planned product continuity.

What happened to BladeRack and FOREST?

The asset sale transferred intellectual property tied to BladeRack and modular data centers, and the successor’s 2010 announcement included BladeRack 2 systems and FOREST containers among the products it intended to continue. Driggers also said the company planned to license and promote the acquired technologies. These facts show that the product lines and related technology were part of the successor’s plans, but they do not establish later production, licensing, or support.

In describing the successor’s direction, Driggers said it could return to being a consulting company that partnered to deliver custom solutions. The remarks and technology plans were reported in 2010; they should not be read as confirmation of the company’s current strategy. Data Center Dynamics’ acquisition report includes his comments.

Can Verari equipment still be supported?

The sources establish the asset transfer, rebrand, and intended product continuity through August 2010. They do not establish Cirrascale’s current ownership or operating status, whether BladeRack 2 or FOREST products are still sold, or who supports legacy Verari installations. No current support arrangement can be confirmed from this historical record.

For an installed system, identify its exact model and configuration, then seek confirmation from a provider before relying on a parts, maintenance, or licensing offer. Historical ownership of technology alone does not prove that support is available now.
